Lots of stuff by Kansas was pretty heady too.  When I get the time I'll have to track some down...

Highways scar the mountainside, buildings to the sky, people all around.

Houses stand in endless rows, sea to shining sea, people all around.

    Yep.

To me "Song For America" is the single most unappreciated work of rock music.

To me that sound and format was totally new. And it's never been matched.

Listen to Phil's drumming along with Dave's bass playing in the beginning of the song, a work of art.

Kerry's sythn work is phenomenally beautiful in this song.

Steve's singing on this song is just unbelievable.  The emotion he projects on that last verse is breathtaking to me every single time I listen to it.

That song and that album is some of thier best work. Some of the best rock roll there is.

"Devil's Game" is another great song and another story!!

Dali's Car was a collaboration between Peter Murphy of Bauhaus and Mick Karn of Japan after the demise of both of those bands.

    Dali's Car - His Box

I listened to about half of this before moving on. Not my cup of tea.

But then that damn synth riff kept playing in my head and I knew I had to go back a listen to the whole damn thing!!

    Actually not bad.

all the types of ladies out there, I definitely have a sweet spot for Japanese/Americans!  *Sigh...* ?

My sweet spot is for French girls like the one in Pulp Fiction.

    Or the AT&T girl!!

    Or Elaine from Seinfeld

    Or 7of9 from STV

    Or Dr Crusher from STTNG

    Or Deanna Troy from STTNG

    Or......

[Edit] Or Malcom in the Middle's mom!!

    I'm not really picky!!

Wha? The bass player has the samllest amp?

Just to ease your mind, I think that may be an optical illusion!!

But it could just be my old age playing tricks on me and my mind trying to justify it!!!

  6. Found this from that 'mysterious YouTube' algo! Nice couple of  short interviews at the end. It appears to be a Japanese show. Makes you wonder why they don't do this over here.

  7. Listened to all three versions. And I still like the Ventures version. Has more energy. That's not taking anything away fromChet or Johnny. I really like both thier versions too.

I am just a little partial to the Ventures. I remember hearing this song for the first time on a school bus on our way to school (not many buses had a radio in the back then!). Being a aspiring drummer, this was the best song I had ever heard.

I've always looked the other way when I saw a UAD sale/thread because they were waaaaay too expensive.

I was exactly the same way. In fact, a user here was going to give me a great deal on a UAD card but I turned it down because I didn't want to get caught up in that money pit!!

Then Larry had a used USB Apollo he was getting rid of and offered me a great price. I took him up on it.

Having that Unison tech just changed the way I record. And I am really not overstating this. Those channel strips, when paired with a good mic (I have a middle of the road AT 4040) just get the job done. Flat out done. I am no longer fighting to get my vocals sitting in my mixes. I pick a channel strip (SSL is my fav, followed by a very close second API), get a vocal sound I like, record, and I am done! Very minor eq'ing needed. And when I add a little reverb, icing on the cake.

I am by no means an expert. I am just telling my story.

BTW, I got some extra processing power to help with mixing. And when I thought it couldn't get any better I upgraded that USB Apollo for the improved Apollo Twin X Quad TB3. To me, it was worth every cent.

(although tbh, almost everything on the first 5-6 albums is "one of my favorte Sabbath songs"

Yep!! Sabbath Bloody Sabbath & Sabotage, couple of my favs.

Great job Bob. You did it justice. Tempo is great. Vocal great. Guitar tone is spot on.

  10. Agreed about the loudness of the more powerful GPU's.

I really don't think most plugins would take much power, so a really noisy GPU may not be needed.

    That's what I am thinking anyway. I don't really have a clue!!

I remember reading a good while back about programs taking advantage of unused GPU processing power. First thing I thought of was audio programs doing the same thing. But that hasn't developed like I thought it would.

Are those silent (no vents ? ) becuase they tend to heat quiet much at school

My Apollo Twin X Quad does get warm. I wouldn't say hot, but definitely warm. I have left it on for days and it never gets above that "warm" temperature.  It does have lots of vents on it. And it is silent. However, when you change sample rate or change the input impedance (by switching between Unison plugins) it will make a clicking noise.
