Plugin Boutique June Freebie - Softube Dirty Tape
Brian Walton replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
The issue is I think most of us on the forum already got it for free. I know I have it and it isn't the kind of thing I would have paid for. -
Pretty easy #1 or #2 IMO. CPU heavy but also great.

It is a bit different here because de-reverb or de-verb is a category of effect type. It describes what the effect does. It isn't some random name. iZotope already has a tool called de-reverb. De-reverb is a generic term, IMO and it would seem others agree: https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/production-expert-1/5-of-the-most-popular-de-reverb-plugins-take-our-listening-test

Without even trying it Id assume the WAVES one does a better job based on the clarityvx vocal tech. But the question is it worth dealing with the company again to find out. I'm not so sure. Given the different name honestly SPL would not have a case at all . iZotope has far more grounds to call waves into question given how close the name is there.

They have given this away countless times. Not sure where this one came from but anyone with the public summer 20 code could grab it too.

Plugin Alliance $20 Voucher, No Minimum Spend!
Brian Walton replied to Patrick Wichrowski's topic in Deals
One of only a few PA plugins I demo'd and didn't purchase, but I've read good things about it. -
Need is always questionable. I bought this before the super discount and I had LE. What this plugin does that LE doesn't is to auto set settings based on the dynamic range you specify you want the track to be in. It is pretty unique in that approach. Some others will auto set things for you, but by the dynamic range you want is sort of something different. For that I thought it was fun to experiment with. Wish I waited for this $9 sale though.

Scaler is the only plugin I can think of that I paid $50 or more for without any remorse at all. Many of the others there are some doubts about if it was worth it or redundant to what I already had.
-
I added full versions of upright and classic electrics during the pre order. I already had another full classic electric 1 in my account. They only gave me a EZKeys 2 upgrade for the upright. So only 2 authorizations, despite putting two new products in my account during the upgrade period. Will have to see how good the customer support is

NEW PLUG-IN OUT NOW! Introducing Techivation M-Clarity
Brian Walton replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
You would think other companies would stear clear of "M" such and such since Melda named every plugin they have made under that naming convention. -
It is because you never had an issue. Many of us have. Once what you paid for stops working and they ask you to pay just as much as you paid for the plugins in the first place for support to use them again you might understand the plight. Or if you ever have multiple computers with limited USB slots or not wanting to spend time transferring and connecting to the internet. Or your shell scanner takes an extra 10 minutes when you need to add plugins to your folder. Or maybe it will be when they force you into a sub without a perpetual path. There are more reasons to complain than not to with Waves given other options on the market .

HorNET ? SECRET SALE First time ever: HoRNet VHS 70% off
Brian Walton replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Not sure, but I'm certainly on it. They send emails multiple times a week as it is a revolving sales door. Deals are posted here frequently enough. I'd only sign up if you want to know about the free webinars they host related to their own plugins. -
And just like everyone else here (myself included), their opinion is worthless since they have never actually used what they purchased. ?
-
I've only been waiting for it for over a year....
-
Yeah, I heard that about ML Sound Lab too. I've bought IRs from them (honestly some of the best in the business) but those of course you can add to as many machines as you own. The MIKKO2 platform looks amazing (though outside my price range) - I've wondered if it has a 1 install limit as well.
-
Once I figured out the WA plugin authorization system - I put a pause on purchases at any level with them. Not a fan of companies that give you a couple installs then you have to contact support to see if they will reset to allow you to install again. Hopefully I get use out of composer at some point - that is the only thing I paid "real" money for.
-
I had the same dilemma and decided the only way to resolve was just to purchase something to get it. I've got a good chunk of what they released and this was a good excuse to fill a gap in one I didn't have yet.
-
While I get the idea of not officially supporting NEW plugins on older machines...what is implied here also seems to be that archaic versions built for that OS would no longer authorize due to WAVES changes. Plenty of other companies figured out a solid authorization system. Waves has more development money than most of those companies combined Id imagine. Just another example of poor customer service.

I'm not sure what Tomita's rig looked like, but just about all the effects guitarists use today were already available by 1973. Gilmour had already converted a Leslie for guitar use by the end of the 1960s. The Uni-Vibe was also already on the market. Phasers, Flangers, Chorus, Delay (of various types), reverb, fuzz, tremolo, vibrato, wah, and even the talk box etc were available to anyone with money. There hasn't been much in terms of a new category post 1973. Boss Slow gear (i.e. the volume automation) was one of those things that came after though.
-
I added it to the installs for demo when I did the upgrade. Short demo isn't exactly resulting in anything inspiring though. Yet still debating if I should buy it or not.
-
I would have also except I needed the pedal. Wonderful not having to run it on a computer at latency levels that are impractical with other stuff going on. Though I also get use of the desktop app. If it only came with SE I would have never upgraded to MAX. I created a profile that is better than anything IKM has done which fulfilled the dream of capturing a particular amp that is Uber rare.
-
I wouldn't think it will give you a "dent" in an upgrade to MAX. But unless you are getting hardware that comes with a bundle of the program. Honestly, this isn't like other SE programs where you need more. ToneNet gives you tons of free stuff - some of which is better than what IKM captured. And then there are 3rd parties that sell profiles. While some of what IKM captured and is included in a higher tier than SE is good, a lot of it is mediocre. But the platform itself is amazing. ToneX pedal gets you MAX or consider the new entry level AXE I/O which has a entry level Software bundle so you can capture your own stuff. (use JamPoints) SE at $50 is a good route if your plan is only to use captures in the software environment.

It is basically a Leslie sim and costs more (including outside the sale but does cost less than MRotary which has Multiband) I think the IKM one sounds better/more like a Leslie specifically. I haven't checked CPU usage on both though.
