  1. Thanks, Barry. The piano is a Yamaha Clavinova CLP 685 digital piano. We got it about 6 or 7 months ago. It truly is an awesome instrument! Jeff
  2. Thanks so much, Philip. I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment. And the Jarrett reference!
  3. Based on the comments, I made some changes to the piano sound and midi velocities, and let the final note fade out. Thanks everyone for the very helpful feedback!
  4. Thanks. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment!
  5. As a non-drummer, myself, I can sympathize. I find getting a good groove with the drums that sits well with what I am trying to achieve one of the hardest things to do right. If I could be be more specific about suggestions, I would but I'm not even sure how to express it.
  6. +1. When I first replied, I thought this was a professional piece. I've tried a couple piano/orchestra pieces myself, but I thought what you accomplished was much higher quality. I'd be curious to know more details about how you processed this (reverb used, compression if any, mixing, etc.). Thanks!
  7. Interesting suggestion. Thanks! I was thinking of trying different piano presets in Kontakt to try and soften the sound, but this is also something I will give a go. Thanks for the feedback! Jeff
  8. Thanks, Mark for listening and the feedback. I did play it to record it, but it's midi, so I'll take a look at the velocities and play with them. Appreciate the comment.
  9. Reminds me of an old saying - hug the musician, they never get to dance. Really enjoyed it.
  10. Really impressive. It kept me interested through-out. I really enjoyed all the changes, and the sax player was great!
  11. Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo is a famous song originally written by Fayyaz Hashmi. It's based on Yaman Kalyani raga. It's one of my father-in-law's favorite songs and he requested I record it, so this is my piano arrangement. As always, comments, suggestions, and criticisms are appreciated. Update : Based on the comments I softened the piano sound, played with the EQ, adjusted the midi velocities to try and smooth out the sound. Oh, and I also let the final notes fade out. Thanks everyone for the feedback. Jeff
  12. Bjorn, Nigel, Makke, and Douglas, Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. I really appreciate your feedback.
  13. I wish my "finished" stuff sounded have as unfinished as this. Beautiful.
  14. I couldn't concentrate on the music until I turned my monitor off. Once I did, I really enjoyed the song. Loved the chord changes.
  15. I really enjoyed it. I loved the acoustic groove and the Gibson sounds great. Fun lyrics. To be honest, the one the minor thing that didn't seem to sit quite right to me were the drums.
  16. I've always liked oddball time signatures. Well done holding it together and maintaining the groove. That's tricky.
  17. Love the guitar tones. Nicely done. I'm curious what you are using for the organ.
  18. Very chill. I could see this being used in a road-trip montage of a Tarantino movie. Sounds great on my cheap headphones.
  19. Day off from work - check. No kids in the house - check. New camera to play with -check. (ok, technically it's my wife's anniversary present, I'm just borrowing it...) Time to do some recording! Willie Fugal's Blues by Professor Longhair. One of my favorites.
  20. Thanks so much! It's actually a mrindangam, not a tabla. It's from the south of India. I used the Native Instruments India vst.
  21. For what it's worth, I can't take much credit for the guitar tone. It's basically a preset in Guitar Rig, that I tweaked a little bit. Thanks for the listen!
