It's a pity that I always have trouble with offline authorization for T-RackS! Some plugins run fine, other not and it's always different!
-
That's a lot of academic theory! Yes, you can re-sell the software, but in many cases the buyer will not be able to activate it!

I am even not PRistine! But after all IMO iLok dongle auth is definitely less prone to failure or trouble than CR! Sure, my preference authorization is real offline (none, file based or offline key) over iLok! So this is my authorization order: none Real offline based (file or key) iLok dongle CR with offline variant CR Account login Permanent online I stopped purchasing products using 5-7 and even type 4 I use only with verdors that I know! It is a real nightmare setting up a new system having many 4-7 types.

That's mildly said! But yes, I totally agree! -

I tempted my fate just to regret now the purchase! Waisted hours! First so much trouble with the Product Portal and then the offline activation for my 2nd computer failed also! I don't know what I have done wrong (it's really not the 1st offline activation that I did with them)! I had to activate it onto my iLok, now at least it runs! -
Audio Assault An updated version of Amp Locker is available for download
CSistine replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
I really don't like those monster products (including a lot of gear), because I don't like the hassle of permanent updates caused by adding new gear. Also, the quality of their software has dropped a lot. Very often they have to deliver a fix short after a release. The "old" products were right from the start most of the time! But YMMV! -

I wonder if it's possible to sell the none-iZotope stuff that you get? Because if you purchase the update, you have a lot of doubles! Does anyone know? -

This was the advantage of the "pre-Amp Locker" products, there weren't permanent updates, you could focus on making music! I don't like the "new" Audio Assault, I prefer the legacy! -
The sad thing is that the same folk (engineers), that create nowadays a lot of such security stuff and force you to do endless security updates, are the ones that created a lot of unnecessary backdoors in the internet with "cool" features and language extentions! Now it's the same thing with extended, unnecessary usage of internet access in music software and plugins (authorization, documentation, automatic update checking, home page access ...). IMHO it should be forbidden, that plugins use internet access! This causes a lot of holes in the security of our systems for almost no benefit! The more plugin developers use it, the more bad code will be available for hackers!

Yes, if you want to use the Product Portal. But I hate it ? (takes much longer, takes the computer hostage, does not support to define a download folder, does not show the update number and changelog ...). These are the reasons why I prefer to download straight from the iZotope homepage! Oh, I forgot there is another important reason: I don't want to install everything on my weak laptop just for download purpose!
-
Oh, how I am happy that I still use Kontakt 6! I skip the risque!
-
As always the downloads for the single installers are not current! ? I need those ones, because I also want to update my offline systems! There the Product Portal is of no use!

It's the same with AudioSnap, it uses stretching/shrinking, too. Thus, the result fairly depends on the algorithm (stretch method) that you have chosen for the track´s Offline Render! I prefer the different Radius algorithms (depending on the source), they are superb (only available in Sonar/CbB)! Though I use AudioSnap a lot, in some cases I use the same method as you do. Especially if there would be too much stretching/shrinking involved. Sometimes if I have to shorten a long note a lot, then I don't use xfades, but I cut out the note in the middle and align the waveform with the biggest zoom, so that the waveform continues in a harmonic way. Works great!

Except for instruments like piano, for most instruments the transients are very difficult to find. Very often there are several places where a note/hit could have its transient and depending which one you choose it sounds completely different. With guitars, winds and vocals it's especially challenging! Guitar transients can be at the pick/finger click, but also at the real tone start or somewhere in between. And this varies often in the same playing whether rhythm or lead, but it is usually a recognizable pattern. That's why DAWs and other programs (like Melodyne) very often fail to find the transient "felt" by the musician! This can be proved, if you take the same audio clip and let several programs find the transients. You will be surprised how different the results will be! That's the reason why I check through all the transients manually and most of them won't be placed at the DAWs propositions! Then there is also the swing feel of the musician that plays in. Usually I try to find out what was the intention, before I quantize the transients to this feel, i.e not to the exact grid (in Reaper this is easier, because you can define a swing into the grid, but in Sonar I do this manually). By the way, because of the poor automatic transient detection I don't think it will be realistic with a lot of A.I. ideas in the near future! ?

Great value! I am jealous to the ones that can get this deal, because I paid much more for those plugins (although I got them as deals one by one)! https://www.pluginboutique.com/products/12258-Softube-Mixing-Effects-Bundle-Exclusive-?nosto=frontpage-nosto-1

PA may have some good EQ plugins, but they are not worth the current prices with VAT! Especially if you compare to Toneboosters .TB_Equalizer (always 29 EUR inc VAT) or TokyoDawnLabs.TDR Nova GE.

Me too, I like the take lane concept of Sonar/CbB! But some days ago I found another bug: If you enable several takes at the same time position (e.g. to create a double), then the merged audio is displayed in the track as it should. But as soon as you close the lanes it only shows the output of one single lane! Though I identified this bug recently, I found out that it was already present in Sonar Platinum! In the last years the Bakers have surely sorted out a couple of bugs in take lanes, regrettably some are still left.

It's one of the best transient shapers, isn't it? This is a plugin I would even pay much more for, if I didn't have it already! Great deal!
-
Hopefully you are not too optimistic! ?
-
Just another vender that downgrades authorization and makes customers more dependent! Sad, sad, sad, ... said! ? Well, I'm lucky that I have almost nothing from Steinberg, except the heritage of their goofy VST3 definition!

I can accept that they want to protect their products, but still they could provide an offline installation + activation (as many do)! But lately I've spent most of my money with plugin providers that support user-friendly activation (none/offline key/offline file). And I will be going on to give them my preference! It's not only better for users with offline systems, but it's also much easier to migrate the system/hardware! ?
