  1. "Plug-in Collective members can download MASSIVE from Native Instruments and Ozone Elements from Izotope free from their Focusrite account from 6th October to 12th January (4 pm GMT). Access the three-month free trial of KOMPLETE NOW to add a wide range of synths, sounds, and effects to your tracks." The Collective plugins are perpetual licenses. If you get them prior to January 12th, then you get to keep them. KOMPLETE NOW is limited to 3 months.
  2. I picked up Fallout 4 (2015) nearly 5 years ago in 2018 from Humble Bundle, but it turned out to be a Steam key. Tons of fun for $14.99 & reasonable system requirements for the day. Not too excited about Steam though... Never played Fallout 3 (2008), but would definitely recommend 4. Unfortunately, GOG only seems to carry Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout 3. BTW, Fallout 3 is on sale at Steam for $2.49, Fallout 4 is $4.99, Fallout: New Vegas is $2.49, all until October 18th.
  3. Have you tried the strumming engine in the Indiginus guitars by Tracy Collins? https://www.indiginus.com/renegade-acoustic-guitar He has scripted a brilliant Kontakt UI for guitar. But since I am not a guitar player, I can't really say if it would solve your question, although it might be worth a look. This is a 9 min walkthrough of his Renegade Acoustic for Kontakt (full). The strumming engine overview begins at 4:55.
  4. The Focusrite Scarlett and other interface models come with these plugins, in the Hitmaker Expansion. https://focusrite.com/en/hitmaker-expansion No Studio One though...bring your own DAW. "Hitmaker Expansion – available with every Scarlett 3rd Gen, Clarett+, Clarett USB and Red interface purchased and registered on or after October 1st 2021 – is built to get you creating records immediately. These are all the plug-ins you need to write, produce, mix and master your music in studio quality."
  5. The Nomad BT plugins from Sonar still work fine here in Cakewalk.
  6. Don't miss out on the freebie: "Uniscream 2021". Right on time for Halloween 2022. https://www.pluginguru.com/products/pluginguru-uniscream-2021/
  7. The MIDI file spec is still very important! But DAW hosts such as Cakewalk, or hardware such as Yamaha, can do things internally that are not part of the MIDI specification. When you export your data to a MIDI file, you are limited to only the data elements covered in the MIDI spec. Anything extra that was generated in your host is discarded when you save to MIDI.
  8. Dang, now I need that Mandolin... ?
  9. I'll probably never do any real banjo music, but this thing looks like so much fun I may have to own it just to jam with! ?
  10. I picked up The Resonator shortly after I acquired the full version of Kontakt.

  12. If you have the Computer Music "new" Plugin Suite you already have this one. Thanks for buying issue 306 of Computer Music! This month we have a special giveaway from W.A. Production called Multibender CM. To download this plugin for free, please do the following… The full instructions are from p80 of issue 306 of Computer Music.
  13. Massive X is not an evolution from Massive into a Massive 2, as it probably should have been. Rather, it is a whole new beast, and it's one of my least favorite new synths. And it is a bit harder on resources. I cannot fathom why NI thought Massive X was a good idea? And it was released years before it was finished. They finally added some features this year, including an updated browser, that should have been in the initial release. And there is still no parameter automation beyond the macro controls. No user wavetable import. And no user ability to create and organize preset folders. Even 3rd party preset packs get dumped in the "User" folder without even using sub-folders. WTH? The Massive X fans just point at how great it sounds. Yes, that's quite important, but so is usability! I do like the large UI, but wish NI had spent the effort instead on upgrading the original Massive!
  14. The cool thing about Indiginus, the "full" prices usually run about $59, so still quite affordable. I just checked and already had the Renaxxance Nylon String Guitar in my shopping list. https://www.indiginus.com/renaxxance-nylon-string-guitar That banjo sounds excellent though, and since there's no way I could ever play one correctly it looks like Tracy has made the banjo as effortless as the fiddle!
  15. Already have the Resonator, Fiddle, and Steel. Might as well add the Banjo!
  16. Tracy Collins from Indiginus is one of the best stringed instrument samplists that I know of, and an all around nice guy. I would put him up there with Greg Schlaepfer of Orange Tree Samples. Indiginus libraries are much more affordable however, because Tracy doesn't have to pay Native Instruments for Kontakt Player compatibility. Full Kontakt required. Here is a livestream interview that Simeon Amburgey did with Tracy Collins last year. They covered his latest plus a lot of details about his background and company:
  17. FF to 11:24 for the cassette test! ?
  18. Do folks really use everything in the KCE? If so, what's the main attraction over and above the Standard edition?
