I saw him on a Peter Gabriel documentary recently telling the story of when he first worked with him on the album "So". PG was well known for doing take after take of absolutely everything and then obsessively spending hour upon hour poring over them all, which cost him a fortune in studio time and was the main reason he set up his own studio at his home. After recording his take on the first track, PG asked him to do it again. He asked what was the point as he'd already done it and was happy with his interpretation and refused to do it again. If looks could kill............ I don't know much about most of the other previously mentioned drummers TBH, but to throw another name into the mix I've always thought Jonathan Moffett is right up there. Steve Ferrone is no slouch either.

I'm not that bothered as the PC in question here is not my DAW PC which is running an older version and offline anyway. It just seemed to be taking an excessive amount of time to install which is why I brought it up. Anyway, FWIW out of curiosity I just installed the latest update and it seems fine in the sense that I can open a project, play it and look at what's new, if anything, which is the only reason I install new versions on this pc.

Mix recall function is probably what you are looking for, but in my (admittedly very little) experience with it, it's not really any quicker than just opening an alt mix project - hence the very little experience of it.

Quite possibly, but that will be their loss, it's not like I can't still be an unheard of nobody without it.
