I have a Focusrite 18i8 first generation that I'm using with ASIO drivers. It works fine 90% of the time but I've noticed that when I do a lot of playing and stopping quickly (which I do frequently because I'm editing small sections of MIDI), it will occassionally either: 1) Play no audio when I hit play (the transport moves but no audio). If I stop and start again then the audio comes back. or 2) Continuously play a static / humming sound through the speakers when the playhead is stopped. This goes away if I hit "play" again or if I reset the audio interface using the button in the control bar. Anyone have similar behavior? It's not a huge deal but it gets a little bit annoying over a long session when one out of every 5-10 "plays" has a problem.

Last night I spent an undue amount of time extending the MIDI clip lengths because they either didn't start exactly on the measure, or they didn't finish exactly on the measure. The problem is that if I don't make these adjustments, then copying/pasting or groove clip looping doesn't work like I want it to. For example, when I drag in a 2-bar drum loop from Addictive Drums, Cakwalk will consider it to be slightly less than 2 bars, possibly because it doesn't have a MIDI note right at the very end. But this also happens with MIDI playing. Or even while making edits, it seems like Cakewalk is overly eager to make my MIDI clip lengths less than I want them! Other DAWs don't seem to have this behavior. . . they round off to the nearest bar with the MIDI clip. Does anyone else deal with this issue? Is this something to do with my settings? Or is this is a Cakewalk-unique workflow that I need to understand better?

Thanks again. I tried the ProTools mapping as well with the HUI. The loop button was correctly mapped but some of the other buttons didn't work as well, so overall I think the Standard MCU is the better fit. Really appreciate your help and also your efforts on making that software!

Phenomenal! Love the little video images because usually it's a little hard to understand the changed just by reading. Really great update, hats off to the bakers!

Is there a way to easily create a automation lane with a parameter assigned? I know there's a dropdown list for that instrument when you create an automation lane but I was wondering if there's an easier way if I'm tweaking a knob in the VST and want to automate it.

I have an Arturia Keylab MK2 MIDI controller. When I load up Analog Lab 4, it automatically maps the knobs and sliders to various controls in Analog Lab 4. When I record MIDI and move the knobs, I see the CC changes overlay on the MIDI note recording and when I open the piano roll I can see the control changes as separate lanes. Is there a way to show that data as separate automation lanes in the track view instead of showing it in the piano roll view?

Honestly DAWs can be finicky sometimes. One person may have a lot of issues with a certain DAW while others don't because of their system configuration. Better to just find a DAW that doesn't crash for you!

Fantastic! Works great now. The transport buttons all work except for the "loop" button, the track select buttons, faders, and knobs all work as well. Some of the buttons are mapped a little bit incorrectly for the controls. . i.e. the loop button doesn't seem to do anything but the "metronome" button enables loop mode, etc. I can't edit the messages the Arturia is sending in this mode, is there a way to edit the configuration on the receiving end to interpret it as a different command? Thanks so much for the help, that makes a huge difference.

Ah OK I didn't notice the "Disable Handshake" there. . . I will try it later, thank you!
-
I'm not sure where that would be located? I opened the ACT controller configuration where it shows the various settings for the Mackie controller in Cakewalk and didn't see an option to disable handshake. Which "Utilities menu" are you referring to? It's in the ACT Controller box in the ribbon/console at the top of Cakewalk.

Unfortunately I tried this evening with no success. . . still giving the "Connecting" message no matter what I do
-
Why don't you want to use groove clips? This is what it is for...
-
Fantastic, I'll try it when I get home. Thanks! I guess you're a computer programmer of some sorts, eh?

Thanks! Is there a way to configure the same in the Cakewalk settings or editing a file myself rather than downloading a .dll file. Makes me a little nervous.

Does anyone have a Keylab MK2 keyboard working successfully in DAW mode? I am setting the Keylab to Mackie MCU protocol but Cakewalk refuses to connect to it. The ACT just says "Connecting". I tried various things for an hour last night such as re-installing, deleting the mapping files in the %appdata% folder, but nothing works. I have my MIDI inputs set to the MK2 Input and the MIDI IN 2 and the output set to MIDI OUT 2. The Mackie Control Universal control surface is set to use the MIDI IN 2 / MIDI OUT 2. If I remove the Control Surface from Cakewalk setup, I can verify that note data is being received when I push the various transport control buttons on the MK2. I know there's a workaround to get the transport controls working but I want the whole thing working where the sliders control volume for the different tracks, etc. Works OK in other DAWs (Studio One, Reaper, FL Studio).

Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Monitor Headphones
Lee D replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
If you guys are in the market for headphones and you're OK with open headphones I'd recommend the Philips Fidelio X2. . . $150 on Amazon right now and they are amazing. I just compared a few headphones and these are by far the best in my opinion anywhere in this price range. -
It's a great synth. You need a high-resolution display though and a pretty powerful rig to run it. Definite recommended buy at this price.

Thank you Noel!

[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2019.07 Early Access 1

Thanks Noel, you are correct that it what I was asking about. -
Is it possible nowadays to loop record a drum VST now so that each take you're recording a separate instrument and building the drum beat by making multiple passes? aka the first pass I do kick drum, then the next pass I do snare and I hear the kick drum from the last pass, and so on? Previously that was not possible.

Holy crap that's awesome... I will be checking that out at work tomorrow for sure!

Have you read Bandlab's privacy policy? I think your view is a little naive to be honest. You have to sign up for a Bandlab account to get Cakewalk, why do you think that is? By the way, I don't think there is anything bad or evil with collecting user marketing data in exchange for free services.
