Cakewalk - the only DAW with playback delay issue?
Byron Dickens replied to Antre's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Go back and reread David's post on "interoperability." You also keep mentioning your high-speed, low-drag gaming computer. Gaming is an entirely different set of requirements than audio production. Also, a stab in the dark here. I switched from Open Office to Libre Office. For a time, I had both installed and it took an inordinate amount of time to open a document in Libre Office. A simple one page text document. Until I finally uninstalled Open Office. Now they load instantly. -
21 Sample Delay on External Pres via ADAT
Byron Dickens replied to Ben Chase's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
That's why I ask the question " Can you even hear that?" Because I bet you can't. It takes longer for the sound to get from your guitar amp speakers to your ears. People waste enormous amounts of time fussing over "problems" that didn't even exist before DAWs allowed them to listen with their eyes instead of their ears. -

How do I get classic General MIDI synth sounds?
Byron Dickens replied to Dave G's topic in Instruments & Effects
Hard to believe that the crappy Sound Blaster soundfonts were brought to you by the same people responsible for those fabulous E-MU synths like the Emulator and the Proteus modules. -

Maybe everything else is too quiet.

tempo stretch cause audio delay
Byron Dickens replied to Rahul Kumar's topic in Instruments & Effects
Unfortunately I don't have an answer but this "reinstalling Windows" bit is a monumental waste of time. I can't for the life of me figure out why so many people do this. Try referring to the documentation when you want to find out how to do something instead of shooting in the dark: http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Tools.08.html- 3 replies

For anyone to help they would have to know something about your system. -

Is it possible to install -- DURING THE INSTALL -- on a different drive?
Byron Dickens replied to Jenny's question in Q&A
What seems insane to me is filling up your C drive instead of keeping it open for your OS and apps and storing your data elsewhere. -
My suggestion is to listen to it and see how it sounds before chasing ghosts.

You have to wonder if those morons were born that stupid or if they had to practice. Funny you should mention The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. I had that very book on my bookshelf in the barracks at Fort Bragg. My Platoon Sergeant and Platoon Leader had a cow when they saw it and told me to get rid of it. With the utmost in courtesy and while maintaining my military bearing and discipline, I told them to go piss up a rope. I of course didn't use those exact words but my meaning was clear. First, I showed them where the price tag was still on it from where I had bought it at the Stars and Stripes bookstore on post when I was in Germany. I then mentioned some of the things about my own ancestry and asked them if they had ever been to Dachau. I said that I had. And that it was very eerie. And all the more eerie when you're looking around and wondering if maybe some of your distant relatives had been murdered there. I asked those two idiots how come they had never heard of this book before because it's only the definitive history of the Third Reich. I looked that stupid lieutenant dead in the eye and said point blank "didn't you go to West Point sir? You didn't have to read this book there? With all due respect sir, what exactly did they teach you there?" Then I quoted George Santayana to them. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. You know where I saw that? On the wall at Dachau." Mad as they got, they couldn't do anything to me and I kept my book.
