@Greg Schlaepfer Do you have anything that shows more of the presets from Evolution Vintage Gent? My favorite presets are the crunchy ones, and I went through the video while multitasking, but it only seemed to have a few crunchy presets. Do you have any other files / examples with more of the crunchy presets? Those are what I love most with that guitar. 

Listening to the three demos on the OTS site, none of them even have the crunchy presets / sound that I most enjoy from this guitar. They're all more country-ish. And while they sound excellent, they're not the sounds that I gravitate to for my uses.  Unfortunately, I don't have any songs on my SoundCloud account that prominently feature Evolution Vintage Gent (I do use it on songs, but not that I've finished and uploaded). 

@Scott H, if you haven't already heard this, the preset walkthrough for the guitars is always invaluable when researching them. I've skipped over to the preset walkthrough for Evolution Vintage Gent. But this doesn't contain a lot of my favorite crunchy presets (it only contains a fraction of the presets).

I was eagerly waiting for BandLab to announce whether Sonar would be subscription only or whether it would also be available via a perpetual license. It appears, like Waves once did for a time, that Sonar is only going to be available via subscription. 

I'm a long time Cakewalk and Sonor user (going back to the Twelve Tone days, even before Sonar was introduced) and have been very happy with what BandLab has done with Cakewalk. Giving us several years of the product for free is more than generous. However, I cannot justify a subscription for my music hobby, and if Sonar is going to remain subscription-only, I regret that I will be transitioning away from BandLab to Studio Pro One (I own a perpetual license, but have been primarily using Cakewalk). 

I hope that BandLab management will reconsider it's decision and offer  a perpetual license option, as I, like many hobbyists, greatly prefer it over subscriptions.

I have all of the guitars and definitely find that there are certain guitars I use more often than others. Even though I'm doing rock music, not jazz, I find myself reaching for Jazz Archtop a lot -- very often when I'm working on a song and lay down piano (often where I start, as piano -- in the real world -- was my first instrument).  I also use it for single note parts in verses of songs. As I mentioned earlier, I used it on some of the improvised lead parts for my cover of "Can't Get it Out of My Head" and I think that's not a guitar most would expect used for that case, but I find it worked really well. I tend to use Jazz Archtop with very acoustic / unplugged and lush arrangements, as opposed to more aggressive arrangements. 

My favorite use of Vintage Gent is for crunchy guitar sounds. Some of the crunchy presets have a grit to them that reminds of Neil Young's electric guitar tone (I'm not sure if he ever used this guitar, but some of the crunchy presets remind me of his tone on some songs and maybe 90s era Jayhawks, if anyone knows them). I find it perfect for certain types of indie rock, and folk rock.  If you're a jazz musician, Greg has a strong background in jazz and could give great advice for that genre.  I love jazz, but don't have the chops to attempt it; I'm just happy to crank out a rock song. 

This is a private (unshared) song on my SoundCloud account. I meant to redo the vocal, as I played and sang this when I had COVID and was in isolation around Christmas time last year. It was a bit of a Christmas present to my wife, as when we met, we were friends first, and bonded over loving the songwriting and singing of Neil Finn. So, isolated, I thought it might surprise her to record one of the first Neil Finn songs we both heard that turned us into fans. My singing is never great, but with COVID, it's a bit worse and an octave lower. But otherwise, I think I did a decent job. Any mixing advice is especially appreciated. Otherwise, I already realize that some good advice would be to get a better singer!

I suppose you do have a point -- to a certain extent. Django did pretty good without having all 10 digits. So does Tony Iommi.

Still, it is convenient to have all 10 digits, just in case.

I've contemplated picking that up. I'd love to hear from someone who has it and how they use it. Even better if someone shared a track showing how they used it. 

I imagine it could work on aggressive progressive-ish rock tracks, but I'm not totally sure if it gives me something I can't get by putting a dry solo acoustic cello through Guitar Rig, which I've done and enjoyed.

I use  the Jazz Archtop regularly,  including two tracks I'm currently working on. I used it on my cover of ELO's "Can't Get It Out of My Head" for the improvised guitar parts during the verses. It's awesome for jazz, R&B, folk rock, acoustic rock and mellow rock.

I have yet to download and install Boutique Acoustic. I'm hoping to do that this weekend. I ran out of drive space and got a couple of new drives.

They've had this offer a bunch of times,  and it is pretty darned compelling. Just for Piano in Blue, Keyboard in Blue and the Tina Guo libraries,  it is pretty dang tempting. There's no question that Cinesamples makes great Kontakt libraries. If this was for Kontakt, Player or non-Player, it would be one of the biggest no brainer buys I've ever seen. 

To anyone who has played both the Kontakt and Musio versions,  how does the scripting/playability of say the Tina Guo Musio libraries compare to the Kontakt equivalents?

I've never gotten one that speaks Italian yet. And once, just to keep my kids laughing, I responded to the telemarketer in Spanish instead of Italian. He didn't question it and hung up on me.

Okay, I'm publicly sharing my tip that I only focus on unsolicited telemarketers-- because I'm on the do not call list (a list that means marketers can't call unless you gave your express permission in advance)  it's both effective for getting rid of telemarketers and making my family laugh. This is only a tip for Americans. 

I pick up the phone and do the least convincing Italian accent possible -- I basically channel Adam Sandler's Opera Man -- and say, "Ciao!" I repeat it a bunch of times and it's been extremely effective at getting telemarketers to hang up. As they assume that I can't speak English.  

Now I recommend doing it with a language from your own ethnic background (it would be more offensive to pick a background  that isn't you're  own, and we're only aiming for semi offensive here). I'm part Italian and my real name is very Italian, so an Italian accent makes sense when a solicitor sees my name and the accent is somewhat influenced by my great grandfather *(from Italy), but also Father Sarduchi, Adam Sandler,  and Mario (of Mario and Luigi).  If your name is, say, Irish,  it probably won't be as effective to speak Italian; I'd recommend Gaelic. And stick to the language-- commit to it. You don't engage in lying or giving out fake phone numbers-- you can avoid violating the 10 commandments and entertain your family and friends in the process (again,  I only use this on unsolicited telemarketers,  but you can do as you like).

I tried one of the effects once and it was meh and switched to something better I had (I think it was a reverb or delay)..
