Thanks! This is still the original version. For the most part I think the level of the piano is fine, but there are a few spots where it's carrying the main theme and I want to bring it forward since it does get a little buried by the orchestra. I just haven't had a chance to work on it.

Thanks, Kenny. I kind of knew I was cranking the tympani a little, but I love the sound of that low boom On the other hand maybe with the snare I was a little nervous because of the great Cardinal drum controversy ? Jeff

Thanks so much.

Thanks so much, Tom. That's exactly what I was aiming for. I agree, I think I need to bring the piano forward a little. Jeff

The vote tally is running around 6 for and 6 against the drums So I posted a version with just the solo piano. Thanks everyone for the feedback, it's really helpful.

Beautiful. I really enjoyed it.

I did indeed enjoy the guitar playing.

Really enjoyed that. I know it's a backing track, but you blend in well and I love your singing.

Nice song. What's it about?

Hi Kenny, Many thanks! Good suggestions there. I especially like the idea of adding a Tuba! Ah, the famous two-legged donkey of Santorini! Yep, that's me ? I'm impressed you remembered, since it's been like ten years since I last posted here. Impressive. Great to hear from you Kenny!

After a long and rewarding life, my father passed away earlier this year. When I was younger and would sit down to play the piano, he would always ask me to "play something soothing to the spirit". I wrote this song in hopes of honoring this request.

Thanks, freddy! Thanks for listening and the feedback, daryl. Ragtime is a lot fun, isn't it? So it seems the drum tally so far is four against and three for. So far the 'nays' have it ?

Thanks, I really appreciate it.

Thanks! I had heard about the sale to Gibson, but all the other stuff is news to me. Interesting to read.

Freakin' Awesome! The title made me click. The groove kept me listening. -
Hmm, well it seems the drums aren't too popular which is a bummer since I spent a long time on them ? For what it's worth I was shooting for a cross between Scott Joplin and Professor Longhair, where he often has a drum, horns and bass backing him. Well, at least I got the Joplin part down ! ? Thanks everyone for the feedback. Jeff

Thanks, Erik! Well, I have to say, I was pretty happy to find out I get the latest and greatest version without having to pay any upgrade fee. That was a pleasant surprise!

Thanks bayoubill! It's fun to get back into it after such a long time, but it feels like I am having to relearn almost everything from scratch again!

Thanks for the feedback. I tried to put variation into the drums to avoid them sounding mechanical. I'll go back and work on it some more.

I always loved the Elder Scrolls music. The music from the Amanita Design games (Machinarium, Samarost) are also wonderful. The soundtrack from Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery was another standout for me.
