  1. I have no idea why this song just popped into my head?
  2. Off-topic, but just a quick +1 for the free Ample P Bass lite. It sounds a lot like my actual Fender P-Bass! Although I never could afford a decent 5-string, I bought the Ample Metal Ray5, a sampled Stingray 5 string. It only had picked samples when first released, but Ample recently provided a fingered sample set to users for free! Good company! Nice basses!
  3. Dead simple to use, right? Even though I have AD2 and EZDrummer, I think I will keep MT around for quick mixes.
  4. I got emails from AAS for Objeq Delay and all of the Session instruments. The notes below apply to all, with the addition that Strum Session also now supports 192KHz. Fixes * Peaking LED did not work in the level meter. * When a project was loaded in a DAW, the Save and Compare buttons would be enabled even if the preset had not been edited. Notes * This installer can simply be run over your current installation to perform the update. * This installer is a full installer so you can use it as a starting point if you need to reinstall from scratch in the future.
  5. The full version of one piano is now bundled for free with Focusrite hardware, as part of the software bundle. Got the Addictive Keys grand with my Scarlett.
  6. The free LAME MP3 encoder is supported by Cakewalk. The MP3 patent expired years ago, so nobody has to buy an encoder any more. You can also easily export to MP3 in the free Audacity wave editor. Just import your final stereo wave mix into Audacity and convert there, as it also supports LAME.
  7. Do you work for free, John? Small developers should be able to put food on their table. Supporting them is just good karma, IMHO. In all fairness their page says "Download free", which implies there might be a catch... and a nag is really no big deal, if you want to use it and you're broke. But with big companies, I agree. When they say free, it should really be free. Usually as a loss leader, they know what they are doing when they release something for free, hoping that you will eventually buy one of their other products. But as for the topic of this thread, MT does have multiple audio outputs. Something that the basic free drums included with CbB do not have.
  8. That's a method that has been used for years by software developers to encourage donations. I prefer a nag at startup to ads any day. If you like the software, why not pay up?
  9. I would recommend the free MT Power Drum Kit 2 for individual audio outputs. It works in Cakewalk, and is a big step up from SI Drums. Of course XLN Audio Addictive Drums is more flexible and feature packed, but unfortunately is not free. https://www.powerdrumkit.com/
  10. I have an original Roland JV-1080 rack unit with a decent GM playback mode, plus much more! Many of the most well-known Factory presets and Xpansion board sounds of the JV-series were created by Eric Persing of Spectrasonics. https://www.roland.com/us/products/jv-1080/ Maybe you can locate a used one somewhere. But the Roland subscription is probably cheaper. https://reverb.com/p/roland-jv-1080
  11. While I have SynthMaster 2.9.9 and agree with everything you said, I would go one level lower, for ease of use. Provided you can get by with one layer, SynthMaster One is the bang for the buck. Regular prices here, but crossgrade from v2.9 for $29. https://www.synthmaster.com/synthmasterone.aspx It's perfect for those just starting out with synthesizers, and more straightforward to program. Did I mention ease of use? Plus you will be able to load your SM One presets as a layer in the upcoming SynthMaster 3. ? Simple architecture with 2 oscillators (VA, wavetable, and single-cycle waveform samples) and 2 sub-oscillators (VA, noise, and single-cycle waveform samples) mixed and routed to two filters in split, parallel, or series modes. ADSR envelope configs vary with filter mode. Import your own wavetables and single-cycle waveforms to a library folder, or by drag and drop. Oscillator drift. Modern zero delay feedback filters: Ladder Filter- Modeled on the famous Moog ladder filter, with a choice of two slopes (12dB/octave and 24dB/octave)and four filter types (Lowpass, Highpass, Bandpass and Bandstop). Diode Ladder Filter - Modeled on the well-known analogue filter circuit of the Roland TB-303. Includes only one filter type. Lowpass with 24dB/octave slope. State Variable Filter - Modeled on the analogue state variable filter found in the Oberheim SEM. This one's available in four types: 12dB/octave Lowpass, 12dB/octave Highpass, Bandpass and Bandstop. Bite Filter - Modeled on the 12dB/octave Lowpass and 6dB/octave Highpass filters of the legendary Korg MS20 synth. Over 1200 factory presets. Mostly usable, and some very inspiring! Great preset browser with search and filtering by type, attribute, style, and author tags. Modulation sources via drag and drop, right-click, or mod matrix. MIDI learn any continuous parameter to MIDI controller. Arpeggiator/Sequencer - 16 steps for rhythmic arpeggios or polyphonic sequences. Allows drag and drop of a quantized MIDI file into the display. But bottom line, lots of fun! Sure there are some great freebies out there, and I have most of them, but this is more advanced than most of them.
