  1. Seems like a reasonable idea to me, and I don't like subs - I dropped CorelDRAW as soon as it went sub-only and went for Affinity Design. Those who like the latest and greatest can subscribe and get the features as they come out. Those who prefer to buy perpetual licences continue to do the same thing as before - wait for a new major version to be released, decide if it's worth upgrading, and then upgrade if so. From this perspective, there is no change whatsoever. The only difference is potential FOMO that there are people using new features first.
  2. Wish they included Dark Horizon in the sale
  3. I completely understand this. I'm not suggesting anyone do it, but theoretically how would someone doing this be found out? If it's really distinctive, someone might recognise it, but I would have thought e.g. most snare samples sound fairly generic. Or does it get picked up by copyright detection technology?
  4. Try reporting this as an issue on their GitHub page - they can't fix the issue if they don't know about it https://github.com/audacity/audacity
  5. Good point. SD3 has some electronic drums in there but it's not as extensive as their sampled drums. I think it comes down to the difference in the drum types though - for (new sounding) electronic drums you probably want a drum synth engine more than a set of samples. Electronic drums are also different in that they more or less have the same timbre regardless of how hard you 'hit' them.

    50% off IMPOSCAR2

IMPOSCAR2 IS THE MULTI-AWARD WINNING REIMAGINATION OF THE OSCAR® If you’re not familiar with the impOSCar then you’re in for a real treat. However, if you fell in love with it first time around, be prepared to fall in love all over again. impOSCar2 reimagines the UK-built 80s classic and soars to new sonic heights via steroid injections of innovative features and enhancements, each designed around the wishes of those musicians, programmers and producers who loved the original. impOSCar2 comes with a 1000+ Patch library featuring sounds created by original OSCar users including Billy Currie (Ultravox), Darren Price & Rick Smith (Underworld), Paul Hartnol (Orbital), & Paul Wiffen (the original OSCar sound designer and programmer for Stevie Wonder & Jean Michel Jarre). https://www.gforcesoftware.com/products/imposcar2/ Check your emails - you might receive a code for an even deeper discount off IMPOSCAR2
  7. “Oddity2” takes the character and operational architecture of 3 generations of a classic and via a wave of enhancements, transports its spirit into a new dimension. While the duophonic and monophonic modes have been retained, Oddity2 now also offers a monophonic legato mode, plus a POLYPHONIC MODE. Everything from spiky and resonant textures to lush and warm pad sounds can either be programmed from Oddity2’s intuitive controls or simply dialled up via the 1000+ categorised patches. Via three filter modes and an additional oscillator, Oddity2 can sound as versatile and punchy as its main rival, the Mini, back in the day. Furthermore, dedicated LFO & ADSR, called XLFO & XASDR respectively, for modulation of almost every parameter make it the most programmable one yet. https://vstbuzz.com/deals/75-off-oddity2-by-gforce-software/

  8. It's all good. I remember I used to have the buy-now-learn-later mentality; figured the advice might help others with the same mindset.
  9. They have one trick the others don't - you can use them in Kilohearts' host plugins, e.g. PhasePlant
  10. Opto has a relatively long attack time - use when you want a smooth sound, e.g. on vocals, or a bus to glue things together. FET naturally is a bit crunchy, and you can set really fast attack times. Use when you want a slightly more aggressive/rough tone, e.g. on rock drums. I personally use them when applying PC on drums - use maximum ratio with really fast attack times to absolutely crush the signal. Adjust the wet/dry ratio so you get the transients of the source, and the body of the processed. The above is just a guideline though - if they sound good somewhere, go with the flow!
  11. Sounds good - perhaps they noticed a min spend of $50 caused a lack of voucher usage; it certainly contributed to me letting a few vouchers go unused. It mentions that the new vouchers will exclude the latest and greatest for a little while - I wonder how long that gap will be.
  12. Got to agree with you there. It might sound silly, but it's been a factor in me staying out of sales from Orchestral Tools and Spitfire (who are fairly large teams); I don't want to learn a different plugin. Probably a good thing though - I have enough orchestral libraries and if I can't make music that sounds good from those, the problem lies with my skill rather than lack of libraries.
  13. Thanks Simeon. Does this code only work during this sale, or will it work at other times too?

  15. Are those DAW towers housed in Fractal Design Define cases? They look a bit like them; very nice PC cases.
  16. It's also slightly strange comparing the price of a PC with all new components including warranty (I'm assuming), to that of a PC with an OS licence of questionable nature and second-hand components where the vendor of your graphics card would probably shrug shoulders if it broke one day.
  17. Hey @Peter - IK Multimedia - if I plug in a guitar and record a gear snapshot*, will the tone sound different if I plug in a completely different guitar that naturally has a different sound (e.g. if they have different pickups)? Or is there some sort of modelling that tries to make the input signals the same too? *sorry if I've not used the right terminology
  18. That's kinda different though: a company has a choice whether it continues to offer a payment plan; on the other hand, it's (really) quite difficult to continue paying peoples' salaries when there's nothing left in the bank.
  19. Well... the phrase goes that third time's a charm. Not sure whether that applies here, but we are talking Heavyocity - so probably ?
  20. Immerse yourself in this richly evocative, atmospheric, and soul-stirring vocal experience. Vocalise 3 is an emotive exploration that unearths the beauty, intimacy, and profound power of the human voice. From organic phrases to abstract whispers to haunting soundscapes ━ these are delicate hybrid vocals that flow beyond emotion. https://heavyocity.com/product/vocalise-3/
  21. There's a slight difference though - Pro Q3 (which indeed is excellent) is a more clean/transparent EQ, whereas the PA models introduce some colouration to the sound. Both approaches are equally valid; it just depends on the end result that you want. A typical approach might be to use the colouring EQs on individual tracks, but then to use the cleaner EQ on a bus.
  22. Looks like it's still live at Black Octopus; maybe at some other places too? https://blackoctopus-sound.com/product/ik-multimedia-miroslav-philharmonik-2/
  23. As I understand, these are select patches from their other paid-for collections; you might want to take a look at those, and they do have sales every now and then.

Very cool song indeed. Kinda reminds me (in a good way) of the soundtracks of some games I used to play on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive
