  1. It sounds like you did solve the problem. Congrats!!
  2. With the cents changing in USD listings, I am wondering if the differences are the result of exchange rate changes. I'm not sure if those rates swing as widely or as frequently as equity markets, but maybe.
  3. I just looked at what I think is the manual for your synth. If its the right one, it sounds something is going on with it. https://static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/FANTOM-XR_OM.pdf , page 179: Those pages seem to say you can set up the Fantom to ignore certain data if I am reading the manual correctly. For example: If you downloaded a freely available MIDI file done by someone else and as a result you are either (a) hearing only track 1 coming from CbB or (b) hearing all CbB tracks being played on the Fantom's Channel, perhaps there is a command there that is resetting the Fantom to cause it cause either (a) or (b). This tells me that the Fantom has some sort of default so that the "reception channel" in "Patch mode" is set to 1. If its a multi-timbral synth in multi-timbral mode that's being sent midi data on multiple channels from CbB and all you are getting is midi notes being played on channel 1, to that suggests maybe some sort or reset was done. Sorry; I have never even see one of these synths. All I can do is ready the manual and try to guess what might be happening. Maybe there's another user that has more experience with this gear. Have you tried either Roland support or a Roland Forum? Any multi-channel MIDI files I ever downloaded, played my multi-timbral synths with different sounds on different channels. Maybe someone knows if there's something in CbB that might cause the results you are getting?
  4. (1) The MidiView screen shot shows that not all the midi channels are being sent the same patch data. Some are, but some channels are being sent different patch commands. (2) If all the tracks were routed to the same midi channel, the note data would most likely be the same. Is that what's happening? I was under the impression that the note data was different, but the patches weren't. I think it was in the other thread that Louis said he already checked to make sure the Fantom wasn't in Omni mode. Maybe I misread that?
  5. WOW!!! That's one of the synths I was using to test sending programmed CV CCs from VM to CbB this week. I had picked it up when I upgraded to Synth Stack 2. $16.72 is definitely lower than the per-synth price I paid when I added the ones I didn't have.
  6. I have never had that happen (that I know of) where a Bank Select + Program Change pair in the middle of one channelized track triggered Bank Select/Program Changes on other tracks. I will defer to other users that might have ideas on what might have caused that. Sorry I couldn't help.
  7. I am puzzled by that since the patch on each channel is not the same for all tracks and only channels 1 - 7 + 10 were affected.
  8. Oh. You posted the same problem in two different threads! ?
  9. Are you saying you sent out one bank select + program change pair embedded in one track and that caused bank select + program changes on channels 1 -> 7 and 10 (with different patches on each channel)?
  10. I remember this issue from several years ago. In some cases with a collapsed control bar, there were sizing issues as you noted. I don't remember if I found a way to design a Workspace and/or save a project so this didn't happen. However, for the past several years I have been using a shortened floating Control Bar and I totally forgot about this issue until you mentioned it.
  11. Nahhhh. If advertisers don't follow the rules, someone has to let the mods know, such as by reporting it as spam. I think its a bit much to expect the mods to read every post. Update: It looks like this poster knew about the policy discussion: Update # 2: It looks New Loops has been advertising here for at least a year:
  12. **Its off topic here, but I just wanted to report back very briefly on the last point--sending MIDI data out from VM from within CbB to control plug-ins hosted in CbB. I am now sure it can be done. For example, LFO, EG+VCA, etc. controlling several parameters in different soft synths via CCs. It's more work setting it up than using Unify, though, but it can be done. Thanks to @cclarry and @abacab for the inspiration to give this a try!!
  13. Resources for Cakewalk include the Cakewalk Reference Guide which you can download / view as a searchable PDF. There's also online documentation--such as the link to instrument definitions quoted above. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=toc.html goes to the online Table of Contents. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=ix.html goes to the Index. HMSF [Hours Minutes Seconds Frames] and MBT [Measure Beat Tick] are listed in the Index. As for the basic of MIDI there's a ton of info on the web. You don't need to know programming and hex, but to me MIDI data structures make more sense in hex than decimal. For learning Cakewalk as a beginner, there are a number of videos.
  14. Thanks for the reply. Since I don't have Unify and have no plans to get it (unless there is a ridiculously low "no-brainer" deal coming up somewhere), I wasn't interested in all of the the details of how to set it up in Unify. But I will finish watching the end in case there are some things I missed. I was interested in feedback to make sure I had distilled the basic function correctly. As you know, I use Voltage Modular as an FX processor. I also use it as a VSTi host for multiple software synths and have applied CV's to multiple hosted plug-ins. However, the video gave me the idea to route MIDI knobs from my Proteus 2500 into VM in such a way as to specifically control LFO's which in turn modify different parameters in different plug-ins in different ways. I have used the P2500 to control both VM modules and hosted plug-ins. So my thought was to use the knobs [MIDI DATA] to control LFO parameters [via MIDI to CV] for starters to control multiple hosted soft synths via exposed parameters. From what you described, it sounds like Unify does something a bit different, though I should be able to get some similar results. Later on I can look into the possibility of sending MIDI data out to control to control plug-ins hosted in Cakewalk. Not sure I can do that. Again, thanks for the comments; they help clarify a few things for me. For people that already have Unify, I think this new feature should be amazing!
