  1. Grem, you just had to ruin things with a spoiler. That's the first thing someone sees when entering Hell. ...And there's an asterisk that WUP is not part of the sale.
  2. And sadly, Larry will search and search, but there just won't be any promo codes left or anyone left to use them. That said, the upside is that Waves will finally put an end WUP and allow users to install their plugs on up to three computers. The only downside is that no one will be left to take advantage of that deal. Oh well, as they say, always look on the bright side of life.
  3. It's a given, but with no competition left, there will never be another Waves sale. Everything will sell for full price and WUP will be mandatory. Oh, the humanity!!!
  4. Sheesh, I hope this doesn't lead to someday somebody saying, "Do you remember that day when that idiot with a cat name just had to tell a stupid joke that lightheartededly relied on religion and it ended up getting him and Larry banned???" Hopefully the mods have a sense of humor.
  5. I believe it's written somewhere in Revelations that if Waves sales stop, the world will come to an abrupt end.
  6. Waves cash? What can it be used for fellow forum members??? Wrong answers only.
  7. That should violate forum policy. It sounds very cruel.
  8. That kind of thoughtfulness goes far beyond posting. Your considerate attitude and desire to be helpful to others epitomizes why I like this forum so much, @pseudopop. I hope you have a great day.
  9. Sorry. I didn't mean to discourage you. I'm just saying that those libraries aren't particularly high quality for KONTAKT -- even for freebies -- and I wanted to make sure that you and others were aware of some really nice free drum sample libraries that are of significantly higher quality.
  10. These kits were posted here last year, and I recall downloading them and finding that they're really not very good. They're pretty much Soundfont level quality from decades ago. I would suggest instead that if anyone is looking for good free drum kit sample libraries for KONTAKT they download these and try Pianobook where they'll find an incredible amount of really nice sample libraries of all kinds for KONTAKT and the free Decent Sampler: Seinheiser Drum Mic'a https://www.sennheiser-service.com/drummica/ Orange Tree Samples Jazz Funk Kit https://www.orangetreesamples.com/blog/free-jazz-funk-drum-sample-library Ivy Audio Scott Drums https://free-sample-packs.com/ivy-audio-scott-drums-for-kontakt/ Steven Slate Drums Free Not KONTAKT, but it's high quality -- pro level and free and includes a player https://my.stevenslateaudio.com/signup?promo=ssd5-free&utm_source=ssdwebsite&utm_medium=button&utm_campaign=ssdfree_website_signup
  11. When you go to the Waves site and see the "SALE ENDS IN 4 HOURS!" or whatever time it says, is there anyone here naïve enough to believe that Waves sales will actually end? And once you price everything at $29.99 USD or whatever (is it $29.97?) for maybe 48 weeks of the year, the only way to move consumers to purchase is going even lower. In one sense, Waves has impacted the VST effects market -- resulting in lower sale prices for effects from many of their competitors. But remember the days when Waves were costly plugins? There's no doubt that they make excellent quality plugins. Most of us -- me included -- hate WUP, but there's no question about the quality of their effects plugins. It's excellent.
  12. Wait, which code works with everyplugin to get a single plugin for $16.89, @Walter Cruz? I'm absolutely going to use it it if it does. UPDATE: I figured it out. everyplugin.com accepts the personalized discount code from Waves plus the BFD21 discount code. Okay, sale made. Today's VST acquisitions are complete.
  13. I think a lot of this group is of the age that does. And somehow, over the years I seem to recall Larry sharing his age, so I can bet Larry knows the reference.
  14. I'm a genius because I'm aware that I'm not a genius and have learned to rely on various subject matter experts, like Larry? I know you and some others call him King, but how about Dr. Deal? Larry are you good with that? I'm thinking of it with a Dr. Johnny Fever kind of vibe.
  15. I went and bought a plugin before noticing Larry's extra discount code. That means I missed out on the extra savings. Let that be a lesson to all of you kids out there. Don't press that buy button until you hear from Larry, he's the man. If there's a way an already really low sale price can go even lower, Larry knows it.
