  1. Sep 23, 2022 Vital v1.5.3 available now at https://vital.audio This Early Access release is available for all users now: Free, Plus, Pro, and subscribers...
  2. The "Electronic" soundbank compendium looks interesting. 10 banks, which appear to mostly be for Pigments. The total full retail for those soundbanks alone would be around $130. Not that anyone actually pays full retail around here! But that sure is a sweetener for the V Collection 9 upgrade!
  3. It look like 1 free base game & 1 free ARK Modkit editor, plus 6 free add-ons. 8 total freebies!
  4. There is a free version of Youlean Loudness Meter 2 available at PluginBoutique. https://www.pluginboutique.com/products/4960-Youlean-Loudness-Meter
  5. My intent with referring to "generation" as it relates to software was to imply a leap forward in computational intensity, such as with FX that are more AI oriented, or virtual instruments that run models that were not feasible before on slower hardware. Not just new and improved versions of the same old existing technology, I'm referring to "game changing" technical leaps. Similar case with hardware, as the CPU clock GHz race, multiple cores, faster memory throughput, and SSD drives have all enabled many new capabilities that software engineers are eager to implement with. For example, when I went from a PC with a 3rd gen Intel Core at 3.4GHz to my latest PC with a 9th gen Intel Core running at 3.7-4.6GHz, virtual instruments that I once considered "CPU hogs" run without breaking a sweat! Game changer for me! I used to use u-he Diva and iZotope Iris 2 to stress test my old system, LOL! Definitely needed lots of "resource management". And I do agree about Acustica. I removed all of their stuff. iZotope Ozone or Neutron is probably okay for a non-engineer musician to get to a quick starting point for further tweaking. Obviously someone that can do all that by hand doesn't need an AI to lead the way, and less intensive stuff will do a fine job. But for better or worse, I think the bottom line is that software companies are not catering to customers with older systems when they are trying to market the latest and greatest "new thing". That's why minimum hardware and OS requirements keep trending upwards...
  6. $149 for me now. Hopefully $99 on black Friday!
  7. I just ran into that issue the other day when I was trying to drag and drop a wavetable file into SynthMaster's oscillator window. That works in other DAWs, so it would be nice if PreSonus would fix that.
  8. I have a few licensed Kontakt Player Libraries that qualified me for crossgrade offers over the years before I finally bought in to Kontakt: Sennheiser DrumMic'a (free Player version no longer available), Soniccouture Estey Reed Organ, and Amadeus Symphonic Orchestra. NI just seemed to randomly select one of those libraries and say that it "qualified" me. And I got the first two for free. I'm sure there are others as well. The main thing is that they were 3rd party Player libraries that had to be activated via serial number in the Native Access program. This article features free Kontakt libraries for Kontakt Player by Native Instruments: https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2020/04/27/free-kontakt-libraries/
  9. This Epic deal appears to be Windows only. Sorry Fleer, back to Steam I presume...
  10. I started with outboard synths, but am now all in the box. I think that is the trend these days.
  11. I cannot imagine what v6 might have to justify an upgrade. Will wait and see, I guess...
  12. My philosophy is that the generation of hardware and software should match up, within reason. Expecting the latest software to perform on hardware that is a few generations behind is unrealistic IMO. It's fine if you want to keep running hardware for years, as I do. I hate to put systems that still run well out to pasture, but it is what it is... Using software designed for that specific hardware generation is a much better experience! Future proofing your computer from years ago only carries so far into the future! It's like an arms race, as I'm sure that developers are using the latest hardware available to do things that were never before possible on older hardware, and are trying to be first to market. It may not seem fair, but their primary business objectives are likely not to be backwards compatible with older hardware when they are pushing the bleeding edge of new capability (read as CPU hogs).
  13. Well it wouldn't be a Thursday without another Epic Free game! This title has been released before for free, most recently I believe on Steam. Epic also offers a number of add-ons for free, so don't overlook them. https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/ark https://ark.fandom.com/wiki/ARK_Survival_Evolved_Wiki
  14. I'm sure that the Cakewalk devs are doing the best they can with the resources that they have. The number of additions and fixes they have produced in the last 4+ years is nothing short of amazing. I would never even think of using Sonar Producer again, and I was a paying Sonar Platinum Lifetime user. It's been a long road for them I'm sure, but the program is much better now than it ever was! If you have suggestions for Cakewalk improvements, suggest that you drop them in the Feedback Loop forum where they are more likely to be seen by development staff: https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/forum/8-feedback-loop/ "Provide feedback on features, ideas and requests for future releases of Cakewalk by BandLab."
  15. I don't know the answer to that question on a purchase/upgrade grace period, but I will add that I seriously doubt that Kontakt 7 will go on sale THIS black Friday. Maybe next year... I bought into Kontakt 6 during a 50% off sale, and used a crossgrade from a licensed 3rd party Kontakt Player library to nab it for $124.
  16. I'm in the same boat, but I think the HiDPI browser is just that. The browser. I will assume that the rest of the song remains the same, until someone shows me otherwise!
  17. You must have posted that before I acquired BBCSO. Will check it out! I have the templates for Studio One that Spitfire posted on their site.
  18. Another LUFS meter, the IK T-RackS 5Metering. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/tr5metering/
  19. iZotope Insight seems to be a good metering solution. Not cheap though... https://www.izotope.com/en/products/insight/features.html
  20. Now all you need to do is find someone that has this particular plugin working in CbB. Then that will be all the proof you need to go back and go over your system with a fine tooth comb! Good luck!
  21. That's the question you should have been asking from the beginning. ? I don't know, because I don't have that plugin. My 37+ Waves plugins all work fine here in the latest Cakewalk version, but I believe I had to clean install my Waves setup a few years ago when it got glitchy. I don't recall the details, but I am of the opinion that Waves way over complicates things that should be simpler. If you go back and read what Waves support sent you, they included this statement: "Make sure to load WLM (and any other Waves plugin) as VST3, which is the only format tested and qualified with our plugins in Cakewalk."
  22. That really doesn't make them all the same. Just one little bit affecting that plugin in your environment could be corrupted, making it YOUR problem only, and if so you are the only person that can fix it. These suggestions, or hoops as you call them, are the only way to logically rule things out at your end. If you want Waves support (or anyone for that matter) to work with you, you WILL need to do as they ask! We are just users like you, and have been in your shoes before...
  23. Correct, but Unify is still not multi-out (yet). You can layer as many instruments inside Unify as you wish, but they all get mixed to one stereo audio output. As far as the Spitfire Player goes, set up as many instrument tracks as you need (with one VST instrument instance on each), and then save it as a CbB template so you only have to do that once. Each instrument track will have one stereo audio output appearing in the console, available for flexible mixing setups.
