Now that is a piece of valuable information and good suggestions. Thank you! Yes I had my buffer set to max 2048 thinking that this will put the lowest load on my CPU and was doing my tests by recording two-three tracks at once (clean project with no plugins). But my Record I/O Buffer Size was also high - 1024. BTW is it OK to adjust the RECORD and PLAYBACK I/O buffers separately, so they have different values? Or they have to be the same? Yes, I would like to have real dropout with notification and code - that would be very informative. What do you think would be good value to decrease dropout tolerance?

Hi Cakewalkers Im testing new interface and facing some drop out issues. What I have noticed is that when a dropout occurs while recording (a one second cut off in audio) CbB is then glueing the gap and tries to go on with recording as it never happens. The glue point is sometimes good, stitch less and you would not tell that there was a cut in audio, but more often it is not prefect - has a pop in it and many times the audio clip is moved and thus out of sync with the rest ot the tracks. Anyway I don't want CbB to hide the audio cut - need to see exactly where and when audio drop out happened to pin point the cause. It happens on my both interfaces: Tascam US-144mkll with its dedicated ASIO driver latest version Steinberg UR44C - with Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver latest version To explain: because the dropouts are happening very rarely its a time (hours, days) consuming task to spot them. Therefore I just leave the recording session ON when I go for lunch, or for a nap, or anything and then when I come back I analyse the recorded waveform to check if the audio drop out happened. I was fooled till this day that I have no more dropouts because the audio waveform was constant and with no cuts, and assumed that the issue is gone. Only today a drop out happened when I was recording my tracks! I was wrong and wasted many days because I didn't know then that CbB is hiding these cuts!! I still have drop outs but it again takes days to spot them - I would have to sit hours while testing it by recording and listening for the cuts - this is the only way now that i have. I have no time for that, and I cant do it while working - recording serous stuff because I cant allow any drop outs while recording material. I whish I could leave recording ON leave it and then just check the waveform. It happens on my both interfaces: Tascam US-144mkll with its dedicated ASIO driver latest version Steinberg UR44C - with Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver latest version SPECS: Windows 11 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8665U CPU @ 1.90GHz 2.11 GHz 16.0 GB RAM SSD 1TB

Turn Intel hyperthreading off in the BIOS?
Wojtek Stecyszyn replied to RexRed's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
My machine is: i7-8665U CPU @ 1.90GHz 2.11 GHz 16 GB RAM 1TB SSD Is it good idea to disable hyperthreading in my case? I want to ask before I will try to perform this manoeuvre in BIOS (that scares me). My situation is that my new audio interface UR44C from Strindberg does have some drop outs during playback and recording and I red on the Steinberg forum that disabling hyperthreading may help. -
Thank you @Glenn Stanton I made it! Realtek ASIO is gone from my registry and Cakewalk no longer see it Ok one mission done but other is still on. Lets go back to the main topic ot this thread: In Preferences>>Audio>>Sync ans Caching under Record Latency Adjustments where we can chose the driver. I cant chose anything else than my other interface (Tascam) that I don't use so often. Each time when I chose my main interface (Steinberg UR44C) and apply - it goes back to Tascam driver. Thank God not Realtek anymore, but still - shouldn't I be able to chose there Steinberg driver so I will have it matched to my Steinberg driver chosen in Devices I/O? I guess I could also remove Tascam from registry, but I would like to keep this option and use it when necessary with CbB.

Sure I do. I have Steinberg UR44C and Tascam US-144mkll Both of them are seen in Device Manager and Registry editor (beside Realtek driver).

Record Latency Adjustment device
Wojtek Stecyszyn replied to mikec137's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks Glenn, I've tried it just now and unfortunately it didn't work for me. When I disable Realtek driver (either from Windows Sound Settings or Device manager Realtek Audio Prosperities) and disconnect my interface - Windows is unable to play sound. "No output device found" It doesn't seem to find any other drivers to use. So in my case, when I need sometimes to use my laptop without audio interface am I condemned to the Realtek driver, or is there other solution for me? EDIT: I see that you also caught me on the other topic, so maybe lets keep it there and not double the action see you there: -

@Bass Guitar "Didn't you read this old thread? What was the answer? " I read all there is available on this topic, nevertheless I didn't find the specific answer. Hence my question. Pardon if it bothers you - Im sure you also was at some point in the place where you simply didn't know these stuff Peace. And that is the information I was looking for. Clear and sweet, thank you

Does it mean that I can get rid of Realtek ASIO from Registry and still have sound output from laptop even without any audio interface connected?
-
.

Which one of these 3 is responsible for audio when your laptop operates without audio interface connected? Well the thing is that I CAN'T SET IT to anything else than Realtek, despite that I have two other entries on this list: my two audio interfaces.

