Oke Bandlab/Cakewalk is really awesome.
Feral State Sound replied to Boutbeats's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I am also having issues with Waves plugins, specially with their virtual instruments (Grand Rhapsody and Basses). I love CbB but this is surely a drawback. Edit: @Noel Borthwick I am sure that you are doing the best as you can and I am grateful with all The Bakers but maybe this should be revised again. No problems on scanning those plugins in REAPER and Studio One. -
EW Play 6.1.2 is not working on CbB 2019.07
Feral State Sound replied to Feral State Sound's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thank you Mathew. I can use Play Software now and all of the Waves plugins, the problem was that I had the options "Rescan failed plugins" and "Rescan all plugins" enabled under VST settings. I am not sure if this is a bug, but you can try it out the following: perform a VST reset and then enable those settings and do a manual scan. This way the program doesn´t find some plugins, including Play and Waves. -
EW Play 6.1.2 is not working on CbB 2019.07
Feral State Sound replied to Feral State Sound's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I have tested it on two different computers and I had exactly the same result: Cakewalk didn't detect the Play.vst3 plugin and REAPER crashed on the first scan but let me use the plugin after re-opening the program. Windows 10 1903 Cakewalk by Bandlab 2019.07 PLAY software 6.1.2 -
Is anyone using EW products on CbB? PLAY software is getting me mad. If I try to re-scan the VST plugins CbB gets stuck while scanning the latest VST version of the plugin. Even REAPER crashes while scanning it, but fortunately I can still using it in that DAW after the crash. Can anything be done to solve the problem? Thank you! Note: I am getting similar problems with Waves plugins (Grand Rhapsody Grand and Bass Fingers) but this time only in CbB.

Maybe Musictech will do a Cakewalk review since it is owned by Bandlab

I don't know how to describe it but for me it is looking a little blurred and too big to work comfortably.

I am using Cakewalk on a 13'3 FullHD screen with the scale set to 150% and the program looks like crap. Is there any plans to improve the HiDPI support? Maybe am I missing any settings under preferences? Thank you!

That's a worthy update! One that adds an excellent new feature and also fix some long-standing problems. I was hating this bug personally: "Staff view fails to persist on project load". I hope Bandlap to continue this way and finally end with the Gibson way of doing things. I mean, the "monthly" non-sense and the over-promising tendency.

You also have Davinci Resolve for free. It's more than a decent video editor.

Maybe Is it Studio One 4.5 or Notion 7?

NI Heavyweight Bass and Drums featuring OTS
Feral State Sound replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Super deal! Very tempting... I would have bought it if they had included at least one virtual guitar. Impact Soundworks and Orange Tree Samples has some nice ones, but I don't need 50 drumkits or 10 basses... -
There is nothing like a Marketing campaign for now... I wonder if it's because Bandlab is still preparing a new Cakewalk website or if It's due to Cakewalk not being a priority for them, time will tell. Nevertheless, It is also a reality that some people are switching to Cakewalk from different DAW, here an example:

I had understood that this tutorial series were the latest with Cakewalk due to the bugs and issues that you are experimenting with the program. Am I correct? Do you have a new deal with Bandlab? Thank you! Excellent tutorials!

Make sure you have the option "show vertical gridlines" enabled in the View palette.

He just answered most of our comments in a new video: -
Chernobyl Studios Cakewalk Mixing Tutorial Cancelled Due to Bugs
Feral State Sound replied to Davydh's topic in Feedback Loop
Could you develop your opinion more? I think that this guy is making a real effort on creating free content for the people interested on Cakewalk but he cannot continue due to those bugs. Nevertheless, he is a reasonable person and he mantains his commitment of creating tutorials for it. -
Chernobyl Studios Cakewalk Mixing Tutorial Cancelled Due to Bugs
Feral State Sound replied to Davydh's topic in Feedback Loop
I think that him should stay considering that he has the biggest Cakewalk oriented Youtube channel... In fact, I think that Bandlab should contact him for keep making content and also try to fix these bugs as soon as possible (Fabfilter is not a underground plugin company and all of reported bugs on the video are severe). -
I have "Auto Focus" always enabled only by pressing the button one time... That's a weird problem Did you tried to contact the support?

BUGS and BIGS ISSUES EXPLAINED IN THIS VIDEO
Feral State Sound replied to Jaime Ramírez's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I have followed Scott videos since I have started to use Cakewalk SONAR on 2016 if I remember well. In those times, Chernobyl Studios was the only "serious" channel that was making free updated and quality material about that DAW. So much was this way that even Cakewalk had contacted Scott for making the last official Cakewalk videos and to provide official Demo projects that are still present on CbB. I was truly disappointed for the Bandlab decision of not contacting him for keep making quality official Cakewalk content. I hope that at least Bandlab consider to listen some of his (more than reasonable) criticisms. -
I think that only the first two points and maybe the sixth are applicable to Cakewalk this times. AFAIK Bandlab is working on the bundled Cakewalk instruments and maybe we will see more of them added soon and there is no need of marketing for a free product. In my opinion, being free for everyone is the best possible marketing strategy (but maybe it would be better to announce the actual program on the Bandlab main page). The learning material is growing each day and I think that this is going to be the rule as long as the program remains free. When I started to show some interest on Cakewalk SONAR (maybe 2016 or 2017), there was only one Youtube channel that was making updated and quality free training content for Cakewalk, Chernobyl Studios. For me, that was symptomatic of a dying program. Now, if you search for "Cakewalk" on Youtube, you will see tons of new updated videos about the program and even people switching to Cakewalk from other DAWs (Fortiori for example). As if it was not enough, you also have the Craig Anderton book and an official online and offline free wonderful manual. So, in this part I think that the program is advancing adequately. On the other hand, I am not sure about the Bandlab commitment to fix the long-standing Cakewalk bugs or any intention to make the program cross-platform. The second can wait but I think that it is a must in the long-term if Bandlab plans to reach a large audience. Regarding Cakewalk bugs, although it seems that Bandlab is concentrating on stability and fixes, it is strange that some of the serious bugs stills remains one year after the re-release and the same applies to the half-finished features, they are still half-finished and there is no commitment to improve them (ehem ehem Staff editor , cough cough Matrix view). Are you losing interest on developing the product? Everything seems to go reaaaally slow. Edit: Please don't tell me that I cannot make any requests or demands because the program is wonderful and it is free. Cakewalk is only free for now as we finally know what are the Bandlab plans for it. For me, the program it is free to download but not completely free, at least as long you are sending analytics about your personal use.

I agree with you, the Skylight interface is one of the best UI of all DAW. But it is true that the developers should consider selecting the BASIC lense as default for newcomers. REAPER has excellent performance when using VST plugins and is less-bloated than Cakewalk by default, but it is only a matter of time that you start adding custom actions, new toolbars, shortcuts, scripts, skins and such....