  15. Just to be clear, an on-topic question was asked about a prior post that included a screen shot of the Event List showing Program Change and Bank Switch commands. I chose to answer it directly. Over the past year or two there have been other threads that touched on the use of the Event List. Some people use it for specific tasks; other see no need for it. There are a number of reasons why someone would put multiple Program Change Commands in a single track, not just at the beginning.
  16. I think there are major differences. Some have a long history of making contributions for the benefit of forum member other than just providing links to products they are selling. Others are vendors with a direct financial interest in making sales that just show up and post links to advertise and provide links for what they sell. I really don't want to mention names, but if you think about who has posted what kind of content in their posts over the years (in the previous forum and in the current forum), I think it should be evident that there are differences.
  17. Looks interesting. Do I understand it correctly? A single LFO set up to output MIDI CC data is being used to do different things with different ranges for different parameters in different plug-ins?
  18. 1:03:00 has a single patch change command. 2:01:00 has a bank switch command followed a patch command. Different gear use different bank switching methods. Some, like the one here uses two bytes--an LSB (Least Significant Byte) and an MSB (Most Significant Byte). The patch change at 1:03:00 uses the current bank, so only the patch change is needed. The patch change at 2:01:00 is in a different bank, so the bank has to be switched using a value sent using CC 00 and CC 32. The Bank Switch [aka Bank Select] command needs the following Program Change command to actually switch the patch / preset. Hope this helps. Thanks for asking.
  19. IIRC, the page that says "Connected Products" shows products that came after the ones you own as shown by the first screen shot.
  20. Oh. Maybe I misread what you wrote. I thought you were saying my comment was not appropriate. Thanks for clarifying that.
  21. Doubt it. (The following vitriolic opinion is mine, YMMV) . . . I agree that YMMV. If I weren't a big fan if delays/tape echoes, I would have blown it off and not spent the time trying to make it work. But I have a passion for delays/echoes. Others might have a passion for different pieces of gear. So it depends. I just scratched the surface of the EC300 today and I am glad I stuck with it. For me it has some useful features that I will likely make use of at times as needed. As I was struggling to sort out the issue, I mentally invoked some choice words involving the McD/MacD association, so I appreciate the "McDSP with cheese" comment. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a manual for the EC300. However, I have found some informational resources, including: an SOS overview/review article https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/mcdsp-ec300 a series of McDSP TV video
  22. Thanks for the comments! I figured out what happened. The problem started with an accidental user error on my part. That led to a condition that was not readily apparent. This morning I downloaded the current McDSP Windows Native installer and ran that. When that didn't work (wrong version error warning), I checked and saw that the promo was for v6. So I Revo Uninstalled v7 including looking for left overs via the Advanced search method and then installed v6. (Revo Uninstaller runs the program's uninstaller first and then has 3 levels of searching for left overs. ) It looked like everything with the EC300 v6 installation was successful. Unfortunately I kept getting the activation code request which resulted in green checks in iLok followed by an iLok pop-up that said I had exceeded code redemption limit. It really should have been a wrong version error pop-up!! Finally, I was able to activate the EC300.dll in Voltage Modular using VM's Plug-In Host Module. But, when I again tried the vst3 version, I still got the request for the activation code. After some detective work, I decided that the v7 vst3 was still on my PC . I suspect the v7 version of EC300.vst3 in my VST3 folder (1) may not have been uninstalled and (2) was not replaced by the v6 installation with the older EC300.vst3. It seems that by renaming EC300.vst3 to EC300.BUvst3, I forced the v6 installer to add the older one [v6] to my VST3 folder. Both the dll and vst3 now work in VM with approx. 56 exposed parameters, including UI Scale! ? BTW, I am using iLok Manager, so for me the EC300 is in the cloud and I have concluded that iLok correctly deactivated and then reactivated the plug-in. So I am going with mainly user error on my part because (1) I unknowingly installed the current setup installer and (2) I trusted the v7 uninstallation process as well as the v6 installation process.
  23. I agree it shouldn't be an either/or situation. I have no reason to make a feature request. I can accept a rule that no one should comment on any one else's feature request if that is to be the rule. From what I have seen though, commenting on suggestions made by others happens. Just to be clear, I use both offline and online documentation based on which one would meet my needs at the moment. However, based on what I have read in the forum, I am sure some people prefer one over the other. I disagree that I did anything improper. I did not say it should be one or the other.
