I've had a few instances of the UI displaying only a blank window after minimising and then reopening and the crashes are usually either when inserting a new synth into a project where it is open and yesterday it consistently crashed CW when opening the project, so it wasn't doing anything at the time of the crashes.?

You should still give it a go. Maybe you won't have the same problem. Or maybe you will and then at least I will know that it's not just me that it happens to.

The demo period is 30 days, so you should be able to get some time in between the crashes if you're using CW.

Trying the demo at present. I can see that it is a useful tool, but it also still seems to be as buggy as hell, despite how many updates now? Mucho crashes. Cakewalk is not on the list of supported hosts and I guess I'm finding out why. Shame because I'd probably buy it otherwise. Right now I'm not overly confident that the flakiness of it won't drive me mad.

Not sure that I really see why it matters how you get there. I bought MPS 2.1 on the basis of it being an upgrade from "any advanced product" for $125, so not specifically an upgrade to previous MPS, but I still got it for silly money and then to make it even sweeter they gave me the v.3 upgrade free. As always with Izotope it depends when you buy. Buy at release prices and it'll be relatively expensive. Give it 9 months and you'll be more or less stealing it.

One thing for sure is that the next Izotope sale is never far away. Ozone 10 is also likely not far away and I would imagine that the price of MPS4 and any other bundle containing O9 will drop just before that is released. Time it right and you might even score a free upgrade to O10. Keep an eye out for biggish 09 reductions and buy within a month or so of the end of that sale date and you should be good for the upgrade. All that said, if you have none of it MPS4 for $300 is pretty impressive bang for your buck.

I don't have Objeq, but generally AAS stuff is very good, plus they are good people who give excellent service in my experience. IMO Strum GS-2 is the least good. The add on sound packs in particular are probably the worst thing they do. Don't really use Lounge Lizard because it mostly isn't the kind of sound that I'm generally looking for and not because I consider it to be bad at what it's for. If you think of it as being $30 each then I don't think you will be disappointed.

It's the contrast between the controls and the background (or lack of) that is the main problem IMO. ST3 is better in that respect, although still somewhat lacking in the looks department.

I agree with you re the website - virtually unusable for me. It wasn't always as bad, but recently the menu navigation has not worked at all and I keep ending up on something I didn't select. As for tempting deals, I really don't know. I've had a load of of virtual cash for some time now and so far haven't found a tempting way to spend it.
