thanks for the replies.. i wonder if any of you can be bothered opening the default 16track template and time that. its one of the templates we all have access to. i know sys specs will have something to do with it but if we all open the same thing and time it maybe we can have a ball park comparison? for me with Cakewalk at the start screen its 17sec until i can hit play.. what ive noticed is the most time consuming phase for all my projects is the "creating UI" step
-
yeah thanks... just tried the 16 track blank template and got around 10 sec so still a bit slow
-
Hi all.. unless im mistaken the old Sonar used to boot up my projects quicker than Cakewalk BB now a typical project approx 24 tracks maybe eq comp on most tracks /one or 2 delay/ rev busses Takes at least 45 sec intel i7 860 samsung ssd 16gig ram..(same system i had when using sonar) what are some your boot up times?
-
thanks Scook i just updated to the latest version and all seems good...fingers crossed

HI all.. I have cakewalk 2018.05 and it works flawlessly but now i want to use the current cakewalk and use some of its features . what i want to do is keep the old version and have the new version as well so if something goes wrong with the new one i can still have the old one to fall back on. from what i was reading this should be possible but when i go the bandlab assistant the only option is to UPDATE which i dont want...how do i do what i want? Thanks PS heres a post i found regarding this issue.. sorry i dont know how to link to the post But its from Skook Feb 6 2020 BandLab Assistant will install an update if it determines the PC has the last version of CbB installed or the full version of CbB if an older version of CbB is installed Regardless, there is no need to uninstall CbB prior to updating. according to that if i have an older version the installer will install a new FULL version and by this i assume leaves the old one on there as well..which is what i want

All exports are distorting and clipping
Bassfaceus replied to Bruce Searl's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thank you David Bay for me i couldn t work out why my single mono track exports were louder than the original....then i tried what you suggested switch the interleave to mono for the mono tracks i was exporting and "voila" exported at the correct level. thankyou very much this was causing me lot of angst and consuming much time. -
thanks for that...but nope i definitely cannot click "anywhere" and make the now time follow . .ive looked at all the transport settings and they seem to be right.
-
Hi all.. i dont know if its possible but ive tried everything and i cant work it out. like it says i want to move the Now time either by right/left click during playback i know i can click in the to top bit (sorry forgot what its called) but i just want to be able to click from wherever i am on the screen. now i know about the setting in Options/click behavior but this only works for me when its stopped not while its playing.. D'ya know what i mean? Thanks

Curious- Why Use a Control Surface?
Bassfaceus replied to razor7music's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
hello following this thread with interest.. hey msmcleod are you saying i can control/manipulate vst plugins with my behringer x touch? -
Thanks everybody...now all i have to do is remember this next time i install a plug in..
-
Yep just worked it out.. save a preset. its a good thing i can play bass..thats all i can say
-
Hello ,me again. where do i set the defaults (if at all) for the export dialog box I.E i want it to remember to set the bit depth at 24 and amongst other things? thanks
-
thanks for that.... but all ive got in the dialog box is rescan failed plugins...which i assume a NEW plug in does not qualify and Rescan all plug ins i cannot work out how to scan for newly installed plug ins ONLY
-
without scanning all of them...which for some of us can take a couple of min or more. hello all....stuck in stage 4 covid melbourne with 8pm curfews is frustrating enough but having to scan all my vst ees to just add one is fairly irritating as well is there in way around this?

I see "no mapping " during learning as well. and as i stated earlier i also have a big 8 channel x touch control surface as well as xtouch mini. regardless of wether i use them together or separate ..same issue
-
Thanks for trying to help me ,azslow3 answers to your questions... 1.. yes xtouch mini is seen as midi device and i am able to setup a connection 2.. all outputs in control pref are set properly 3.. Yes . i see changes in last midi event..as i said earlier, i open the plug in, turn on ACT, wiggle a knob, turn off ACT and it confirms my movement by asking if i want to keep the change,of course i say yes.. but then it does not respond and long press on "B" brings up the AZcontrol window and it say "no mapping" but everything upto this point looks correct. 4.. No because it is connected and recognized and afaik is working properly (except for this issue) 5..Not sure what you mean ..i have an xtouch control surface which i would like to use together with the mini but regardless of wether together or not ,the mini still does the same thing ive tried countless experiments/variations 5.. i dont think the device is ever disconnected because i can still control the transport functions 6..No its coonected directly to USB on the M/B 6.. i have been to device manager and removed all the "ghost " x mini entries ..so not that 7.. ive tried using az actfix in all the ways suggested in the link . Nothing.. anything else i can try? thanks
-
ok this is frustrating.. i just want to be able to manipulate my vst plug in knobs EQ ,compressor etc via the rotary pots on my X touch mini ..thats all. no playback transport control...dont care about that. Now using both azlow AZ controller or the inbuilt ACT midi controller... I can get it to work initaily in a project but then after while (i know scientific, right) it stops working and ive tried everything i can think of to reconnect with either drivers. so all i want is reliable control of the plug in knobs..is anybody doing this? if so please tell me how/what your are using.. OK more details... i setup AZ controller hit ACT button wiggle a vst knob then wiggle an x touch knob and cakewalk says "parameter control were touched etc" just like it should but no lights on the rotaries and when i bring up the AZ display it says no mapping so WTF
-
OK thanks all ive got it clear in my head now... ill check the thing about stereo in my buss...maybe i was imagining it. anyway thanks
-
ok i think im finally getting it.. 2 things.... i have successfully created the drum bass and assigned all my separate drum tracks and it is working properly... but, is it my imagination or does this newly created drum bus sound ever so slightly different than the individual trax? i mainly perceive a difference in the stereo/pan field...it seems a little narrower? also what is the purpose of the AUX track ( vs a bus )..how does one typically use it? Thanks
-
thanks for the replies maybe im misrepresenting myself.. lets say i have 5 channels of drums eg kik snr hats and rak1/2 i have eq ed them and put fx on the individually ... now i want to send them to a bus so that i can control volume and put more comp or eq over all the drum trax what i dont want is the former individual trax to be audible except thru the bus channel..i know i was reading somewhere once that this was an often done thing in multi track recording
-
hello all ive seen lots of youtube clips about this but i just dont get it.. i can set up a bus and use that as an effects send..i understand that but,,, what i want to do is send all of my guitar tracks to a send and runs some eq and fx over them. from what i can gather this is different to just sending them to any old bus is this right? what is the best way to do what i need? dumb ,i know thanks

Weird!? SSD chugs but regular doesnt
Bassfaceus replied to Bassfaceus's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
thanks for the reply.. yes it is plugged into the back usb 3.. just what i was thinking...tomm ill plug into M/B sata port. -
Hi all.. I just bought a 1 TB samsung 860 EVO (so nothing to do with quality of drive) I copied all the stuff from the mechanical drive I had been using over onto it. (cakewalk files loops plug ins etc) and the ssd will chug every now and then when im looping a section for mixing purposes (no nothing to do with too many plug ins) go back to the mechanical, zakly the same number of plug ins ..no chugging ...smooth they are both use my external usb 3 drive caddy ..so what do you think ? I know im disappointed.

yep got it....with your help.. thanks
