It has some pretty decent flexibility in tonality but as far as I can see there is no way to palm mute individual note positions. It can mute each individual string but it appears to do that as an open string mute only. Keyswitches can change how the string is played but nothing as yet has made a satisfying palm mute sound. If I've missed this glaring feature someone please school me up? I have also found that I need to change the legato mode and turn the rotary on the guitar towards 'release' for faster playing. If you already have Modo, this likely won't do anything for you. That being said, if Waves were to perhaps add some palm mutes and a staccato mode, it would put it higher up there in usability. But as it stands this plug has some nice thick bass sounds that I would rate as: usable enough for 20 bucks! ? Though the HD is definitely better than SD. I have found that in the SD version, the additional noises like fret buzz and string rattle, sound a bit over-pronounced and fake.

Presonus have just started selling Cherry Audio in their store, perhaps they have pitched in with some modulation capabilities within Studio One?

Is Cakewalk gaining users/popularity with Bandlab?
Royal Yaksman replied to Feral State Sound's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Cakewalk has simple and easy stem bouncing options. Really any DAW that makes bouncing stems easy, is great for collabs because then it doesn't matter what DAW anyone is using. If you are talking sharing the entire project fx, automation and all? Well the argument could be made that with Cakewalk being free, that it is actually the easiest DAW to collab with because all the other people need to do is download it, watch a couple of hours of 'how to' vids and then they are ready to get going without reaching into their pockets. -
Are you telling people about CakeWalk by BandLab?
Royal Yaksman replied to Shawn Lee Farrell's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I have suggested it to quite a few people. Especially those who use something like Ableton or FL Studio and are looking for a traditional DAW for certain procedures. But most of the time when I get to the part about it being free. Instead of excitement, they tend to pull a face and shrug. Then some weeks later when I speak to them again, it turns out that they ponied up dough for either Pro Tools, Cubase or Studio One and didn't even bother trying Cakewalk. I'm really not sure how you can beat free as a sales point? But I think it is likely that this DAW needs the similar tales, legends and mystique of the others, to make people want to check it out. Perhaps once some bedroom producers get big and start talking about it, then it will be an awfully easy sell. -

So there I was just this last week, testing MDistortion and deciding that I'm going to get it when it comes up on sale and now, well here we are!? -
It's handy for splitting apart busy drum loops and then makes it easier to use drum replacement. But probably the coolest thing is putting non-percussive material into it and then you can put different effects/processing on the separate split parts before summing them back together. It can help with some really interesting sound design on loops that have probably been used a thousands of times before and turn them into something fresh.

BUGS and BIGS ISSUES EXPLAINED IN THIS VIDEO
Royal Yaksman replied to Jaime Ramírez's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
If the guy's studio is near Chernobyl, maybe the residual radioactivity is messing with his setup?? -
Did XLN seriously just try to sell us a collated version of our DAW browsers for 180 smackeroonies?... I mean sure I'll pay that, but only once I see an official promise to deliver a complementary reach around in the licensing for the product.

Drummers... You've Been Replaced!
Royal Yaksman replied to Royal Yaksman's topic in The Coffee House
I think the only reason your drummer trap didn't work is because you also needed to put a sign on the front lawn that read: "Drummers I respect you as musicians. I will also allow you to write songs and even try my best to play to whatever weird rhythm/timing/groove that has taken your fancy on any given week. This is not just BS so I can finish my EP and later dump you for someone much better, or replace all your hits with much, much better recorded samples. Though please note this is a world of give and take and that being said, would it kill you to shower?!!" -

Drummers... You've Been Replaced!
Royal Yaksman replied to Royal Yaksman's topic in The Coffee House
Imagine opening a new box expecting to smell factory fresh, new plastic toy scent, but instead that smell is sweaty armpits, whisky breath and the remnants of a questionable wiping technique. I guess they could call it: the stench of authenticity. -

Problem Cakewalk and Roland OctaCapture
Royal Yaksman replied to Alcar28's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I use a Quad Capture and I would recommend making sure that you have listed the Octa Capture driver as an exception in your antivirus program. There is something weird that seems to have happened under windows 10 with the older Roland devices. My PC kept wanting to switch or deactivate the driver. Listing it as an exception fixed all the freeze ups and issues I was having with it. -
I like Neely's stuff, even though I'm not sure I'd ever use much of it? His vid on 7/11 polyrhythms is a mind bender, though he does a good job of explaining how to count it out:
