David Sprouse 795 Posted September 21, 2021 Breezy jazz...what's not to love. The yamaha sounded a little more defined than last time but I was listening on headphones. No bongos?!

KSband 307 Posted September 21, 2021 Thanks David, Wookie, jack! David, there are some conga/bongos on the bridge part. I tried to add some wav percussion to the song but when it synced to the tempo it sounded terrible. I'm open to any ideas of how to add good sounding Afro/Latin percussion to songs. KSband 307 Posted September 21, 2021 Made some subtle changes to the mix. Slight EQ to guitars to brighten a bit. Slight decrease in reverbs. Changed to simpler drum fills and brought down the intro snare.

Miguel Carzola 33 Posted September 22, 2021 Nice one Kurt!!! If you’re still taking suggestions about percussion, adding layered shakers throughout the whole song may help fill out the groove so you don’t have to look for congas and bongos. You could use an egg shaker and keep it dry, and layer it with a soft shaker with a long bright reverb and it would tie the mix together nicely. Another idea is to get the biggest floor tom sound you can find, add a long dark reverb to it (with a long predelay so it stays punchy) , and place it in the down beat (yes, the down beat) of every bar in the “A” parts of the song. It will change the dynamics of those parts without making it sound busy. Great job with this piece as is though 👍🏼
Larry T. 234 Posted September 22, 2021 very nice....really enjoyed that....Jobim lives!!!! 👍👍🎸🎸
KSband 307 Posted September 22, 2021 Miguel, thanks for the suggestions. Larry, Jobim is my inspiration for sure, love his stuff. Also Russ Freeman of the Rippingtons did some beautiful work with his nylon string that makes me want to try to emulate.
