  1. When I was single, I used to hit on girls with tattoos. Why? I figured I'd have a better chance with a girl who is willing to do something that she will regret later. (drum roll and rimshot please)
  2. I read a pretty convincing piece that tattoos compromise your immune system. First of all, a couple of colors of ink used in the USA are banned in Europe as probable carcinogens. More important than that, the ink lodges in your lymph nodes which are major immune system components. When full of ink, the notes turn black, become hard as a rock, and no longer work as the filters, which is their primary function. I'm glad I never got a tattoo. Personally, I don't really find them attractive anyway. But to each his/her own. Notes ♫
  3. Discrimination against the people from Lesbania
  4. I was almost famous once. I was in a band that played the college circuit all over the US east of the Rocky Mountains, and eventually we became the opening act for big stars of the day like The Four Seasons, The Association, The Kingsmen, and about a dozen others. Motown noticed us, and we worked with them for a while, being the opening act for many of the Great Motown groups including a big multi-group concert in Detroit's Cobo Hall. We were supposed to be the first all-white group to be released on the Motown family of labels. All-white wasn't a racist thing, as we never saw any racism at Motown, but Bob Seger was making #1 records on Detroit radio, and Berry figured that if that's what people want, he should supply it. At Motown all that mattered was whether you could play or not. The problem was Motown's last offer was 2 cents per record. Out of our royalties Motown would deduct inflated recording costs, inflated promotion costs and inflated distribution costs. In addition to that, they wanted all publishing rights and royalties, and they would assign a Motown 'ghostwriter' who would not contribute a single note or word to the song but get half the songwriter's royalties. When our manager stood our ground at a slightly better deal, Motown quit hiring and talking to us and picked their second choice, The Sunliners. Of course, as with all the Motown groups, Motown wanted to own the name of the group, so they could hire and fire at will, and have 4 or more groups with the same name touring the country working for union scale. So the Sunliners changed their name to Rare Earth. It was a great experience. It was my first taste of being treated as an equal to the stars of the day, we made very good money while it lasted, and we had a chance to hook up with a lot of young women who just seemed to be attracted to musicians. I have no regrets, it was a party for a couple of years. Later in life, I guess the best thing about never making it is that now I'm not a has-been. Notes ♫
  5. I surprisingly found this to be quite good. Leave The Door Open - Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic
  6. That looks exactly like my first computer. ▲ꜛ▲ My second was an Atari ST - It had MIDI built in.
  7. Symphony #6 - Tchaikovsky - Cleveland Orchestra, George Szell conducting Tchaikovsky is said to have composed this while contemplating suicide because of his homosexuality. He said he wept while composing it, and died by drinking disease infected water soon after. IMO it's a great piece of music. Sometimes anguish can produce great art.
  8. Ray Charles - I Wonder From his early days when he was a blues singer, which IMO is when he was best.
  9. A polar bear walks into a bar and says to the bartender “I’ll have a rum …………………. and coke.” The bartender asks, “What’s with the big pause?” The bear shrugs. “I was born with them.”
  10. Once you are a "you nick" it's not hard anymore ?
  11. I couldn't resist... The Lion Sleeps Tonight (Wimoweh) - The Tokens with one of the worst alto sax solos in rock music - but it works. Notes ♫
  12. Pŭssy Cat - The Ames Brothers (Sorry auto-censor, that's the name of the song)
  13. Just because you are on a diet, doesn't mean you can't look at the menu.
  14. Judas = Traitor so a double association Traitors Gate - Judas Priest
  15. I feel for you Shane. Pets are like family members. I think I cried over my cat more than I did over my own mother. Time heals, remember the good times, that will help, and fell fortunate for the years you had together. Notes
  16. Jelly Jelly Jelly - Bobby 'Blue' Bland I've probably posted this one before, but it's the absolute best version of this old classic blues tune that I've heard (so far)
  17. I'm A King Bee - Slim Harpo The early Stones did a decent cover And to muddy the waters
  18. When I was a child, we went out to an alligator 'farm' (tourist trap) to see alligator wrestling. It was run by the local Seminole Indian tribe. There was this fenced in pond with an overfed alligator on the bank. The 'wrestler' walked in, flipped the gator on it's back and held its mouth shut. They he held his hand up as if to say "Ta-Da". The build up on the primitive PA set was long and scheechy. The whole 'wrestling match' lasted about 3 minutes, if that. Then he flipped the bored gator over again and walked out of the fenced area. The gator went back to sunning itself. I could hear the gator thinking "Oh well! It's a living." Even as a kid I knew that was a ripoff. I liked the glass bottom boats better and eventually became a skin diver so I could go out to the reefs by myself (with a buddy of course). The Seminoles don't do that anymore. They found better ways to make money. In the 1960s and 70s they sold cigarettes on their reservation bypassing state and perhaps federal taxes at a lower price than you could get them elsewhere. Then they found Casino gambling, and they've been rolling in the dough ever since. I gigged at a couple of their Casinos. With all the lights and bells it was like playing in a Hawaiian shirt In front of us were the husbands or wives of their gambling partners. Our job was to keep them entertained, so they don't bug their spouses to take them home. Not the best performing situation, but not the worst either, and the pay was quite good. The staff was very nice to us, even helped us carry the gear in, and when the gig was done, they said we could go to the restaurant and order whatever we wanted, including the steaks, on the house. I think we were among the few winners those nights. We did them for a few years, then a new manager was hired and decided to put in single singing guitarist acts. It was a good run while it lasted.
