I too forgot to make use of the voucher first time; Doh! Managed to get Sandman for free though ?

Great tune LadyFuzztail. Lots of energy and movement, with percussion filling in many sonic gaps. I enjoyed that!

Some of you may remember this one; I thought I might redo a tune I did a few years ago, using some plugins I recently added to my collection. As usual, comments and feedback are welcome. Enjoy, and comment/like/subscribe if you feel inclined! or...

Hi all I'm currently thinking about getting a cheapish MIDI expression pedal for the studio (only), and I've currently narrowed it down to two choices: Nektar NX-P M-Audio EX-P Does anyone have any experience with either of these, or recommendations for any other pedals? Thanks

Useful advice to keep in mind for my next orchestration; thanks for the tip! Also, thanks for listening LadyFuzztail. Glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks. I could have tightened up the timing, but felt that keeping things loose (for the first section) with an instrumentally sparse arrangement felt more intimate and emotionally moving. Thanks for the comments and for listening everyone. Glad you liked it.

Nice song; sort of reminds me of the Proclaimers Catchy melody and chord progressions, with a well played guitar solo; well done!

Nice tune @Wookiee Calm and flowy, with (as you say) little surprises every now and then to shake things up a little, especially the drums towards the end. Thanks for sharing.

I was recently entertaining the idea of getting a pad controller, and did some online research. For the quality/sensitivity of the pads, the conclusion of a video group review I saw was that of the 'cheap' controllers, the Maschine Mikro mk3 was the best; the Presonus ATOM came next. For the very best in pad quality, you'd need to go for a (full) Maschine. Apparently, the Mikro mk3 had slightly less sensitive pads, and was occasionally prone to double triggers (whereas the full Maschine didn't). It's a shame really, as not everyone has the budget/space for a full Maschine.

Anyone interested in learning more about orchestration might want to have a look at this http://northernsounds.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/77-Principles-of-Orchestration-On-line I didn't expect it to still be available, but I'm glad it is. I went through it a long time ago and while I don't remember everything from it, I did pick up some useful tips that I still use every now and then.

The Arrival was an opportunity to use my library of cinematic whacks/drops, and I had to do them justice ? Thanks for listening!

Thanks for listening and the kind words SPAK, Eric, and Michael. I’m glad you liked it. The whole piece sort of derived from the piano riff, and I initially had the clarinet/bassoon in the middle section playing the riff too. It was after a little while that I realised it was an opportunity to build on it melodically to hit a few other notes as well; I think it’s because of that that makes the original riff returning in the end feel more like ‘coming home’. I’m also pleased that Pianoteq was able to bring across the feeling I was trying to convey on my MIDI piano. Thanks again!

Could someone elaborate on a typically usage of Neutron in a project? Is it a case of putting an instance on each track/bus and using Neutron's built in modules? If so, does that mean that it becomes impractical to use other 3rd party effects (e.g. EQ/compressors)?

Sounds like Apple just want to split iTunes up into multiple new services/apps, each charging new extortionate prices and installing a variety of bloatware.

Also keep in mind that any mechanical HDD is going to be louder than an SSD: SSDs don't have any physically moving parts (and so will probably generate less heat; meaning less cooling overall is needed for your PC [in turn possibly meaning quieter PC case fans]). If you can, go for a newer processor architecture, i.e. an i9 if you're going for Intel. If you're after an M2 for speed, I'd recommend using it for the OS/program data, and one or more SSDs for your sample libraries. If you have the chance to spec out the case fans, larger fans provide more cooling with less movement so opt for 12cm fans if available; I also recommend Noctua fans for quietness.

How 'bout a Baritone Sax vst? Any recommendations?
antler replied to Christian Jones's topic in The Coffee House
The Audio Modeling (SWAM) Saxophones are modelled (rather than sampled), so you should be able to get a more realistic performance if programmed/played correctly.
