There will soon be no need for wrapper ASIO drivers or custom drivers that have no special functionality, since Microsoft is adding an inbox ASIO driver. From what I know, as long as you have a class compliant USB 2 audio device it will work with this new Windows ASIO driver.

are you guys collaborating in any way, as an interested partner?

i guess sonar and nest are different dev teams, and next is being built from scratch, whereas sonar has 30 years worth of code already (and tts-1 belongs to roland who decided to end that relationship) 🤷♀️

I got a set of MDR-7506's (I believe that's the model you meant?) from a free box at a yard sale a year and change ago. The earpads were pretty much shot, which is probably why they were in the free box.
Upon first listen, I was very disappointed in these "legendary" cans. Shrill and no bass.
But I went ahead and ordered replacement pads, and whoa, I understood what the fuss was about.
These are the pads I bought:

The gel feels great and the fabric has shown no signs of deterioration, which is the weak point of Sony headphones.
So I'd suggest trying a pair of these pads rather than buying a new set of cans. I think my pads just weren't sealing well enough.
now that's a bargain 😎

UPDATE (SOLUTION FOUND)
Disabling the piano roll GPU acceleration fixed my slowdown issue. It's strange that they defaulted this option on when it's also marked as an "experimental" feature.
Support also recommended staying on Nvidia Driver version 572.16. The latest versions of the driver are buggy with Sonar.
glad you figured it out 👍

i promise never to mention asio4all ever again (maybe admin can add it it to the ***** list) 😘
Cakewalk keeps crashing even with the latest update made today, March 6th.

ok just did a quick test using windbg from the above link (fwiw, there are multiple exceptions just starting up sonar (not quite latest version btw))
so, if you can repro an issue every time, and aren't scared by swathes of programmer gibberish, you can try this to identify the culprit:
you can also use windbg to read any dump file created, and to analyse other apps causing trouble
