Yep that does it for me every time , loved that wah wah , Ive tried a few Vst`s never get any where near that tone , great piece of work classy cheers P

    hello paul!

    thanks for listening

yea, the wah is fun, especially on a song like this.

i don't use vsts for guitar stuff ever.

if i'm using my amp, it's a Mesa Boogie Mark IIb head, into various cabs, with various mics OR running the amp head direct into a Palmer PDI-09 for the line level capture.

    or it's my direct rig:

the strymon actually sounds the best, but the boogie is more fun to play!

High energy stuff. Great guitar work. Could have been the theme music for Top Gear 🙂

    hey keith!

    thanks for listening

top gear, yea! those guys are adrenaline junkies too...

this is a new mix of this song, so i'm trying to dial in the sweet spot of the rhythms vs the melodies,

i try a few new parts, and tweak the drums, and just try different approaches to the mix whenever i re-release something, like this one.

it's great with Bandcamp, i can update the wav files anytime, so if i really want to keep working on something, i can.

i upload 24 bit 48khz files, so it's as high def as i'm allowed to upload.

    appreciate the comments

Hi BB, nice one,  defenitely need more guitar solo's 😉

    Rik

hehe, the whole song is a guitar solo!!

    LOL, thanks for listening Rik

  4. the snorkler has just recently been released from bogner,

interesting it went all the way back to this album.

a great guitar sound, but this seems unnecessarily complicated for the end result.

i think several songs could have been better mixed without 6 tracks of rhythm!

    love this album.

I like the sound of this - very early 70s. (And I was there.)  Great playing!

    hey thanks barry!

    glad you checked it out.

i def am inspired by early 70's, more for the performance aspect than the recording aspect, but there is a lot to learn there..

that was where stereo was really coming into play, and they were trying new stuff,

a lot that seems to have been less used now.

Now if only I could play slide half as good as this i´d be rather happy , great track as always nice one cheers P

ha! paul, i really should dedicate one of my guitars to slide and get on with it! but i almost never practice it, and chide myself for not doing so every time i decide i really want to play some slide!

who knows, maybe NOT practicing, keeps things melodic and simple. food for thought.

thanks for listening, and commenting, i appreciate it.

Hey Bats, terrific production & performances  -- bit of a Joe Walsh approach to the vocals & slide guitars (very well played) -- I enjoyed this :) -- Allan.

    thanks so much allan!

    Hi

The vocals are coming through a lot clearer

i think they must of been clashing with the guitars

sometimes i use Smart EQ to try to carve a place in the mix for each instrument/part

    great & tight song

    subvibe

Thanks for coming back to check it.

Its good getting the last minute feedback.

I have Waves Curves I can use if I need ducking, but I prefer to fix issues in the mix with changes in Eq and panning.

    Hi

the musicianship is very good & its very tight

i just seemed to miss something on the mix, it sounded a bit thin & over compressed

so drowning out the vocals ...   sorry for being harsh but its my opinion

curious what other comments are As its a very well played song

    success

    subvibe

hey subvibe, thanks for listening and commenting.

the mix isn't thin, or overcompressed, the compression i use is very transparent, and i put across in multiple locations so there's never a buildup..

but the mix could be off.

i remixed it, and brought the vox up a bit, and changed the eq on it, so it sits in a different range of eq.

complemented that on the acoustic guitars.

i'll tell you, it IS a big difference when the opening electric rhythms are playing the dual slide parts, but then drop out when the vox comes in...

so i changed that part of the mix too, and i think it should sit better now.

Love this track, guitars are rockin' 🤘

    thanks joad!

yes, this one was fun to track guitars on...

i got to play with several amp and speaker cab combos,

try gain with the amp alone, and pushed with the pedal..

i love having the Iridium, i just reach up and twist a few knobs, like a real amp, and get immediate reaction.

Pretty cool. I'm feeling a real Rickey Medlocke/Blackfoot vibe in it.

Hey chaps! Interesting, Blackfoot, I'm from Jacksonville originally. And knew a lot of those southern rockers, so yea. Maybe there's some influence in there@

I was a bit skynrd fan too...

    Thanks for listening

    You did ok!

Nah seriously, I can't speak to the mix cause I'm on my phone speaker but I like the playing and there's some cool arrangements in there.

It def works as racing music. Although I call that "surfing montage music". But it would work well for both.

Cool lead guitar tone btw. It has a nice, rich high-end pick attack. It sounds like a real, mic'd up amp to me. Im curious, what did u play thru for the solos?

    HEY T BOOG!

    thanks for listening.

what would my guitar sound like on a 'phone speaker'?!

i would imagine it would sound like an angry carpenter bee.

    LOL

so, this is the guitar rig:

    HOWDY HO PAUL~

thanks so much for the comments

those drums, i used superior drummer 3, built a custom kit (i think the basis was the room of Hansa "Marble Room" kit

(i hand tuned everything, used the superior mixer, and output to a simple drum buss (i typically add a pultec type EQP-1A for a bit of 60 hz push, and maybe 5k-8k on the high end, maybe 1 db., then i add a parametric eq and carve the low end for clarity.)