  12. If you are looking for another bass virtual instrument, Ample Sounds has a great sounding fingered Fender P-Bass for free. https://www.amplesound.net/en/pro-pd.asp?id=19
  13. In response to my earlier email to Sonivox about the registration issue, the Software Support Team at inMusic Brands emailed me early this morning. They asked that I try it again, and it is indeed working today! I guess that they should consider adding this one to iLok registration, just like the rest of their software.
  14. Yep. Downloaded all the demos, with the intent to get one. Beat my new year's resolution deadline by a couple days as not to buy any synths in 2021. The winner was Repro! ?
  15. Melodyne Essentials installs and upgrades have always been handled directly with Celemony and your user account over there. As far as I know, CbB not involved, other than providing ARA2 support. I recently upgraded to Melodyne Essentials 5 (have never had a higher level installed), and running the latest version of CbB.
  16. Yes it is! Confirmed Audio to MIDI conversion feature in Cakewalk. Melodyne never appeared, but Cakewalk asked me which algorithm to use. * I only have Melodyne Essentials installed. The pic at the bottom: Track 1 - Audio loop of acoustic guitar (from Sonar loops library) Track 2 - MIDI conversion of audio loop dragged to MIDI track Track 3 - Instrument track receiving MIDI data from track 2 (Ample Guitar M II Lite) Track 4 - Audio recording of instrument playing MIDI data on track 2 The playback is in tune and on time when both audio tracks are played back together, and the sound is very close.
  17. Sonar pre X-series (8.5 and earlier) - the installers were shipped on disk, no downloads as far as I know. Sonar X1, X2, and X3 - No disk installers, only downloaded from your old account as far as I know. Some changes to add-ons between X2 and X3: Roland VVocal was dropped between X2 and X3 due to the Roland/Gibson transition. Nomad Factory Blue Tubes were added, and a number of legacy Cakewalk FX were dropped. R-Mix was dropped. AAS Session instruments were new for X3. Sonar Platinum - installer downloads from either your old account, or via Cakewalk Command Center. The Cakewalk "Connected" era began. Note: this info should be accurate as far as Producer/Platinum editions. Don't have the details for Artist or Professional, or others...
  18. You realize that Yamaha has owned Steinberg since 2005, right?
  19. The first thing I would do is try another plug-in. Then try another project, as suggested. I have MODO Bass, and it seems to work fine, but I have yet to use it extensively. If that fails, then I would test the tracks in another DAW. Keep narrowing it down in a process of elimination to see what the cause of the trouble is.
  20. I think PA may have reached my "unsubscribe" threshold. ?
  21. Not sure, but this is still the current deal from Plug-in Collective. Each deal runs for a couple of months, and has not been repeated this past year according to this page. Scroll down the page for a list of previous Jan-Nov 2020 deals. https://focusrite.com/en/plugin-collective
  22. I just sent an email to softwaresales@sonivoxmi.com asking about the registration issue. I would suggest that anyone else having issues to do the same!
  23. I just checked wayoutware.com with a couple of websites, downdetector.com and isitdownrightnow.com and they confirmed that domain is down for everyone, not just me.
  24. You are correct. I've owned a license for TimewARP2600 for several years, and it's been one of those annoying activations that resets every time Windows installs a new feature update. But never been a problem until now... I just launched it, and it requested a registration code, again. FYI, SONiVOX bought Wayoutware some time ago. But unfortunately, it seems that the registration server is down now. Way to go SONiVOX! Are you seriously still selling this? Not to mention, the existing owners should be up in arms now! No way to register an existing license? Major fail!
  25. It's Larry's fault. The thread title took over my brain, LOL! But bottom line, it's actually a very cool plug-in! I was asking myself do I really need another distortion effect? But what a surprise!
