  1. It’s not a paid product really. It is only an included part of an existing service And it always on sale. $49-$79 and at most $99.
  2. I wonder why people keep asking these same questions when it much easier to just try it for your self?
  3. Thanks. I guess you guys fixed that as originally it was the one that didn’t work. I think?
  4. I just Googled Cakewalk Command Centre and looked for the one with the 2024 date. It is version 1.1.8 It’s not the one on the legacy site. There’s lots of info here on the forum too. I found it quickly on the Product Release information.
  5. Possibly related. I have 4 interfaces but I mostly use my Motu M4 because I really like the monitoring setup. This issue doesn’t happen with my other interfaces. If I have been using other apps or the internet there will be an issue with recording audio. On playback it is a subtle warble or distortion sort of like you are describing. My workaround is simply restarting the computer before I settle down to only using my Daw and recording. So try that. Totally rebooting first and only open Sonar.
  6. Normally that would be a typical marketing strategy but so far it’s been pretty quiet out there. It’s seems like there’s no budget for advertising.
  7. I love your ( cheap) comment. That pretty much describes the situation.
  8. Interesting! The only software that I use that crashes is Sonar and Vegas. They are also the only software I use that use DX plugins! Interesting for sure.
  9. I used Cakewalk in a similar way a year ago so I totally sympathize. But I also think that you are taking a big risk using free software at a gig. You will have no guarantee of dependability. I am a huge believer in making sure that nothing can go wrong at a gig and that there is always a backup plan. The difference between a pro and an amateur. Your best option is to purchase the annual membership. Then the internet will not be involved and potential time outs. Bottom line is the membership version is designed for professionals. The free version is for hobbyists. And I noticed that they have updated some stuff for the playlist in the latest release. There’s also a possibility that they may decide to make the playlist a Golden Crown feature for members only.
  10. If this actually works I would be amazed. If you can cheat the system come back in September and let us know. I think the activation timer count down aspect was added to the last version. the required version. They knew what they were doing they are smart people. So being off line will make no difference. The timer is built into your copy locally. @Noel Borthwick, @Jonathan Sasor could you please confirm this so we can kill this misinformation posted by Mr King. Thank you.
  11. I too found this odd as well as a few of the cool things Next can do that Sonar can’t. like Stem Separation Drag a midi file to an empty project and it instantly populates the project with instrument tracks and pretty decent sounds. Sonar no longer includes the TTS-1 and it still uses midi tracks instead of instrument tracks. Sonar now requires a lot of work to just take a midi file and set it up with the correct sounds. Next does this in like 5 seconds. Sonar no longer has GM sounds or much of anything for instruments. Next has a lot and many are very good quality. Simple, but well done. I would imagine that they have some sort of plan to use these in Sonar someday. Working with audio loops is far easier. Even I figured it out how to make a drum track that plays at the correct tempo in a few minutes without reading the instructions.
  12. Have you installed the latest version? In the release notes it states that there was a couple of fixes to the Playlist.
  13. Solved. I used the Rescan Failed Plugins now it is showing.
  14. There is definitely something not quite right about this latest version. I couldn’t find Drum Replacer. I finally got it back by using the “Scan Failed Plugins “ it also fixed a few I didn’t know were missing. So give that a try. It’s found in Preferences/ VST settings.
  15. I think that @Jesse Jost is in charge of the forum.
  16. I installed TH3 using X3. I also bought a full license for THU last Fall for dirt cheap.
  17. I see what you’re saying. Actually what makes sense is simply re-name the Cakewalk sub forum and call it something like Free Tier Sonar/ Cakewalk. This makes sense because it seems like the Cakewalk users are now posting stuff about Sonar in the Cakewalk form anyway because they’re used to posting stuff there. If anything I would like is to amalgamate the Question and Answers sub forum. It’s exactly the same stuff posted there and I’ve always disliked that it doesn’t show the last post when I am scanning to see if there’s any action on a thread. And barely anyone has ever used the vote system anyway. What I was getting at is every time I come here I have to open at least the 3 sub forums to see what is happening. Sonar, Cakewalk and Q&A. @Jim FogleI agree as I too miss the old sub forum that was for Home Studio. I guess the new Home Studio is Cakewalk Next. I like the simplicity of Next. But every time I tried to use it I would run into some major bugs. It is cross platform so has a great potential. Theres probably a Facebook group for Sonar Legacy users.