Please show us what do you have in Regisrty Editor under registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO

Hi I have similar problem. In Record Latency Adjustment it goes back and stays on Realtek ASIO and ignore my Yamaha Steinberg ASIO driver I could remove Realtek ASIO from registry BUT I have one concern: Often I am on the road and use my laptop without interface (film watching, YT etc) and then I don't use my interface drivers but default Windows 11 driver and this is I guess Realtek ASIO. So by removing it I wont be able to hear any sound from my laptop when interface is unplugged, right? hmm ...maybe change it for ASIO4All which is pure evil, but maybe less bad that Realtek?

When I leave PC on sleep, Cakewalk misbehaves
Wojtek Stecyszyn replied to pearlie ng's topic in Instruments & Effects
I put my laptop to sleep every day with no issue. It comes back ready to go. But @pearlie ng try this trick: It will reload the driver and you should have no need to close and reopen Cakewalk after sleep. -
ASIO driver stops when resuming from sleep on Windows 10
Wojtek Stecyszyn replied to Raj G's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
When usually putting your PC or laptop to sleep when DAW is open is not a widely acceptable practice .... I was doing it ever since with no issues. One driver from TASCAM when I close my laptop lid (putting laptop to sleep) will also switch OFF Tascam interface and then switch it back ON when I wake laptop from sleep and the game is on (Cakewalk is redy to continue). Second interface UR44C from Steinberg has its own power supply, so putting laptop to sleep is not switching off interface ( I only loose USB connection, but it reconnect immediately when I open lid even before CbB is in focus. Sometimes when I go out from laptop for longer and put it to sleep I also manually switch off this interface and ONLY THEN when switched back and when laptop is brought to wake from sleep I will loose the driver from Cakewalk but then I can quickly reconnect it by genial trick shared by @Noel Borthwick few posts above that is CTRL and click on "Reset MIDI and Audio" icon. So bottom line - it all depends on audio driver and type of interface and your personal workflow. Try it yourself. I just leave it here maybe someone will find it useful Cheers -
Im glad that it works for you. Can you please write which exactly Yamaha Steinberg driver do you use? Name and version? Do you know the type of your drivers - are any of them/all of them multi-client maybe? Also what 2 DAWS in particular are you writing about. Please write also what is this screen shot representing? It looks like your windows speakers settings to me. If it is - then it does not relate to the topic of this thread. But If it is screenshot of one of your interface outputs (named "playback" in windows sounds settings) then It may be interesting indeed. Cheers

Well its not only option but seems the best (if I want to maintain my workflow when I work in Cakewalk and need to quickly jump with one clip to RX an black to CbB). As far as I know the only downside of using RX in MME mode is poor latency provided by MME, but It does not affect me as I don't record in RX and perform only post production editing.

Thank you for your answer @Promidi Well... THIS IS my new audio interface. Steimberg UR44c I just got it yesterday brand new and it is a hige upgrade that I needed for long time. And now Im facing this ASIO issue. Makes me wonder should I try to live with it and work on different drivers: ASIO, WASAPI and MME included ...or return the interface Why is that? Everything seems OK when I use it with RX standalone.

Hello everyone. Maybe this is not strict CbB related but I need your priceless input on this. Question for ASIO driver users: Can you guys run Cakewalk and other program (second DAW, or any other standalone application like RX, Amplitube, Kontakt) at the same time? My case: One ASIO driver provided from TASCAM for my old Tascam audio interface allows me to run two or three programs simultaneously (Cakewalk, Reaper, RX standalone). Now I got brand new, shiny UR44c interface from Steinberg and its Yamaha USB driver (ASIO) does not allow me to use this interface with more than one program. EXAMPLE: I have project opened in CbB and need to go with one audio clip out of CbB to RX standalone, edit it there (with no need to close CbB and leave it running in the background) save edits export from RX and load back to CbB. I use to be able to do that on my old ASIO driver but not on the Yamaha Steinberg ASIO. Can you perform similar operation? Is one ASIO so different from another? And most important - is there a solution for my situation? The workaround that I have found is that I run my main Cakewalk in ASIO mode and Reaper I have to switch to WASAPI Shared and RX to MME mode. But this is not a perfect solution as ASIO is the best option. Another question: how bad is to run RX in MME and Reaper in WASAPI instead of ASIO? Can I live with this situation? Thanks in advance

Steinberg UR44C "disconnected" error
Wojtek Stecyszyn replied to Moving Air Productions's question in Q&A
Hi Do you still have UR44C? What headphones do you use (what impedance)? Will it work ok with low impedance headphones like 32 ohms?
