  1. - Learn the tools you have rather than looking for new toys tools to solve a problem - Listen to what other people say - Don't listen to what other people say (eh?) - The perfect is the enemy of the good: just make as much music as you can and you'll get better - Vapor Trails is not an album whose sound you should aspire to
  2. I'd found those (or ones like them) but it's unclear how tall/deep they are, so no idea if they'd be a suitable replacement. eg. the one I found (Amazon UK) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alnicov-Humbucker-Adapter-Mounting-Telecaster/dp/B09GJVJ3FN/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1QW7R744ESC0G&keywords=Humbucker+to+Tele&qid=1684834425&sprefix=humbucker+to+tele%2Caps%2C98&sr=8-5 - has a 2.6mm height which is about half what I have now.
  3. I've always got better results (and the ebow instructions said the same) from a single coil. I can't coil tap (and don't want to as I lose the noise cancelling and don't particularly like single coil sounds, hence wanting a single coil sized humbucker). I really like the look of the Triple Shot Mounting Ring *but* it still doesn't nicely let me fit a single coil sized humbucker - that's the issue I'm having here, that no-one seems to know how to solve (I've been searching online for ages and there just doesn't seem to be a mounting that does what I want).
  4. Patti Smith - Because the Night
  5. Thanks - so Duncan/Lollar make the inserts? That's the bit I'm finding very difficult to source.
  6. I've got a PRS Santana dual humbucker guitar, which I'm very happy with. However, I'd like to change the neck pickup for a single coil style pickup, so that it will work better with my ebow. Ideally, I want it to remain humbucking (for noise purposes but also for sound - I dislike the genuine single coil sound), so it's for pickup *width* that I want the change: ebows work better when the pickups aren't horizontally spaced like on a traditional humbucker. But finding something that will fit into the space and meet my needs is, well, difficult to put it mildly. With apologies for the gig shot, but attached image is what the guitar looks like so you can see the pickup mountings. Any ideas? Forgot to add: wiring isn't a problem, but anything involving routing of wood or the like is a no-no for me ?
  7. This isn't perfect (see later), but it's a way of getting all the track and bus information - minus clips - into a project. 1 - Say you have 2 projects A.cwp and B.cwp and want to merge them into C.cwp 2 - Copy (Windows Explorer) A.cwp as C.cwp 3 - Make sure B.cwp is closed 4 - Copy B.cwp (Windows Explorer) and rename it B.cwx 5 - Open C.cwp 6 - Right click in track view (left pane) and "Insert from track template -> More track template" and browse to B.cwx
  8. Levellers - What A Beautiful Day
  9. I seem to remember that having clips position locked caused some arrangement behaviours to be different from normal.
  10. Thanks @PhonoBrainer Hawkwind tend to reimagine their songs over time, so it's different from the original (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPctyMg-asA&pp=ygUbbmlnaHQgb2YgdGhlIGhhd2tzIGhhd2t3aW5k) but not redone in a completely unexpected way. My monitoring isn't great (practical reasons - like volume) so I can believe it's a tad unbalanced in places, but it does sound clear for me...but I do know the song rather well! Since there were 2 singers and 2 guitarists, it'd be nice to know which (Vocals - verse/chorus; Guitar - which solo) you're referring to ?
  11. Weird - YT said released 2013! I reckon it was a busking song (Dave Brock was a busker pre-HW) and they both took the song in different directions.
  12. Tricky one. 2013>1969 or 2016<1969? You decide.
  13. The forum auto-bleeped my song title! Amazing. Not. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/43188/the-owl-and-the-*****-cat
  14. We "(mis)interpreted" this classic poem many years ago and I've been meaning to put it up online for ages, and finally got round to doing it. It's somewhat rough around the edges but it's meant to be fun and a little silly more than anything else... https://www.bandlab.com/post/f8db7168a32de81180c300155d60d108_8717232bf9ad44a3a8b7a61c5dd3bbf8 It's off a quick'n'dirty 4 track EP called Menagerie (all the tracks are loosely to do with animals): https://www.bandlab.com/xoospacemusic/albums/c107d785-05ee-ed11-9f73-0022484437ba
  15. I do think that something subtle has changed in this. I never (well, once in a blue moon) used to end up with anything other than what I was expecting to get exported (usally "Entire Mix") actually getting exported and didn't need to unselect everything to get it to work. But recently (last few CbB versions - it's hard to tell when as my exporting is sporadic due to other commitments), I often get just a clip or single track exported. Now this may well be down to how I'm working in CbB, and I've changed things without realising in a way that affects selection, but I don't believe I have. Has anyone else experienced a change like this in, say, the last year or so?
  16. Not quite. Select a control and press F2 ("rename" in standard Windows shortcut keys).

    Starfield

Really nice. The first 30 or so seconds reminded me of TD Phaedra, but then it went its own way. I really liked the "slide" at about 1 minute 15, and the light drums kicking in were a very pleasant surprise - I thought it was going to stay resolutely drumless, but they gave it a nice twist.
  18. Inner City Unit - Watching the Grass Grow
  19. Or click somewhere in the track view to ensure nothing is selected. That said, I do feel Entire Mix is badly named and should be renamed something like Mix Selection, and a new Entire Mix option created which does what it says on the tin: exports what you would hear if you hit play right now.
  20. Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love
  21. Thanks Larry - interestingly, another comment I got from a musician friend was that the cymbals were too loud, so I take it I've got it about right ? I can't please everyone! Glad you liked it!
