  1. Many of them actually still use Ilok, but without the need to install the ilok software. Sonible is an example of that. I think Pace offers this as a white labeled machine authentication, and Sonbile still enables you to move the machine license to Ilok if you want, if not, it authorized based on the machine (default). In other words, they are still using Ilok but have hidden it and you don’t require the Ilok software.
  2. They (team Papen) are still very active and have some unique plugins (like 25 or so). I never fancied the look and feel but they have a good tag-based preset system with audio previews and tons of presets. Their latest version if the explorer bundle was just released quite recently so the company is still very active, My favorite is probably Predator, but Ron Papen has som unique effects as well that gets occasional use.
  3. You can move them to ilok, that’s why I do be use I anyway need to use ilok. Can you de register a machine on their site though?
  4. Uvi workstation is their player, but it currenty only supports samlebased libraries (?). Halionsonic is just that though, and I suspect UVI will eventually follow
  5. What is at lest the name of the infamous other site, if links are forbidden for what ever reason (against forum rules or not)? Is it on Reddit? An existing forum?
  6. I guess this is similar to sonible smartverb
  7. I tried to change my password to mirror the native one, but it didn’t work. My understanding is that they’ve blocked this as they are transitioning to a joint account database. They are using the same backend but currently with 2 separate user account databases. .
  8. I wish the old modules had been updated in stead of adding new ones which mostly overlap with the existing ones. The bundle is still missing basic features like gain compensation, ducking, mix knob, better visualization and dynamic eq. I’m fact, I would have bought the upgrade even without any new plugins if these features had been added but don’t need more saturators so will not bite at €125 inc VAT.

    UVI $20 off

I’d go with Falcon, not a fan of sampled synths
  10. I’d give shade a go, amazing tool for movement and special fx
  11. Another 10% for existing clients, check your mail. Pretty good add-on
  12. Ohly support for speakers and measurement I think
  13. There are other useful features of VST3 depending on your use case, ex Note expression, surround out, sample accurate automation, better remote support and while some plugins may support side chaining I prefer a standard approach without vendor workarounds etc. Summary of new VST3 features: VST features I don’t mind VST2 plugins (in many cases it’s all the same) but the fact that a VST3 version is missing may be a sign that the plugin is no longer maintained. i only install the VST3 version myself although these plugins generally tend to have more issues. It’s probably because they are using a lot of new code and the situation should improve over time. It’s already a lot better than it was 1-2 years ago.
  14. My primary use case is using it with a side chain in spectral mode, for instance to carve out space for vocals. It’s also very tweakable and if you open the advanced mode you can pretty much make it sound like any other compressor, and you can play with the styles if you don’t want to deep dive manually. The last thing I really like is the visual feedback. I’m not saying it’s for you, but just wanted to share a different view if someone is considering it.
