What I do is run a batch file after my daily backup that includes various commands to back up various CbB components. For example, to back up the control bar settings in Cakewalk by Bandlab, the command is as follows: regedit /e "D:\Data files\Reg Keys\CbB_core_Control_Bar.reg" "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Core\MCBControlBar" Obviously, where the above says "D:\Data files\Reg Keys\CbB_core_Control_Bar.reg", yours will be where you wish to save and your chosen file name for the reg file. The beauty of simple reg files is that in order to restore the settings, you simply double click on the required reg file and it's done.

Unless you are on a 32bit OS only, you really need to upgrade from X3 to Cakewalk by Bandlab, The later is light years ahead - especially in the area of MIDI editing. Also, if you are on a 32bit OS you really should consider upgrading to a 64bt OS.

Working fine here I loaded a patch (A Wide Open Gum) into 4.08 that I know crashes 4.07 with the playback disabled. It played fine. (This is the issue I formally reported to IKM Support) I am doing a project with 4.08. So far, it's looking good - no crashes so far.

There is a folder C:\Program Files\Applied Acoustics Systems\Ultra Analog VA-3\Bitmaps that contains PNG files of the various elements of the Ultra Analog VA-3 GUI. You can edit them with a standard image editor that can edit PNG files with alpha. One thing to make sure when saving the images is that you save with the alpha channel (transparency channel). If you don't do this, you will get white rectangular place holders behind the image elements and it will look horrible. Those who have edited a Cakewalk by Bandlab theme with the theme editor will know what I mean here as you have to do the same with that as well. Of course, it goes with out saying that if you attempt this, do make a back up of the original bitmap folder. Also, if you make your own colour scheme, back that up as well. This is because, if Applied Acoustics Systems ever release an update for Ultra Analog VA-3, this bitmap folder will be over written and will revert to the original. Simply copy the contents of the backup folder to get your colour scheme back (With Ultra Analog VA-3 not running of course)

If these things were common, then this forum would be full of people experiencing them The issues you've listed sounds like things that are outside the control of CbB. For the bakers to "fix" it, they have to be able to reproduce what you're experiencing. Here are a few things to try - although I suspect you may have already tried a few of these. Go to the manufacturer's websites of your Audio interface and download the latest drivers. Uninstall and reinstall. Windows updates may have borked the drivers. Try disabling effects to see if another plugin is the culprit. What version (Numerically and build number) of Cakewalk are you using?

I've never had this happen with Sforzando. Specifically what version of Sforzando are you using? If you're using version 1.9.5.8, are you using the VST2 or VST3 version?

CbB is definitely a 64bit program ( I just confirmed it with CFF Explorer). Therefore, what ever it is on your system that is making the determination that CbB a 32 bit program is telling porkies..... Also, the executable for CbB is in the C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core folder (at least it is on my system)

Like many things, it depends. Are there any tasks that run over night - like backups Are you sure no plugins or software suffer memory leaks (That's where closed processes don't give back ram to the memory pool) If you have an EUFI BIOS and and GPT disk, then the time from power up to desktop logon can be as little as 10 seconds. However, personally, I just log off and down the display monitor. The PC itself stays on 24/7 - I have nightly backups that run at 4:00 am - and various other tasks that run overnight. It's possible the daily physically shutting down and restarting can put extra thermal strain on PC components. Just my 2c

Just confirming that you've checked the Windows system Event viewer and used CrystalDisk to check the smart info I am still thinking hard drive. Rule that out first. Maybe uninstall and reinstall your audio interface drivers - maybe a Windows Update borked it.

What antivirus program do you have? If you have one (which you should if your PC is on the internet), can you try temporarily disabling your antivirus program for for the purpose of testing Cakewalk. Of course, enable your antivirus program after you have completed your test. Note: I have never encountered this issue with Cakewalk by Bandlab (latest build) and Sforzando 1.9.2.7. As a test, I loaded up Cakewalk by Bandlab with Garritan Personal Orchestra Piano in an instance of Sforzando. I played this instrument and I did not experience any issue, such as closing. After this test, I noticed that has been an update for Sforzando bringing it to version 1.9.5.8. It now includes a VST3 version. Maybe you might like to try that. Not really a lot to go on here. Can you provide more information - audio interface, MIDI controller, Windows version, etc First thing you might want to try is go to the website of the manufacturer of your audio interface and MIDI controller and download the latest drivers and reinstall them. You have not stated what you have already tried, so the first thing I would suggest is a shut down (not sleep, actually power down) and restart your PC.

Have you considered ditching all 32bit plugins and just sticking to 64bit plugins from now on?

From some of what you describe, it looks like a hard drive may be on its way out. Can you check the Windows system Event viewer for any disk errors. Or you could use CrystalDisk info to check the smart info....

The thing I like about Screensets is that they can be assigned to key bindings. Lenses cannot. You can also transfer Screensets from one project to another..
