  1. Thanks John... I kind of figured this. I’m just not used to spec'ing a minimalist machine. So an i5 3Ghz 4 core with 8G RAM, would be a reasonable machine. I've always been too nervous of anything below an i7. Ha already has a Presonus USB or some such which I know will be sufficient. He has a Presonus Studiolive 24 on his other machine.
  2. I have a friend with a pc setup for CbB which he leaves at his band's rehearsal space. He wants to setup a small system at home just as a scratch pad of sorts. Few if any plugins and maybe a handful of audio tracks. what is considered the lowest realistic specs for such a machine? Thanks
  3. I’m trying to install on a machine that once had both Sonar Plat and Cakewalk by Bandlab. it is win7 the c drive was partitioned by asus when built with 4 partitions on this drive. Two of them being designated as C and D. C no longer has enough space to run CbB so I installed an extra drive and thought I would delete the D partition, expand the C partition and relabel the new drive as D. But I've been stopped at every turn. I can’t delete the D partition. I resized it to minimum but I cannot expand the C partition? So I next opted to install CbB on the D partition but 3 attempts to install (only allows me to redirect cakewalk core) fail during an attempt to install some version of TH3 due to insufficient drive space? What's going on here? What does the old TH3 have to do with a new install? The D partition has approx 500M free space? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Ok. Tried this and got slightly better result. I can insert smaller than 1/4 but I keep getting dotted notes though dotted is not selected
  5. OK... I admit that I haven't used staff view in a long time, But how do I replace a rest? I thought they auto changed when inserting notes but that isn't working either?
  6. Thanks Helene... I'm getting the exact same results in aud.ini or cakewalk.ini ... I can't edit or insert any note values smaller than 1/4
  7. OK... Some other issues with staff view snap after adding the new command in aud.ini... snap... I did this after Helene reported that finally worked for her. I will go back and try editing the cakewalk.ini file again to see if the results are different? Now in staff view. No value smaller than 1/4 will insert. My global is at measure. I tried using both the value in the toolbar and the values in Staff view itself. Whole, half, and quarter all work but eighth, sixteenth, and thritysecond all insert 1/4?
  8. Thanks Helene... That explains a lot! ? I was wondering as I've had a separate value in prv for a long time...
  9. Thanks.... Tried that first but I'm seeing the same results. Maybe I'm expecting something different? What should I see. I already have a different snap value for global and prv. I was expecting a difference to enable/disable?
  10. I too am having strange results. I tried it in aud.ini as well as cakewalk.ini In cakewalk.ini I tried it in wincake and piano view sections. No change in operation. I did my edits with CbB closed each time
  11. Has no one else had the problem of snap responding differently from my keyboard shortcut than clucking the grid on the toolbar? The global and prv snap remain connected from the grid button, but separately from the shortcut? Any thoughts?
  12. Thanks Noel. I have no issue with authorization, but repeated authorization still seems redundant. But as many have stated, small price for getting such a great program for free. Most of us don't even notice it doing constant regular updates. I have one student in Florida who has no internet and no pc savvy. So he doesn’t need/want most updates. It becomes an ordeal to re authorize but hopefully easier now as we've established a small degree of handling this getting someone to go to his house and use a phone/hotspot and me on another phone.
  13. Thanks Noel. That's good to hear. I hope the need for 6 month auth goes away too?
  14. Ouch! I had a feeling it would still be needed for auth, but the 6 month thing still hanging over our necks? Maybe one day you guys will not need that anymore. It's not too bad for me but I have one student that has big problems with this due to lack of wifi and less than minimal pc savvy. OK I can live with it. For me that means I may as well forget the issue and continue on as I have been. Thanks Jonathan...
  15. Just installed. Discrete snap is a bit strange. Added command line to aud.ini If I use my shortcut to enable disable snap they appear separate, but if I click of the grid icon in the toolbar, it affects both? Is this as intended?
  16. Thanks Guys! I'm about to update. If I remember correctly, I'm guessing I will really enjoy the snap separation! ... and removing the need for Bandlab Assistant! Do we still need to keep BA installed if updates is all we use it for?
  17. Pretty Impressive. Some very cool presets to start with. Very nice quality. It reminds me of the surprise when first using a DX7 ? Gonna take a bit of use to get used to it's controls. I've got a basic grasp of the ui, but not a complete picture of how this thing creates it's sounds.
  18. Thanks Simon. Now I understand. I just received my receipt and download instructions so I have the link there too. I'll try in the morning. Something to look forward to...
  19. Thanks. Link worked and I "bought it". Got confirmation on screen and now awaiting email.
  20. No. You don’t convert the plugin. The OP said that there is a standalone version that does work. Rewire that!
  21. Might it be possible to run the standalone as a rewire device? I know that's a stretch.
  22. This has been an ongoing issue since the very first release. While I'm grateful and pleased with the continued development of Cake, The installer issues have have been continuous. Bandlab assistant always fails it’s own updates requiring a fresh download/install. The progress bar can not be trusted. Sometimes it works fine and other times takes very long times to download and gets stuck without completion successful or not. I don’t know what the issues are, but it scares me at every update on every machine/os. It is not only win10. I suffer it on win8.1 and some of my students have the same on win7. I keep hoping for a major revision on this system soon! I miss Cakewalk Command Center?
  23. Also note that most manufacturers require you to setup an account and include access to their' forums. Thanks ou need not use the forums. As to installs? Bandlab Assistant is their' download manager. Tiny with little if any time/attention to install. It offers many tools other than that should you ever chose to use them.
  24. ...Just a thought. It would likely be very handy to have a discrete Volume Slider for each Lane... ...Just Sayin'
  25. Hi Josh. I can’t make a vid at the moment but some instances are easy to see. Open Lanes on two adjacent tracks and try to zoom lanes (use zoom lasso) from both simultaneously. Or a simpler version. Zoom a small area of a few lanes on a track that has many lanes. Thanks for looking into this.
