Yeah, different type of environment.
It was quite a shock for me when I started hanging out in places where DJ's had pre-established playlists from which they did not deviate much and were so focused on the BPM of their songs.
Me I had to entertain people from 9-10 pm to 3 am, and I did that 4-5 nights a week, sometimes more. But you never knew what you were in for until the evening hit its stride. An evening might start with Django Reinhardt and end with Front Line Assembly. Really. The clientele was just that diverse, and although people did dance at times, it might to Violent Femme and Bob Marley one night and Ministry the next.
The only thing you could be sure of is that at least one girl would ask for Closer, by Nine Inch Nails. Every night. For years.
Going back 30 years or so I had a friend, Mr Noisy, who was a death metal DJ.
He hated the music but saw a gap in the market.

eminem
I have this strange mental block where I can't pronounce his name properly. The best I can manage is E-mine 'em.
I don't have any problem pronouncing M&Ms. It's just Eminem that throws me.

Ministry - Thieves (lyrics "Inside, outside, which side, you don't know")
It had been a while and I really felt like listening to it. A staple of my DJ days.
Rather different to the music the DJs played in the clubs I went to ... but I tended to be chemically assisted.

With impeccable timing, Richie Sambora of Van Halen fame was tonight revealed as a jacket potato ... or was it the other way round?

I wish I could have done that with my 2005 Odessey (sound a spare in storage that still works).
Last Month I needed new brakes, replacement of a door latch that was faulty and causing random signal that the door was open when it was not, replacement of drivers side seat belt receptacle that was saying seat belt was not connected when it was. And I added a rodent repeller (runs 24/7 but will never drain the battery uless the car sat undrivern for a few months or so). That was one pretty penny.
Today I picked up the car for new tires, virtually overhauled suspension (the car was making metal on metal creaking sounds when driven) rack and pinion was starting to go, leaky oil pan.
I have a philosophy about a fully paid for car. If the repairs in a year exceed what would be equivalent to a new car payment (of a like vehicle) then it's time to dump it and get a new car.
I'm a about a grand away from that limit.
I have 190k miles on the car and it's suggested to replace the timing belt at 200K. At my current rate of 'scheduled' driving I'll hit 200K in 27 months or so.
Needless to say, those two expenses have put a serious dent in any major musical purchases for the next month or two.But how is it with baking potatoes?

I'm stuck at Sound Forge XP 4.0 that came free with a SoundBlaster from some time around or before 1997.
It still gets used occasionally (on Windows 10) for topping and tailing samples (16 bit or lower samples only).
