  1. Same problem here! Sometimes takes me several tries to get an accurate edit point! Not good! I was thinking, maybe we could have a few more months of CbB while they iron out some of these really bad gremlins in Sonar Free!! Really hard to justify moving to an inferior program when you already have one that, while not perfect either, does allow you to work in a more intuitive way!
  2. This could be a Windows problem because I have the same thing happening in the standalone versions of IK Multimedia programs!! It's been happening for a while after an update occurred. Speaking of which, the last few months, my computers have slowed to a crawl on booting up. Started right after a Windows update. Makes me nervous as a Windows 10 user.
  3. All I am trying to say is ,for me, my job is a lot easier with a little more attention to some eye candy for me to stare at for so many hours a day plus days of the week!
  4. In simple speak, IF YOU DON'T THINK THIS NEW LOOK IS HARD ON YOUR EYES, TRY WORKING ON A PROJECT AND STARING AT THAT SCREEN FOR 5 OR 6 HOURS STRAIGHT!! NEXT STOP: OPTOMETRIST!!!
  5. I just installed a version of 8 for my grandson to experiment around with by going to the Cakewalk legacy website, entering my email and password, accessing my account and downloaded it without a hitch. My key codes are all listed as well!
  6. There are some great ideas here!! Let's hope Noel and the gang have started the wheels turning in their heads.
  7. Hi, John! I think you may have misunderstood me! I was not talking about adding a forum here. I was thinking that if CbB becomes deadware after 6 months or so, they could archive the CbB forum and replace it with a Sonar Free forum instead! It doesn't make sense to me to keep a forum for a product that is no longer downloadable or in fact no longer is operational! Just a thought!
  8. Just seems to make sense that if we had a CbB forum, there would be a place for the newbies and users of SF! I would think it would keep the clutter down in the paid SF forum. Also, I think it would be easier to find your response or question without having to dig thru everyone else's in the paid users! Just a suggestion! Would be a nice gesture to potential subscribers as well.
  9. I do not mean to give the impression that the older versions designed for antique OSs would be useable in Windows 10 or 11. I was simply referring to the really old versions could be activated without allowing the hookup for registration. You could simply cancel the connection and Sonar would activate from the key code. Sorry, if I missed anyone!
  10. I have Platinum and X3 still on my drive simply for the available plugins to use in CbB and now Sonar Free. I also kept all the add-on plugins! I also have every version of Cake products from Pro Audio 9 up until Gibson buried it! Along with the registration keys! It is possible to reinstall those older versions with just the key codes, no hooking to the dead server to register. I have all the add-on plugins as well! When Gibson put us out to pasture, I immediately went to my account and backed up everything there! What was not there is maintained on the original disc! I feel like a museum director!!
  11. I uninstalled CbB and all the projects on a usb external HD, would not automatically open from the HD shortcut because I had forgotten to set those projects to be opened be Sonar Free! I had to reinstall CbB and set those projects to be opened by Free before they would open again!! As of now, I have left CbB installed, wondering is it safe to uninstall it now. CbB is not a large program spacewise, but I don't see any reason to keep "Deadware" on my system! BE CAREFUL!!
  12. I would suggest checking your task manager and what processes are running!! I woke up last week to CbB maxing out the cpu meters at 100% across the board!! It turned out that after checking the task manager, I found that somehow , Windows had installed an update for a Hewlett-Packard printer that was eating my cpu alive. I had not used the printer in several years, but somehow the HP update was installed and was creating all kinds of chaos!! I deleted the printer software and everything returned to normal!!! Never saw anything like it and can't understand how that update got in there!
  13. Thanks! Checked my folder and already have it! Sorry!! But thanks for your help.
  14. Instructions aren't clear to me! Do I enter FREE in the discount code box? Or do they automatically take off the $139 price after you complete the purchase? My card can't take that big of a mistake!!!
  15. I have a fellow musician who is blind. He has used JAWS for many years! He recently had someone suggest a reader program called NVDA! It's FREE!! https://www.nvaccess.org/download/ He seems to be very enthusiastic about it! Might be worth a try!
  16. Seems like a revamped version of MasterDesk!
  17. I have done commercialy released cds, radio commercial projects, video soundtracks, and on and on with those Rolands and no one has ever said anything about not having pro quality results! I have mastered tracks for a music hall of fame producer and he liked the results so much, he wouldn't use anyone but me to do all his mastering for the past 12 years! Yes, there are more advanced interfaces out there but these things have held their own.
  18. I bought 2 Studio-Captures in 2013 and they worked even synced together with absolutely no problems for about 6 years until they both developed a problem with the power supply boards internally!!! Still have them with the intention of having them repaired but it was cheaper to buy replacement on ebay! It's still purring along with no hiccups!!
  19. Try reducing velocity in certain points, such as, velocity reduced on verses and slightly increased for chorus and middle sections or during solos! This technique can bring a bit more character to the entire song! Try this with all instruments, not just the drums! Dynamics are the very soul of music!
  20. IMO, good call on Surge! I don't actually do a lot of projects using synths in the box, but I have played around with Zeta quite a bit over the years. Surge XT is a beast! BEWARE! There will be quite a learning curve involved but it would be well worth it!
  21. I do fully enjoy some of the new features, but the brightness of the screen makes it hard for my old eyes to withstand! I worked hard, staring at Cakewalk products since the 90s!! I have earned these cataracts and I intend to enjoy them as long as possible!!! Hee-hee!
  22. I'm prepared for the flamethrowers! This gui is butt ugly!!! Can we have some darker themes, PLEASE!!!
  23. BEWARE! Installed it! Liked it very much BUT my very stable computer started getting wonky, freezing, slow response on clicking, some slight delay in pressing play and actually starting, etc.! Uninstalled both V-pan and Codemeter and cleaned the drive, rebooted and all problems are gone! NOTE: UNINSTALLING V-pan DOES NOT GET RID OF CODEMETER! YOU MUST UNINSTALL CODEMETER AS WELL!!!
  24. FWIW, I have an old Asus laying around mainly for just goofing around. It doesn't meet the specs to even install Tonex! I got the A5 update and installed! The first time opening took almost a full minute! I immediately shut A5 down and reopened it. It opened in about 18 seconds! It does so everytime after that first initial opening! Not too bad for an old dinosaur of a desktop! Will be interested to see the results on my studio computer. It was has Tonex on it. Will keep you posted!
