  1. Back in the day there were also plugins which had different versions for the number/types of outputs they had. Some older versions of Kontakt did this as well as LinPlug's drum machines (RM III, RM IV, RMV) There's also plugins having the FX version (original z3ta+)
  2. Don't forget the LE versions you may have updated and all the software which has a different plugin for each version number. There's also the 32 bit and 62 bit versions, demos, etc. I imagine that for those of us on the high end, bundles add a lot to that. I have tons of things I don't use from IK's group buy last year, there's a lot in the Nomad Factory bundle, etc.
  3. I was thinking more like the expansion from the Roland days.
  4. My main issue with the setup program is that it asks you setup information for every single program. It would take a lot less time if you could just kick it off and let it run. It's not like after not installing the AAX version for the first 32 plugins, I am suddenly going to want that for Wurli V.
  5. My price was $269. I appreciate you putting up this link because on the My Account page they only gave me the option for the Cinematic Compendium. It's nice to see that I had four other options.
  6. I found that it is great for creating percussion parts. Take a simple hi hat loop and run it through one of the more rhythmic patches in Objeq Delay and you will see what I mean.
  7. A lot of the patches here are variations on a theme. They share similar architecture, but are not just the same rack with different settings of the knobs. For example, in version 1 you might have a cable going from point A to B, in version 2 the cable goes from C to D, and might not be there at all in version 3. There are some analog plucks, dirty basses, dubstep wobbles, percussion sequences which sound like they could have been made with Chromaphone, guitar like things, individual drum sounds, something that sounds like a Peruvian flute mashed up with tabla drums, a few typical sequences, and some saturated sounds. I don't know what they included for Swatches, but you can get a better idea here on the demo page. https://www.applied-acoustics.com/modular-city/
  8. Yeah, we wouldn't want them to spread their resources so thin that their flagship synthesizer ships 8 months late and without a functional browser.
  9. I actually used "growing fonder" as a title of one of the pieces I was going to use as a demo for my Absynth patches. Or maybe that was the name of a patch I wrote.
  10. I had a whole bunch of really cool Rapture patches I created. I thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if I sold them. And then Cakewalk went out of business. I also had a few cool sounds for RMV. Then I realized I had a lot of cool Absynth patches and there's no longer Absynth. I'm thinking, maybe I should go around to synth developers and pay me not to develop patches for them. "Hey, Xfer, I see that you've got a nice synth called Serum there. It'd be a shame if anything were to happen to it..."
  11. The Expansions all tend to have Battery content.
  12. Where's the button for "I hate what you are saying even though you are probably right"?
  13. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/samplers/kontakt-7/ COMING IN OCTOBER 2022 For 20 years, KONTAKT has been the backbone of countless film scores and pop hits, as well as thousands of incredible instruments from NI and your favorite NKS developers alike. Now, with a new HiDPI browsing experience, an overhauled Factory Library, new creative effects, and under-the-hood audio improvements, the next evolution is nearly here. KONTAKT 7 will launch in October 2022 and is included with KOMPLETE 14 STANDARD and above.
  14. I can't believe they got rid of that one.
  15. Yes, I saw a new email for this on Saturday only to find out it was the same thing I downloaded 6 months ago. I don't know that I've used this for anything but I really haven't been swimming in time lately.
  16. The way it categorizes content is nice. It allows you to view all of your applications, kontakt libraries, reaktor ensembles separately. Unless you are part of their Kontakt Now subscription, I don't think it is necessary.
  17. Run Native Access to update. Changelog is on their forum. https://community.native-instruments.com/discussion/4823/official-update-status-native-access-current-version-2-4-0#latest
  18. Bitwig is the same way. Their midi preview only plays a simple sine wave, which is useless for auditioning drums.
  19. I would like them to update the browser. It would be nice if you could tag presets so you could easily navigate to the ones you want to use for a given application (drums, guitar, vox, etc).
  20. That's why I said "we'll give it to you when we release it" as opposed to "when it's ready". Which is absolutely mind blowing to me. These guys invented tagged browsing and three years after the release still have a patch browsing system that can't compete with the first wave of CM plugins?
  21. They are definitely due in a month or two. As for Kontakt 7, it could turn out to be one of those "we'll give it to you when we release it" things like Massive X. As for Soundwide integration, I think it's too soon for that, although there are some synergies that might be nice to explore.
  22. For everyone complaining about the lack of content releases, is there something you are looking for in particular, or do you just want shiny new things? Most of the rock stuff I do sounds fine with Fairfax. Sometimes I'll do stuff that might be called Neo-Soul, and for that it's Kontakt's Abbey Road 60s. For electronic stuff I use Battery or RMV. It's crazy, but there's a 20 year old library from Wizoo I still use for chillout things. I can't say I've felt the need for more drum packages.

    NI FM8 for $12

I would be a little surprised, considering that it's a fairly complete synth which goes well beyond the original concept of being a DX7 synth. Most of what it needs are more in line with compatibility updates as opposed to features. But the effects are a bit dated (and while cool, I always thought that PsycheDelay was an odd inclusion) Who knows, maybe they can include some of their updated effects, add the compatibility stuff, update the interface, and that might be enough to call it FM9 and stick it in Komplete?
