  1. My idea of exercise is a long drive in the country - (any country will do)
  2. Sinfonietta - Leoš Janáček - Sir Simon Rattle & LSO I've not heard Rattle's interpretation of this nice little piece, so here goes...
  3. There was some banned contraband on the band bus. It was hidden in the contrabassoon case in case you were wondering.
  4. Is This Love - Bob Marley And The Wailers We play this song and I always enjoy doing our version of this one. It's a cover, in the style of, but our way. Bob was a good songwriter IMHO.
  5. Voodoo Child - Kenny Wayne Shepherd Riffing on a Hendrix song - (Kenny can play guitar much better than I can - but sax is my main axe)
  6. Funeral March of a Marionette (Marche funèbre d'une marionnette) - Charles Gounod The theme song for the TV show, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents"
  7. We just lost Bonnie Pointer so here is a fun little tune by the sisters written by Allen Toussaint. Yes We Can Can - Pointer Sisters
  8. Walking On Sunshine - Katrina & The Waves
  9. "Electric Boogie" - Marcia Griffiths You know how it goes, no need to post a video. It's the song that just won't die. Bunny Wailer who wrote this song said that it's about a woman's erotic vibrator.
  10. "Highway 61 Revisited" - Johnny Winter IMHO much better than the original
  11. "Five Minutes More" - Frank Sinatra My father's favorite singer.
  12. "Speak Low" - Cal Tjader & Carmen McRae ... doing a song composed by Kurt Weill, with lyrics by Ogden Nash
  13. For a few years, when saxophones were not in great demand, I predominantly played bass, and doubled on sax if necessary. So I listen to a lot of bass lines. I admire the bass playing of John Paul Jones and feel he needs more recognition. He probably doesn't get enough because he rarely stands out, always supports the song, and never gets in the way of the melody. Here is one of his most melodic, it's busy, it soars, but it still supports and never gets in the way of the melody. Listen to the bass playing and see if you agree or not. What Is And What Should Never Be - Led Zeppelin
  14. Symphony #2 in Bm - Alexander Borodin / Valery Gergiev / Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra Borodin was a chemist by profession who also wrote some nice music.
  15. Fire - The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown
