A lot of ST4 UI is more difficult to read than it should be due to the (lack of) contrast between the lettering and the background. Many have said this on IK forum and IK response is that it's not a IK problem and that users should adjust the contrast on their monitors to make it better - er, no IK I have functioning eyes and every other plug in I have is perfectly legible on my monitors on the default setting, so........

Nah, the best sound system in the world wouldn't make it not boring. Taking something to make it not boring is the equivalent of beer goggles - she didn't get any better looking, you just think she did.?

ST4 UI is awful IMO. I wouldn't get it if it was 100% off.

I had also never properly heard it, so I loaded it up on my mp3 player to take on holiday with me a couple of years ago thinking that I should probably see what all the fuss was about. I never made it past the track with all the clocks in it.

Something else than is now forbidden it seems.......?

If your ears got very hot in the last few hours and it wasn't because you fell asleep leaning against the radiator, then I may owe you an apology..... Installing this thing completely wiped out my ilok license manager and long story short it took many hours and angry mutterings just to get back to where I was before I started. During this period I may have taken your name in vain on several occasions for encouraging me to break my resolution to stop installing free stuff that I will probably never use anyway. With the benefit of hindsight, I have come to realise that I am a grown up and I make my own decisions and that it probably wasn't entirely your fault. I can only hope that you were somewhere chilly and by warming your ears I actually did you some kind if service.

Or did they ?

They look the same as they always do to me. I guess I must be missing something...

Phew.....'cos I just did a quick search on it and was directed to a website that if I gave it my permission said it would reveal details about the owner of this email address that "we're guaranteed to shock" me. Don't worry, I didn't look..........?
-
If that's real, might be an idea to edit that bit...

Haven't installed it yet, but everything came through instantly for me. Better be worth it now seeing as you made me break my no more trading email address for junk freebies rule.?

TBH I just drag them to an empty space in the Track view and let CW set the track up automagically, so I don't really pay much attention to that process as I figured that CW would set the track up as appropriate for the audio. Next time it happens I'll pay closer attention.

Yes and not just music stores - seems to apply to any bigger ticket items. Amazing how many people only take the short term view. What do they think will happen to Amazon's prices once they have put all the competition out of business and Amazon is the only place you can get anything? That said, I have on more than one occasion been into a physical store with the money in my hand and been told that I should order it from their website, so they really don't help themselves sometimes. For years, every time I go into a bank they say..."you do realise that you can do this online?" To which I always reply...." You do realise that you're talking yourself out of a job?"

But if nobody was there, would it still make a sound? -

Looks like something for people with very small feet..... ...and you know what people say about them.... -
As I said, I don't think it's the audio file itself as deleting and re-importing will often solve the problem, plus the source of the files is often somebody who very much knows what they are doing, so again I would doubt that the file itself is the problem.
-
I've seen it happen with 24 bit wavs and also with mp3 files - delete then and drag them back in again and it's gone, so that's what I do. Not difficult to get around, I just wondered why it happens.
-
If we're talking paintings then in my case when to stop would be before picking up the brush! I wasn't really talking about limitations or warts, but yeah, knowing when to stop is important sometimes. (Said the bloke with a HD full of projects that he's convinced are worth keeping because a few tweaks might make them good - take my advice, I'm not using it, lol!)

I've been meaning to ask this for some time and keep forgetting, so not sure how far back this goes now, currently using 2020.09, but I'm pretty sure it precedes that.... Anyway, has anyone ever had the issue where a wav file brought into a project (drag and drop via media browser) has clipping at certain points, but you just know that the person who sent it to you wouldn't have sent you a clipped track, so delete it and try again.......and the clipping is now gone or sometimes it has moved to some other point. The clipping in question is both audible and visually represented. Any wisdom as to why this happens?

Sometimes songs are best left just the way they came out. This is one of them.
