VST Settings Reset when Regularly Starting and Stopping Project

Hi Community,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this... I have been using Cakewalk SONAR for decades now, and this issue has plagued me throughout all versions, fresh installs, software updates, and system upgrades/replacements, and OS versions.  I'm on my 4th or 5th studio PC at this point (all had fresh installs of Os and software), and I was hoping when Cakewalk by BandLab was released that I would see the problem go away, but it has not unfortunately.  System specs below.

The problem is, when regularly starting and stopping a project when listening to parts or recording takes, my VSTs (instruments on my Synth Rack) will reset themselves all to base-line 0 settings after some time.  So I'll open a project, work with it for a while, then all of a suddon everything sound wrong.  So I open up the instruments assigned to each track and the VST has been set to default, like you just added it.  It loses all its memory of what modification you made to the virtual instrument.  From what I can tell the problem happens when stopping the project after it has been playing.  I've tried just about every setting tweek I can think of to try to correct the problem, but I have had no luck fixing the problem.  It is super fruistrating to have to open every track instrument and try to remember what changes i made to it, so I resorted to saving the config of each instrument on each track, but it's not long before i have to go thru each track and open the instrument, and load the saved settings for each one.  It is a very annoying and time wasting process.

Has anyone else experienced this issue when using larger numbers of virtual instruments in a project?  I don't think it is a resouce issue (but maybe could be?) as everything seems to playback fine without glitching or dropouts or anything, and the CPU is not even close to being maxed out, and memory is around 50% depending on project size.  The problem does seem to get worse with the more VSTs I add, but seems rather random at the same time.  Quickly starting and stopping and starting the project repeatedly does seem to make the problem happen more frequently too.  I've tried the VST automatic vs single server setting, that also didn't seem to help.  Also I don't think it is a VST issue because recently I started tried Ableton to see if I could re-produce the issue there, and so far the problem does not seem to happen in that DAW.  I prefer to stick with Cakewalk since i've used it for so long, and hate the thought of having to switch since all my projects are in Cakewalk, but this issue makes it extremly hard to make any progress on songs when it is constantly resetting itself.  Help please!

Any thoughts or advice would be really appreciated.  Thanks!

Think I may have solved this problem.  Hope this helps someone else struggling with this issue.  Still not sure why it's seems random or happens every now and then, and gets worse as more VSTs are added to a project.  Is there a software bug?
