  1. I watched the video on that one, and I'm not convinced yet. Also, it's the oldest of the 3 Waves synths. Already have several synths that do wavetables, so I'm waiting for the full wavetable editor to be included in the upcoming SynthMaster 3.0 later this year.
  2. Unless you really need a small form factor for portability, I would recommend to get at least full size keys, and at least 49 of them (4 octaves) for synth use. The really tiny mini keys are difficult to play if you actually want to play the thing. The 88-key weighted controllers should be a serious consideration for playing piano, but probably not so much for synth. The full size keys 49 and 61 key units from Akai, M-Audio, Alesis, Nektar, or Novation are usually sufficient for home studio use. Features will vary, but velocity sensitivity, aftertouch, and a mod wheel should be must haves on the feature list. The main thing is that without knowing the budget or intended use, it's a shot in the dark.
  3. Waves Element 2.0 Virtual Analog + Waves Flow Motion FM Synth looks like a nice synth combo for $25.88
  4. It's just a "Start". If you are already "Komplete", I doubt the need.
  5. Maybe try this: https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
  6. Love those synths, Collective and Biotek! One thing I recently learned in Waveform was how to insert the LFO Modifier on the instrument plugin. You can easily get some additional modulation going with any automation parameter in the synth this way. Lots of fun, and not limited to the included synths, works with 3rd party synths inserted into Waveform as well. Here's a video clip showing an older version of the LFO Modifier. The modifiers were upgraded in W9, so they can do much more now!
  7. First, make sure that you have clicked the keyboard icon button on the lower far right of the plugin window to display the ST4 "In-App Keyboard" in the lower bar. The 3 display modes for the lower bar are "Macro" knobs, "In-App Keyboard", and "Virtual Pads" (User Manual, p.22). Then any available keyswitches will be highlighted at the left side of the keyboard, beginning at around the "C0" key. Not many instruments in the new ST4 content have keyswitch presets. Most that do have "KS" in front of their names. I don't see any KS for the new brass, woodwinds, or strings. The guitars all appear to have KS versions. However the included ST3 library has keyswitches for all of the major instruments in the brass, woodwinds, and strings categories, and they indicate that their source was the Miroslav Philharmonik. The selected keyswitch name will also appear directly under the instrument name on the "Parts View".
  8. I've seen other plugins do that, but I don't have those specific ones. Maybe try comparing VST2 vs VST3 if both versions of those plugins are supported. Does the plugin developer have any ideas?

  10. Rapture classic was bundled with Sonar X2, X3, and Platinum. If your source was only with the Platinum bundle, you would probably need Command Center. Rapture session was bundled with Platinum, so that and Rapture Pro would need Command Center. But if you had Sonar X2 or X3, the Rapture classic installer would still be in your download files at your Cakewalk.com account. That and your serial and registration code would still be available if you could sign in here: https://www.cakewalk.com/My-Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2fMy-Account I have X2, X3, and Platinum, plus a purchased standalone version of Rapture classic from the long ago days, so I see both options.

  12. I have had issues with some of the big guitars while using the ST4 plugin in Cakewalk. They have a lot of sample content. The "Parlor L Pick Full Keyswitch" crashes Cakewalk with an unhandled exception upon loading. On the other hand, the "Parlor L Fingered Full Keyswitch" loads and plays fine, but after a while it will crash. The "Black LP Full Keyswitch" will load and play. And the "Red Strat Full Keyswitch" in MAX goes boom here too, but sometimes not until I try to load a different instrument into the same slot in ST4. Still trying to sort things out here with Cakewalk and ST4. Considered that maybe I need more RAM, as I currently only have 8GB. But if you are having issues with 16GB, that implies that Cakewalk may be struggling with memory demands from the plugin, rather than physical memory limits. I don't have any issues with running ST4 standalone.
  13. Audio Engine on/off button is show here in the Transport Module, figure 216-L. http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=ControlBar.06.html
  14. I can reproduce that audio dropout every time with the C7 Grand. If I restart the audio engine, I can play the instrument. My system specs: Window 10 with the latest Cakewalk on SSD, Intel Core i3-3.4GHz, 8GB RAM, SampleTank Max 4 on 7200 rpm internal SATA HDD. Have you opened a support ticket with IK support yet?
  15. Totally hooked on "Orville" now. Love how Seth has riffed on all the earlier space operas with his take on a space dramedy!
  16. That's a good set of presets for $5. Plus then you will have an upgrade path to the full version of SynthMaster for $59. http://www.synthmaster.com/synthmaster.aspx
  17. Dang I hate I missed that deal! I want to upgrade my samples content drive from a 1TB spinner to an SSD.

    SampleTank 4 is Out

Yup, now I'm looking for a REALLY good deal on a new 1TB SSD for all of my samples.
  19. Craig, no offense to your idea, I was typing before you submitted your reply. It's a brilliant suggestion! But it would still be nice to have a real "scratchpad" so that the "just another workaround" gang would shut up.
