  1. Here's a useful page comparing the versions of RX10. https://pluginfox.com/pages/compare-rx-versions
  2. @Niky Serrano Your post reminded me of this old song. Hmmm...maybe everybody who mentions what country they're from/live in gets a song dedication today!
  3. Thanks, I should have stated that I never want the vocals too upfront -- because I have a lousy voice. I did remix the track and it's now much better.
  4. I put this together quickly to figure out if I could pull off singing this song half-decent (okay, it's only part of the song I did as a test). It turns out I couldn't! While I always loved this song, I mainly recorded it because my wife is a huge fan. I realize the mix isn't very good and invite your suggestions.
  5. That's good to know! I like it best when we stay friendly and respectful and ideally, keep the good vibes going. That's a huge part of what makes this forum such a nice place.
  6. jngnz didn't catch "someone being two faced before the edit." He was just making a humorous post where he edited a quote of Fleer's for humorous effect. Fleer was definitely not being "two-faced"; Fleer's been very consistent in his posts. He's also one of the friendliest, most amiable people in this forum. jngnz is, IMO, pretty funny and can be downright brutal with opinions. He is the antithesis of a shilling influencer looking for free products and money from developers. And it is his combination of directness, authenticity and humor that I really appreciate. That doesn't mean I always agree. He clearly doesn't think this library is worth downloading due to the large file size -- I get that and I respect his perspective; 10 GB is pretty big for a Rhodes library (did you catch my 8Dio reference earlier?). Personally, I actually don't have the file space to download this library at the moment (I have a new hard drive I plan on installing this weekend or during the week). So both jngnz and Fleer have been sincere, and I sincerely appreciate them both. Anyhow, while I think it's very generous for this developer to have created a website to give away his work at no cost and think he deserves our gratitude, I also get while some people find a 10GB Rhodes library too big. Finally, if you want to go after someone for editing posts, I think I'm the king of editing posts. After someone likes one of my posts, I'll re-read it and inevitably find a grammatical error or think of something I really should have had in the post to make it more helpful to someone reading it later. But it's not for some nefarious reasons.
  7. Thanks for taking the time to post here and answer questions. Most of all thanks for making and sharing your sample library, it sounds excellent. So kudos to you. I think you have a future as a sample developer.
  8. For those who want a smaller library, I would suggest contacting the developer and offering him something to make a smaller size version. If he could set up a way to donate, I think it would be worth a donation. I don't think something like $5 USD or $10 USD for a library like this would be much to pay.
  9. While 10GB is pretty large (8Dio level large), if you appreciate electric piano, and especially the Rhodes, a detailed sample library is going to be pretty large (although, I might expect maybe half this size and suspect it could be better optimized) and, at least IMO, the fact that something of this quality level (based on demos) is free is the trade off. From the demos, this sounds comparable to a paid library that would easily cost $50 USD or more. I think it's at least worth downloading and trying out and if doesn't meet expectations, simply delete it. But the demos would sound really good even if this was a paid library. On the landing page, the developer states that this was made for a college thesis, so I would expect it's better than most freebies. The demos are definitely far better sounding than any free Rhodes library I know of. Anyhoo, I think it's potentially worth the hard drive space.
  10. A new KONTAKT developer is giving away a really nice sounding Rhodes electric piano sample library for free. I haven't downloaded it yet, but the demos sound great. The developer states: For use with:KONTAKT 5.6.8 * (or newer), (NOTE: This is for the Full Version Only) Detailed sampling. 5790 samples in 96KHz/24-bit .wav 42 velocity levels, dynamic release pedal and instrument noise. Instrument:Rhodes MKII, 1980 Recorded Keys:73 Velocities:42 sustain, 37 release Other Samples:Pedal noise, instrument noise Effects:Tremolo, amp simulation, reverb Download size:9.3GB (9.9GB uncompressed) https://eti-roads.com/
  11. I have Session Keys Upright and like it a lot. It's actually two sampled upright pianos and they really did a great job making an easy-to-use interface that lets you go in and adjust the sound at a level far beyond most other piano sample libraries. I love upright pianos and this one is definitely one of my favorite upright piano sample libraries; this and the two uprights I have from Toontrack are my top go-to uprights for rock songs. The below video should give you a good idea. If you like the presets, I think this piano library is well worth having. e-instruments is a very solid developer in my experience.
  12. We all have our own preferences and work styles. I realize some may love the same plugins that I'm not crazy about. If it works for you, that's what matters. I was just sharing how I've simply found that the UJAM approach really isn't the best fit for me. I'm interested in loading up samples, making tweaks to those sounds and playing everything from my keyboard or another MIDI controller as opposed to using pre written MIDI patterns or loops, which is where a lot of UJAM functionality is focused. You mentioned Toontrack, and I do like Toontrack stuff a lot -- especially Superior Drummer, but I also have a couple of the ezKeys 1 upright piano sample libraries and I use them a good deal and really like them. Once again though, I don't use pre-written MIDI or loops; I've never even touched that area in ezKeys 1 and Toontrack has clearly put a lot more focus on that area in version 2. But even for my purposes, I've found ezKeys much more to my liking than anything I own from UJAM (I have several of their plugins). Anyhow, that's just my take. Like anything, it reflects my preferences and may be completely different from someone else's opinion. We all have our own preferences, levels of experience and workflows. I just thought I'd share my honest take on UJAM as others, like you, were weighing in. Others here may love UJAM and it may be a great fit for them. There's no right or wrong opinion or need for concensus, it's just opinion. I value that we all have different perspectives and can respect each other's views.
