  1. No, sir. I don't have any recommendation besides AcousticSamples. I read some people are unhappy about UVI's own libraries after they enjoy AS stuff. So I decided to avoid them. Virharmonic has UVI-based string libraries, but they're switching to UJAM's Gorilla Engine. Your thought about Kontakt isn't unfounded. I believe it's the first sampler with scripting capabilities available to the 3rd parties. I wasn't totally fair about KSP. Despite its warts, it's an adequate DSL (domain-specific language) running on a decent platform that allows developers to implement sophisticated logic for their sample libraries. Steinberg's Halion is another sampler that uses Lua.
  2. Both software run natively on Linux.

  4. Likely. Its functionality had be written in a real programming language called Lua, instead of the atrocious KSP of Kontakt.
  5. I know right? I have JBass and the guitar collection from them. Can't be happier. Recommend anything from AS?

Glad to hear it worked out well for you. I'm looking forward to the next sale to grab my copy. How do you plan to use Guitar Pro for your next songwriting session? Like, coming up with a riff or something, and then write it down in Guitar Pro immediately.
  7. https://audioplugin.deals/bass-collection-by-acousticsamples/ Ends October 1st.
  8. Apparently both XLN and UJAM's idea of "hit" is Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper. Those smacking snares...

Happy birthday! I love reading about old computer stories. Mine only go back to the late 90s... I could happily make songs with softsynths and samples on my Pentium. What were your first computers you used to sequence MIDI, and do hard disk recording?
  10. Hehe, we always need more inputs!

When things go awry, RAM is the usual suspect. 32 GB isn't bad, of course. It's just everything else in your rig is absurdly high. Eight-core i9 possibly running at 5 GHz + 8 TB of SSD + UAD DSP accelerator... I was curious why did you suddenly go modest with one of the most important components of the computer: memory. A six-core i5 from the same generation with higher memory can perform better than your computer in certain situations, but you might or might not hit that bottleneck, depending on the usage. I have plans to leave sample libraries altogether. With recorded instruments and outboard synths triggered by MIDI, I can work on a potato.
  12. I dislike gaming mouses with many buttons due to accidental clicking, but they're usually very comfortable.

Thank you. We should have a forum to discuss plugins, apart from discounts.
  14. It's excellent for DAW. Twelve-core beast. K version is the same thing, but it lets you overclock, if you want, but that means high temperature. Its cooler shouldn't make an audible noise unless you're really close to the case. You might want a decent PSU and case, as they're the ones that make noise.
  15. Looks cute. I'd like more buttons, knobs, faders to control the DSP FX. https://www.behringer.com/series.html?category=R-BEHRINGER-XENYXSERIES

So are Finale, Sibelius, Dorico, Notion, MuseScore 4 which all support VST.

Meanwhile, I find it weird that Guitar Pro doesn't support VST plugins.

But, but, the point of Guitar Pro for us is to escape the DAW and have a focused, self-contained songwriting tool...