  16. That is the most ridiculously overhyped promotional copy for a sample library I've seen in at least 12 hours.
  17. Also, someone needs to explain international trademark laws to this developer. In promoting The Beatles' sounding drum kit, he thought he was getting around trademark law by naming the drum kit "The Beatle" -- that violates the famous bands' trademark and it sounds, well, less than good. This time, his copy reads "Abbar." Yes, Abbar just sounds ridiculous, like the drum kit with a bass drum head that reads "The Beatle." It's still violating these artist's trademarks even though they sound like bad jokes. Here's some free branding advice from a professional, instead of violating these parties intellectual property rights with bad sounding ridiculously minor variations of their trademarks, why not do something like :"Take a Chance Drums" or something like what EastWest did with their Beatles' sample library, calling it "Fab Four"? Okay, I loved The Beatles and know lots of stories about the band and know considerably less about Abba -- but far more than I want to know, to be candid. But if you do that and you don't violate these artists' registered trademarks -- specifically meaning their band names, which have enormous worth -- there is a chance if any representative saw what you're doing you'd get a cease and desist notice. I'm not a trademark attorney, but I have enough experience in the area that Interpol quotes me by name in their documentation on trademarks as do several books that cover the topic. Anyhow, good luck with your sample library @facets, and just a suggestion, but I have picked up a number of your libraries from Past to Future and that name you were previously going by, Any Day Long, and they're pretty good -- apart from not being extensively sampled, which is my preference, they have a cool vibe to them. But I'd suggest that you stop the use of shell accounts, which you have used in the past and instead let the community know that you're the developer -- communicate honestly with us. People who buy sample libraries -- which, obviously, includes me -- like developers of decent libraries and are good with them posting here. Consider interacting with people. But never post as if you are a third party who merely loves the sample libraries, that will ruin your business and personal credibility. Had I not tried your free libraries and realized that you were formerly affiliated with Past to Future, I would have written you off after I witnessed you using various fake accounts here to hype your products. Just be real and honest and interact with the community. I think your libraries are good. Yes, I'm obviously not into Abba, but you've produced a lot of libraries I like.
  18. Exactly. I was a working drummer many years and I can't say I've ever heard an Abba song where the drums sounded compelling -- or anything sounded compelling. Okay, I admit it, I loathe that awful, kitsch music.
  19. Then I'll put money on it that they'll have the libraries on sale -- or at least some of them -- for the same price or less than the net price you'd pay with the $40 voucher for overpirced regular prices you can bet no one pays to get synth libraries. It's quite similar to the ridiculous fake high prices of the other KONTAKT synth library developer out of Germany who constantly puts a library on a 90% off sale and now has all his libraries on sale for something like $59 USD. I really loathe those kind of sleazy promo tactics. There are regulations against those kinds of practices in the US and Germany. The reality is, small business people usually aren't aware of such regulations (handled by the FTC in the US) and here in the US, the FTC doesn't have the resources to police it.
  20. Most disappointing clickbait thread title of the month. I was hoping for something useful when I saw the thread title. Sad.
  21. I picked up the Deep Cello and Deep Viola and found both disappointing. Living up to 8Dio's reputation, they're a huge collection of articulations without good scripting. Their playability is really poor. They're like string libraries from twenty years ago. So I picked up Fluffy Audio's Trio Broz, which was on a Black Friday deal for only $29 USD and it has great, intuitive scripting and a nice GUI. While it doesn't have the depth of articulations that 8Dio's libraries have, it makes me wish I could sell my 8Dio Deep Solo and Intimate Strings libraries. This year was absolutely the end of me buying 8Dio string libraries, I heard the same thing from another forum regular here who does YouTube videos (but privately, so I won't quote him). When you buy string or guitar libraries scripting is as important as sample quality, layers, articulations and round robins and 8Dio is unacceptably poor in this area -- its no secret amongst composers of film and game music and sample developers, and I'm now kicking myself for not heeding their advice. To those who haven't experienced a well scripted sample library, the difference is incredible. Anyhow, for what it's worth, I want to share my insights with others so they might avoid going down the same path. There's a good reason 8Dio doesn't let you sell their libraries. Because there would be a lot of us selling them if we could.
  22. Exactly. Loop-based guitar libraries can be very easy to use, but they're also incredibly limited/constrained to the included recorded patterns and don't allow for user customization. Personally, I love having the ability to do exactly what I want with guitar parts, but I sometimes will use NI's strum if it has a pattern I really like because it's so simpleto do, but it doesn't permit you to make any tweaks whatsoever, which makes it a one trick pony (okay, a few dozen tricks) and everyone else that uses that libraryis going to have identical sounding guitar parts. With the next update of Evolution, I doubt I'll even be doing that.
  23. Man, those 8Dio freebies can drive a musician broke. Although $100 to get the latest freebie is on the inexpensive side for 8Dio. Oh well, I guess t's like the old saying, the best things in life are free -- after you spend $100, $249, or $299.
  24. Does anyone who has Izotope's comparable plugin line compare it to Sonible? I'm still trying to figure out the basics of EQing and mixing and can use some insights from more those more knowledgeable at mixing.
