They were playing here last weekend - on my night off (this never happens) but I still managed to miss them. Accept would have been the very first show I would have attended when I discovered metal back in the days, but my parents wouldn't allow me. Although my mother did give me money for a t-shirt that a friend then bought for me at the concert. The Metal Heart tour - and I was crazy about that record.

What Recording Software Will You Be Upgrading?
Rain replied to Tim Smith's topic in The Coffee House
My computer is the next thing I'll upgrade. My iMac turned 8 a few days ago. And I dread the software updates and plug-in installations that will follow. I have not updated any of that stuff in years. In fact, I still have my old 2010 MacBook Pro on which I reinstalled the original OS a few years ago - it's running Logic 9 beautifully. And Logic 9 itself does pretty much everything I need it to do. If not for a few plug-in instruments that I can't install and run on that platform, I would be happy with that rig for ages to come. -
Alice Cooper - Lace and Whiskey

Not at all - Boston is my US team. But I root for all Canadian teams (except Calgary) - especially Toronto and Montreal. Since I can't stand Boston's announcers (they've been voted worst in the league, so apparently it's not just me), I ended up watching the Leafs' games instead and grew particularly fond of them.

Dr. Feelgood - Milk and Alcohol

That one turned 30 at the end of September - and landed on Billboard's Top 10 for the occasion. Made me feel old, but what a terrific record. Dio - Egypt (The Chains Are On).

They told him it was a giant Martini. "Imagine the olive size!"

Recreating the Drums from ELO's Don't Bring Me Down
Rain replied to bitflipper's topic in The Coffee House
Talk about a coincidence! I just woke up with that song in my head. I only recently got into ELO but I am digging them. For once, I had guessed correctly. Although I have no merit at all, as I used to mess with pitch all the time to fatten up drum sounds back in the days when I built all my drum tracks in Fruity Loops. Came intuitively. Anyway, thanks a bunch for posting this! -
Alice Cooper - Gutter Cat vs. The Jets. (More than the hits, this is the type of song that made me a HUGE fan of Alice - and Bob Ezrin).

The Cure - All Cats Are Grey

Depeche Mode announced that they were coming to Vegas a few days ago, and they're one of my favorite bands, so even if I usually avoid live shows, in this case, I did consider the idea. A friend was asking how expensive I thought the tickets would be. I started thinking of the last time I bought tickets... At first, I thought it would have been... 1986, Metallica, Matser of Puppets tour in a small town, East of Quebec with merely a few thousand people. $11.50. That was my point of reference. lol I then remembered that I did buy tickets for Muse in 2010 for me and my ex - but I can't remember the cost. Every other show I've attended, I did because I'd received tickets as a gift. All of them. But honestly, that wouldn't be that many. A stingy misanthrope is what I am. I can imagine attending a performance by a string quartet or something. The people there would probably look down on me for wearing combat boots with my suit, but, that's still better than the average rock show...

LOL Reason number 2 why I prefer watching concerts from home - humans... But you are perfectly right! (Number 1 would be the volume. I know this is heresy for a rock musicians but I do not like loud music. And concerts are typically more about experiencing (aka having your senses overwhelmed) than properly hearing - which allows some musicians to get away with a lot... I believe Nine Inch Nails is the only band I've seen live which was both incredibly loud and incredibly clean - which is even more amazing considering the notoriously poor acoustics in that venue they were playing. The hologram still makes a lot more sense to me than the DJ thing. No worse than watching a CGI movie...
