This was your first mistake.?

I've found that the best way to avoid becoming annoyed with IK is to not buy their products.

"There's too much water"........ "There's not enough water....." It seems to me that Bill is very difficult to please when it comes to water.

Bargain. LOL.

Kids are so over-rated, but very good at manipulation. Many moons ago one somehow managed to make me into the bad guy because I didn't think that it feeding biscuits to my VCR was adorable.

Do you want to be my dad too?

Valentine's day is supposed to be for mystery admirers so if she doesn't like it then it's the other guys fault.?

I hear you there. Anything important to me is obviously backed up, but I don't bother with my www lappy for example because if I did I'd spend my whole life making copies of the HD.

I'm not quite following what you are saying re the mystery vocal on an empty track that is in solo mode, but looking at your picture track 1 is also in solo mode so presumably that is playing back too. Are there any layers in track 1 that are also playing? It certainly seems that you are going the long way about using melodyne though. The quickest way to work is to select the clip you want to work on (some people keep their original recording hidden/muted as a non molested back up and only work on duplicate tracks, but changes can all be removed up until you have bounced to clip) and then Ctrl+M to open the clip in melodyne and make your edits. Ctrl+B when you're happy with the edit and you're done. If at any point during editing you make changes that you regret, you can either use the undo function within melodyne or remove everything and start over by right clicking on the clip > Region FX > Melodyne > Remove region FX. Out of habit from using CW's somewhat flaky V-vocal in the past I tend to not leave open edits when exiting a project, but TBH I don't think it matters too much with melodyne other than your project will load quicker if it doesn't have lots of melodyne instances to insert. HTH.

Assuming that you are addressing me Noel, I cannot give you exact information now as I used system cleanup to delete it all, but when I looked at the location every file was associated with CW which was not surprising to me as it's an offline pc that I basically only use for CW. I figured that it must be dumping a whole copy of the project with audio included for every crash to build up such an amount of error related data. Next time it happens I will give you more info if this is something you want to look into. I only asked you this way because I thought it might be a simple uncheck this box in so and so menu type answer.

This is what bothers me about the idea of SSD's. For all the talk of superior speed, no moving parts=more reliable from what I read (never had one) like USB sticks or memory cards they work perfectly exactly until they don't. No warning, That's it. Gone. In my admittedly very limited experience regular HD's at least give you some kind of clue that they are on the way out. Is that a misconception on my part ?

IIRC this was a big CPU muncher with zero velocity layers when I demo'd it before. Nice UI though.

Ahh, this might explain why this happens to me after a crash (FA-66 interface). Can't even end it in Task Manager. Sometimes opening another audio prog such as Audacity will clear it, but other times I have to log off in windows and then that clears it. On a related note, is there anyway to stop CW dumping GB's of files into system error memory dump every time it crashes ? A while back, investigating why my OS HD kept filling up when nothing new had been changed/added for a long time led me to 35GB worth of CW related files in this location, which I guess came from crashes? Apologies if I haven't used quite the right terminology on the location it is dumped to, but it is something like that. Using disk clean-up I can get rid of it, but it would be nice to not have to keep doing it.

Does this lead to El Snapo?

No chair squeaks then ? I'm much the same re sound design. Usually I CBA to start from scratch when I have such a wide sonic palette to serve as my starting point, so I pick something approximate to what I have in mind and tweak as required. This is the where AAS synths are great because of having the compare button although TBH it usually just proves that I have made it sound worse....

Happens everywhere in my experience........Been with your car insurance provider for 15 years and never made a claim? Here's your renewal quote......20% increase. Never insured through us before - here's 60% off. Irks me every year having to play that game. I binned my satellite tv package a few years ago after many years of subscription as I sat on the sofa opening my mail one day. The letter I was looking at was from them informing me of a 10% price increase. On the TV at literally the same time was their latest advert......Join today on a 12 month contract and you can have it for 60% of the regular price and well give you a 32 inch Samsung TV and a Samsung Galaxy tablet free. That did it for me. I cancelled the next day and within a few weeks I was getting letters offering 68% off of what I had been paying if I resubbed. Too late as far as I was concerned. It must make some kind of business sense or all these companies wouldn't do it, but it seems mad to me. I guess most people must just take it on the chin each time because inaction is easiest and this is what they depend on after they lure you in with the big offer.

SOUNDBRIDGE .. Totally free DAW .. anyone use it?
paulo replied to aidan o driscoll's topic in Deals
Going by the images, the UI looks quite nice if I ignore the control bar being at the bottom, which just doesn't work for me although it is better than in S1. What I don't really see is anything that I can't already do. The nag screen is laughable.....we need money to make it free LOL. -
Heads up for anyone who might not be aware and tempted by this offer to upgrade to V2 versions of v1 things they already own. Ujam v2 installers overwrite your v1 so if you demo before buying you'll be locked out of your existing vst once the demo trial period expires if you decide not to go ahead and buy it. Unnecessary PITA designed purely to try and force purchases IMO.

A consequence of it being free I think. New users have nothing invested in it, so if they haven't got it all figured out it in 5 minutes it's easy to just move on to the next free DAW rather than trying to learn how to work with this one. Long term users have it pretty much figured out at least in the sense of how they like use it so don't really need much help apart from when they encounter bugs or incompatibilities with 3rd party products. Also, I would guess that a large number of the newer users come via the bandlab app where they are used to just gluing loops together for instant results and then find themselves facing a very steep learning curve so either return to the easier option or move onto something more suited to loop orientated stuff. It's great that BL took over the software and are keeping it alive and moving it forward in some fashion but also surprising to me that this far in they haven't made more of it and worked on better integration with controllers like every other big boy DAW seems to have. I guess that's also a consequence of it being free - probably costs too much for a product with zero income. Early BL talk was that the synths, PC modules and such would be reworked/developed and reintroduced as paid add-ons to maybe generate an income stream once they had more users on board but none of that has materialised or is even talked about any more, so I guess that's not happening. Maybe they haven't got the amount of new users they'd hoped for and it isn't worth it?

In CW if I use it and then maybe go to another plug in window or two and then try to go back to scaler the UI often comes up blank and the only way to get it to display properly again is to close the project and re-open it. Sometimes just switching between the various "pages" of the scaler UI will do the same thing. Total PITA.

Hopefully they have fixed the buggy UI.