  13. Same. UJAM plugins are aimed at younger users who aren't looking to get deep into an instrument. While I'm mostly a preset user, UJAM stuff doesn't let me get as deep as I would like. I'm sure that this is likely the same reason that some users will love them. But compared to KONTAKT or even UVI and some of the better developers with proprietary sample players, UJAM plugins feel like entry-level toys compared to serious tools.
  14. I agree, Fleer. SoundIron libraries are consistently high quality and really well scripted. I definitely find them to be much better scripted then 8Dio libraries and overall, produced with much greater attention to quality and detail. I've never bought a SoundIron library that disappointed me. They're definitely an "A list" sample developer IMO.
  15. SampleTank is okay, but KONTAKT is in a completely different league. When I compare the first version of SampleTank I had maybe 20 years ago, and how KONTAKT has progressed during the same period, it's a very dramatic difference. When it comes to detailed samples and samples with various articulations where sophisticated scripting makes a major difference, it's an easy choice -- KONTAKT. Even if you're getting KONTAKT for the factory library and various developer freebies, it's still a much better option, IMO. Unless there's some monumental leap that brings it up to the level of KONTAKT, I think SampleTank 4 is the last version of SampleTank for me. I'd much rather use the hard drive space for KONTAKT libraries. I would only suggest SampleTank to someone who absolutely cannot afford KONTAKT and now, at $50 USD, it's a lot more compelling than at its typical sales price.
  16. Here's a link to the review I mentioned above: https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/tech/plug-mix-vip-bundle-579139
  17. Plug & Mix Summer Sale - up to 85% off on all plugins until September 10 on DontCrack. https://store.dontcrack.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=72 Also on AudioDeluxe: https://www.audiodeluxe.com/brand/plug-mix And on JRR Shop: https://www.jrrshop.com/plug-mix Plugins are going for $5.99 USD while the VIP Bundle is $39 USD (the lowest price among the above three retailers, at JRR). I saw a review for this developer that was decent, not great, and was wondering if anyone here finds any of their plugins worth consideration? I was thinking about the Leslie simulator or maybe a compressor or saturator.
  18. Oops, I saw Larry's similar thread first before Hurricane made the above post and I posted there instead. So let me repost my question here: A decade ago a lot of folks were praising the British and Motown bundles. Is anyone here still using these today and find them worthy of recommendation? I'd love to get the thoughts on them from people who own them, especially now that they're only around 15 bucks each.

I'd love to get the thoughts on them from people who own them, especially now that they're only around 15 bucks each. I'm guessing they're VST2. Thoughts? I still love retro sounds.
  20. I really like Soundiron. Excellent quality sample libraries.
  21. What's your take on the including drums @Fleer? I remember installing something -- I think a trial of this a few years ago and I really liked the synths, but I don't recall downloading the drums.
  22. This is another example of how tangents can make for more valuable threads. Thanks to everyone who posted links to the various banks. I've had the FM8 since it was the FM7 and never tried loading these banks. I'll give them a try this weekend. Seriously, this is truly part of what makes this such a great little community. It's not as big as KVR, but the vibe is mostly friendly and helpful. I'll do my best to try to pay it forward when I find the next opportunity.
  23. Well, I'd absolutely watch the video. But considering that you're just using this for ideas and not final production, then I'd say then I'd be more inclined to think this could be really good for you -- having the strumming patterns and single notes in one library. So considering that, I bet you'd like it. Also, I've heard your music in the past and really liked it. (My late mother was a very talented musician and music teacher and always told me that whenever you hear or play with another musician that you think is talented, don't hold back -- tell them that, it can mean more to them than you realize. I know that was true of me back when I had talent and now when I don't!).
  24. It does. It has single note multisamples. It doesn't have anywhere near the detail of an Orange Tree Samples guitar library, but if you're not looking for that level of realism, it's okay. I find the rhythm pattern player/engine useful for ready to go, no fuss simple strumming patterns. If I'm just starting to work on recording something and say a basic 8th note based strumming pattern will help the song feel more full, it can be really helpful. I can do the same patterns and a lot more with Evolution, but there's a lot less presets and creating a new one takes a little time -- and when I'm feeling inspired, those minutes are significant to me. So when I'm just looking to put in a basic, ready to go pattern, Session Guitarist is as simple as it gets. But because the rhythm pattern player is mainly just a loop player, you really have extremely limited options to make any adjustments to a prerecorded loop strumming pattern. But the realism of the single guitar notes in the Deluxe version doesn't compare to the Evolution libraries. I have owned the Deluxe since it came out and I basically never use the single string multisamples for anything but filling in rhythm parts, not for leads. Also, the Deluxe version gives you additional rhythm patterns, so you may find it's worth it for that alone.