  18. I disagree with this. I find that most user forums are not broken down into tier levels. They just have sub forums for specific topics like here we have the Song, Coffee House etc. I have found it a huge pain having to open at least 4 sub forums here that all have more ore less the same questions asked. The Sonar sub forum has generally had way less traffic than the Cakewalk sub forum. The Next sub forum has almost zero. But it needs to be separate. There is almost zero difference between the Free Version and the Premium version so what would be the point? Since the New Sonar sub forum has been created there has been dozens of questions from legacy users. We help everyone if we can. On the Cakewalk forum newbie’s questions had almost dried up possibly because the flow of users was leaving, not coming. This move to a free version is what Sonar needed to stop the decline of users. I think a re vamp of this forum is in order. Way too many unused sub forums and we don’t need even more.
  19. I think it’s safe as long as you don’t choose delete all associated files. But this is a good question and possibly clear instructions from the developers that could be posted here as a sticky thread might be helpful. ?? @Noel Borthwick @Jesse Jost @Jonathan Sasor
  20. If I remember my history correctly we all had no problem with Cakewalk/ Sonars graphics up until X1 came out. The comments were pretty much just like we are now seeing since New Sonar was released. X1 also at the time was a regressive version that was unstable and very buggy! And ya, people like me hated it enough to stay using Sonar 8.5. So I imagine that the solution was the theme editor that didn’t come along until Platinum was released as well as the sort of subscription idea too. The X series would go down in history as the most unstable and ugly versions ever. I have always maintained installing 8.5 where I get the majority of my favourite VST’s from. Those have not changed since that time. When you think about it that’s kinda weird! But I just love how cheerful it looks with all the different colours. Anyhow history is repeating itself and I guess if we hang around long enough they will fix it.
  21. Yesterday to try and troubleshoot why I don’t have Drum Replacer in the Free Version I logged out of my account and logged back in using my other account that still has a membership which expires tomorrow. Anyhow Sonar opened and no Nag bar at the top. So was definitely the full version. Still no Drum Replacer so I closed Sonar and rebooted the computer on the off chance that would help. When I reopened Sonar I got the Nag screen and the countdown? When it opened there was no nag bar and checking in About it was definitely the paid version. Oh well, I closed Sonar and moved on to another app and shut down. Later that night I booted up and again when I started Sonar I got the nag and countdown. And once again when it opened it was the full version with no nag bar. Could this be caused by Cakewalk and the product centre being signed in still with other account?
  22. Thanks. Weird that 2 completely different computers are involved ? I keep everything default. Sonar is still scanning on start up because I haven’t bothered to change anything yet. No loss. It’s just that I had posted that it’s one of the things missing from the Free tier version.
  23. These are the best ones I did. My channel has lots of videos regarding the different daw’s I tested as well.
  24. Attention @Jonathan Sasor As per conversation in another thread. Thought it better to start fresh. Main Desktop - On a fresh install on a brand new OS build with only Sonar X3 and Platinum previously installed. I installed the Cakewalk Product Centre. Log in using John Vere account ( no membership) I installed Sonar, I installed Drum Replacer. As you see in the screenshot all show as up to date. Using the Free Tier version- Highlight Audio clip -Regional effects and there is no Drum Replacer. Re install Drum replacer, re boot computer etc. Check and it shows in the correct folder location. Laptop- This had Sonar installed and authorized with my other Membership Sock Monkey ( membership expires tomorrow) I installed Cakewalk Product Center and logged in using my Membership account. I installed Cakewalk, Updated Sonar and installed Drum Replacer. All show as up to date. No Drum replacer is found in both Cakewalk and Sonar. You can see by the missing Nag screen that this is a full likened version. Is Drum Replacer no longer a regional effect?
