Cakewalk Latency recording from Roland TD-27 Multi-Track Audio
57Gregy replied to Alex Cordero's question in Q&A
I think I'm completely misunderstanding what you're trying to do. What is the issue? You want to record. live, all the drum outputs of your TD 27 via USB into Cakewalk by Bandlab, on separate tracks, but you're unable to get it working. Is that the gist of it? The USB thing seems to be the hang-up. It seems like you should be using the Roland USB driver to do that. I don't have much familiarity with that vendor. Can you post a screen shot of your Preferences/Devices and Driver Settings? I am almost willing to bet large parts of my anatomy that Cakewalk can do it; just a matter of set-up, I think. I do it all the time (Yamaha keyboard audio output to audio interface input, all tracks muted except the current track, hit record, then on to the next track). Set it up, click record, go get some coffee. -
can't sign into Bandlab from Cakewalk, Get Error Message

I also had this 2x today. Went to the bandlab website, signed in there and no more message. -
I don't watch awards shows, but channel surfing I arrived at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions just as Roger Daltrey was introducing Peter Frampton. "When I was asked if I would induct Peter Frampton into the R&R Hall of Fame, I thought, 'Why wasn't he inducted 35 years ago?'". That led into a great performance of Do You Feel Like We Do with Keith Urban accompanying Frampton.

Now I'm really confused. 😕 But that explains it. -

You're only looking for the channels? Hmm. I thought the event list would show them, but it only shows the input channel, which in my case is 1, since that's what my Yamaha keyboard transmits on. -
How are you hearing the MIDI? Looking at the Roland SD 50, you may be using the sound canvas therein? You wrote "im using bandlab cakewalk on my laptop with its sound card" which implies to me you're connecting the outputs of the SD 50 to the inputs of your internal sound card and hearing an unwanted reverb, which I believe is coming from whatever device you're listening to, not the MIDI file itself. The Roland has many sound effects included, maybe the particular patch you're using has reverb. Or do you hear this unwanted effect on all patches? People smarter than me provided some troubleshooting tips. Have you tried any of them? Knowing how you actually have the Roland connected to the computer and how you're choosing what patch to use could help us help you.

So, no soft synth? Check your sound card for any "enhancements" it may be applying and turn them off.

Welcome to the forum. Where is the reverb coming from? Are you using a software synthesizer? Are you using the computer sound card or an audio interface?

Three cheers for National Health! Hip hip replacement! etc.

We guys think Carrissa Swenson is funny.

This kinda an old thread and Variorum may not see it unless you draw his attention to it by, for instance, quoting him.

The only way I can think of is to delete all unused MIDI tracks and use the Track Manager to select only the MIDI tracks to view. -
Drum sounds from SSD5 are audible but not creating a recording in Cakewalk
57Gregy replied to Edward Allen's question in Q&A
Right. The onscreen drums are just for auditioning the samples. You need to enter MIDI notes (data) in a track with your mouse or an external keyboard, output that data to a soft synth to hear it. Once the MIDI is recorded, you can Freeze the track or Bounce to Track(s) the synth to "record" it. -
I have autosave turned off and try to remember to Ctrl-S often while working on a song.

The OP made 1 post almost 3 years ago and hasn't been back since. Still, your attempt to help is appreciated.

Mr. Cook hasn't been on these forums in over a year.

You're right. Way back when, to get the best audio performance possible, an audio interface with ASIO driver was almost required. Not that the stock sound cards couldn't record and play back, it was to get the latency as low as they could to make it easier to record audio to an audio track of soft synth track. That was/is the goal of all interface manufacturers and software developers. Computers are much better now, faster, stronger and able to leap tall buildings... Oh wait. Microsoft's development of their WASAPI driver has made even the lowly RealTek a contender. Of course, it has the be set up. I also am a hobbyist, you've never heard any of my songs in a movie or TV show. I just record for me and friends and family because recording is something I've wanted to do since the 1960's when me and my brother would record on 2 cassette decks and a reel-to-reel deck to "overdub" ourselves singing and playing guitars. Can you show us some screen shots of your preferences (P) for audio?

Linking tracks so edits on one are applied to the other?
57Gregy replied to sean72's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Never tried it but maybe record your effected and dry takes on L/R side of a stereo track instead of separate tracks. Create your envelopes and edit as needed, then you can later Bounce down to Split Mono tracks if you want, see if the edits go with the bounce. They should. -
Midi not recording on specific project
57Gregy replied to kristian cachia's topic in Instruments & Effects
Welcome to the forum. Does it fail to record MIDI on all tracks of the problem project?
