  1. Thinking the W11 install unregistered  Rapture pro Just re install it using CCC. That’s drop out issue solved but still the Latency Monitor report needs attention.

Question for everyone. Didn’t have time to read this whole thread. But what I gleaned was even though my 10 year old HP Pavilion tells me it isn’t compatible with W11 it would probably be fine.
I just bought a 500 GB SSD to replace the 250 OS drive and thinking I might as well download  the W11 version to install fresh.
    Thoughts?
Figure I have nothing to loose as will still have the original 250 W10 OS drive to fall back on.

  2. Ok. Your right I thought it said none but it says Omni now didn’t notice this changed. But in that setting seems everything can be input. I just tried it and my controller and the virtual keyboard both work.
So I assume a loop back from a synth set with midi output would as well As you say they fixed this. So no longer true.
I used to get double notes from the old system with my Akai  controller. Funny it was only ever 2 notes. You would think it would be infinite if it was looping. I found disabling all midi outputs solved the issue.
At that time I was unaware of the the fact that each instrument has a output option.

  3. Funny I uploads lot of screen shots here directly from my computer been doing it for years.

Only thing can’t upload is a GIF so I use GIffy.
Did you try the Command Center as Scook mentioned I use the CCC for all my older products on a new install. I have a back of the CCC download folder from the older computer.
    1. install Command Center to new machine but don’t run it yet

    2. Copy all content from back up of CCC download folder to new download folder

    3. Install everything I want using CCC. It will go faster because it doesn’t have to download anything.

I think you have to run Cakewalk in Administrative mode to authorize DimPro??

  4. What most of us have learned is if you depend on Cakewalk as your DAW then best to follow along with how they have it optimized to work smoothly. This means update it when you get the toast messages. You are automatically updated and re authorized every time. This system works for the majority of users and is 99.9 % hassle free.
Only people complaining are those who don’t update. Your choice.

  5. I have used freeze to test loopback timing offset. I take a kick drum or snare midi track and freeze SI Drums and zoom way in and it is always bang on other than the expected delay that will be part of the way thaw sample was recorded and saved. If you have ever made your own samples you need to edit the start to a very precise location or it will sound late. So it could just be certain samples that are late.
But honestly a few samples is beyond human recognition.
    example

    40 samples / 44.1= .9 ms

    40 samples/ 48 = .83 ms.

If you stand 10 feet from your guitar amp  1ms per foot x 10’ = 10 ms delay. So .9 ms of latency is like being 1 foot from your guitar amp.

  6. One other way I’ve seen this happen is when you get a Midi Loop Back. You play one note on your controller and it gets recorded but the midi goes back out and back in. This can happen if you have a midi output port enabled or certain VST instruments have output and the track is set to input none which picks up everything
It’s one reason I make sure and select my controller as the input and I always disable all midi outputs in preferences. Unless I’m using a hardware synth of course.

  7. What’s bugging me right now is on 3 computers using 3 different browsers the Documentation pictures are just icons. And ya, ya I set Cakewalk web  site to be allowed cookies. It only works on my cell phone.
So I’m sure I’m not the only one who finds the Documentation frustrating

  8. It's the same as it was in Sonar in Preferences as noted above. The new default is interesting as it puts your export in a new folder inside your project folder. In a way a good idea for those who loose stuff, but not great for making albums as you would have to open every project folder in turn to retrieve your songs.

I've always set mine in preferences to the root of my Data drive. There on the list are different album folders I might want to use so just one more click. In the past Cakewalk would remember my choice but the new dialog defaults back to my Preference setting for each new project even if I didn't close Cakewalk.

  9. Ok sorry I didn’t read  your post carefully enough but re reading it I now follow what you were doing. So forget what I said.

Myself over time have had weird issues with templates and especially old ones made in Sonar. Possibly like other things reported they break tiny little details that don’t get reported.
So a few things come to mind. Are these brand new templates or older?
What happens if you make a template as a split instrument track? Does it also loose the connection?

  10. Exactly I followed some sort of directions posted here somewhere and some how got it to work. But heaven help me if I had to repeat it.

All I wanted was a white background for the PVR

I then did save that as a customized theme and transferred it to my other 2 computers. I hope I’m good for life as long as they leave things alone now. ?

  11. Some things you are saying are contrary to how Cakewalk works so possibly this is the issue.

A split instrument track contains a instrument track with a VST or Dx instrument and a associated midi track.
The Instrument track is an audio track and it’s output should be assigned to a sub buss or the master bus, not your sound card.

Use a factory template first to avoid this happening

The midi track will be output to the instrument track.

I should be releasing my tutorial on midi tracks tonight but this one touches on the topic a bit

  12. Your audio interface is where all levels are adjusted for recording. Cakewalk only controls audio after it is recorded.
You should also watch most of these videos if you’re new to Cakewalk. Start with #1 which is about setting up your system audio

This one explains using audio tracks

  13. I was told once that modern surround sound puts the dialogue in the Center channel speaker. So if you don’t have a Center channel speaker all you mostly hear is music and sound effects.

Our small town is blessed with a movie theatre built in the 1940’s. About 15 years ago they added surround sound. It never seemed to work right. A few years ago our downtown flooded and they had to rebuild the theatre. I knew the tech who had to replace the system. He said there was only one stereo power amp?  They had everything hooked up to that.
