  1. Nice, and thx for all the details.
  2. Nice blend of guitar tones, makes my ears happy.
  3. Just got the AD2 free version, will check out MODO, thx Brian. A quick try of MODO - it sounds great
  4. Thx Mark. That kit does sound quite good and there are useful patterns and the price is right
  5. Thanks Glenn for the free alternatives - will check them out.
  6. I am not too worried about finding drum patterns. Though my "group" consists of me (guitar/bass guitar/engineer), my brother (guitar and vocals), my son (keyboards and vocals) and daughter vocals - yeah no drummer. That said, adequate (at least for me) drum patterns aren't too hard to find. Even SI-Drums has some patterns I can use. I appreciate that a real drummer may not agree, but I am just trying to have fun here. We do mostly covers - so the pattern is often available in transcription form, karaoke sites, or I can just listen to the original recording. I don't mind plunking in the pattern using the Cakewalk piano roll. For the occasional original tune, I try to copy drums from a similar song. So I am leaning towards AD2 mainly because I have heard some drums in the Songs section that I really liked. When I asked, I was told it was AD2. Yes I understand John Marr's bit-width comment, but what I heard sounded really good. Also Creative Sauce has a nice tutorial about setting up drum maps for AD2 on Cakewalk.
  7. So it looks like SD is another alternative to consider. Thx to John M and Glenn for the further details.
  8. Thanks much to Helios, Canopus, Glenn and John Vere for taking the time to help me. I have been using SI Drums, Roland Sound Canvas and TTS-1. Will post at a later time what I have decided to do and how it works out. That may also help someone with a similar question.
  9. I am budget limited and would have to pick one or the other. It would be mainly for basic rock, classic or light rock. Opinions appreciated.

    STARSTRUCK

Amazing. The solo and ensemble string sounds are so good. Thx for posting this.

    Stutter

Sounds great. Really like the drums especially towards the later part of the track. What did you use?

    Billy Ran Off

Not bad but why is it mono?
  13. bmarlowe

    Whatever

    Just great in all respects.
  14. Reminds me of some tracks on Acoustic Alchemy's Reference Point.
  15. You wove a really nice acoustical tapestry. Sounds great.
  16. Great sound, nice sax (and vocal).
  17. Listening on better headphones now - Yes now I hear it too ! My bad.
  18. Hey can you tell me what you used for the cello and strings? I recently used a cello in a mix, it was OK but yours is way better. Thx.
  19. Thx Nigel. Really like your band's sophisticated high quality production.
  20. Yes top quality production and mix, great performances (vocal and instrumental), catchy melodic elements. Along with Midnight Oil, reminds me a bit of Duran Duran. I hope that is a compliment.
  21. Nice arrangement for the 2 finger picked guitars (I think). Strings also really well done - the cello is perfect. Good melody also. Has an Irish/Celtic feel. I would add a bass guitar, but that is just me.

    Fragile

Really good arrangement and mix, but you didn't use your EB0 bass ?. Really though the SI bass sounds great. The beginning hooks you in, the solo keyboard synth sound, then the bass comes in, then the drums - really good I think.
  23. Thanks treesha. Gibson EB0 - very nice.
