  1. "Saint James Infirmary" - Bobby "Blue" Bland not the original artist, but I like his version

  3. She looks too cute and young to be able to play bass that well. Quite a talented lady!
  4. A complete opposite? "Surf City" - Jan And Dean
  5. I love Colón's music. He was won of the Fania All-Stars at one time and so was Celia Cruz. Although there were Puerto Rican and Cuban musicians on the roster, the music became known as Nuyorican (New York-Rican). IMO it's not her best, but it's her most famous song... "Quimbara" - Celia Cruz
  6. Bei Mir Bist Du Schön - The Andrews Sisters. When I was a tot and my mom played this record, I thought they were singing "My Dear Mister Shane." Their songs are definitely dated, but the Andrews Sisters were phenomenally good at what they did. Their consonants are pronounced so exactly together that it sounds like one singer with multiple voices. Even their vibratos are often in sync. Harmonies are good and intonation is excellent. Plus there is a lot of playful expression. I think these gals are the all-time best of that genre of music.
  7. "The Valley Road" - Bruce Hornsby And The Range
  8. "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" - John Lee Hooker
  9. Thanks for the translation. I actually own this CD. They released a second one, but it doesn't have the same magic. There is a lot of great Cape Verde Islands music. Here is another Cape Verde song I like from a very good CD find I also own. "Africa Mamae" - Jovino Dos Santos
  10. Raiz - Simentera Very different music from the Cape Verde Islands. I can't understand a word of it, since it's in an Afro-Portuguese language, but I love the vocals, the vocal arrangement especially near the end, the very nice acoustic guitar work, and even the dissonant sax chords. I can't get enough of this one.
  11. A Day In The Life - Jeff Beck (Live @ Ronnie Scott's) IMO Jeff is the most virtuosic rock guitarist ever.
  12. Holiday For Stings - Spike Jones & His City Slickers because sometimes a little silliness is a good thing.
  13. Spain (I Can Recall) - Al Jarreau Al Jarreau's classic version of Chick Corea's already classic Spain. Corea wrote it as an instrumental with an intro based on the second movement of Joaquín Rodrigo's guitar concerto Concierto de Aranjuez.
  14. It's a good day to play this great piece of music: Russian Eastern Overture - Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov - Marinsky Orchestra - Evengy Gergiev conducting
  15. "Runaway" - Bonnie Raitt I met Del Shannon when we gigged in Grand Rapids Michigan, and although I like his version of his song, I like Bonnie's better.
  16. "Chi Coltrane" - Thunder And Lightning This gal can rock and roll - vocals and piano
  17. August Dvorak who partnered with William Dealey to make that keyboard was a distant relative to Antonin who composed that symphony. The keyboard was designed to type faster than the QWERTY arrangement, but not enough people wanted to learn the new system to make it successful. In keeping with the theme: Symphony #7 - Antonín Dvořák - Cleveland Orchestra conducted by George Szell Another nice symphony by Antonin
  18. I.L.B.T's - Joe Walsh (I Love Big T*t's)
  19. For those who have 'true grit' ^^^
  20. Symphony #9, From The New World - Antonín Dvořák - Cleveland Orchestra - George Szell conducting The greatest piece of music ever written on American soil.
