Back several years ago was working in a community pharmacy. People in line for their drugs.

Young giggling girl was there and wanted to ask for a recommendation from the pharmacist.

She was about to get her first tattoo in a rather private area and was supposed to pick up a couple types of cream for skin protection after the tattoo was done.

Non stop chatty slender teen going off on how her boyfriend would be so impressed next time they made love, how cool it would look when she started her modeling career, etc.

There was an elderly and somewhat obese lady behind her in the line and was just wanting to get her drug and move on.

The old lady butted in and told the girl to think twice about getting the tattoo that she may later regret. The teen snapped back at her and asked, how would you know.

She replied that once she was young, pretty and as slim as the teen was. She decided to get a bathing beauty in a bikini tattoo'd on her butt.

Young girl said "So what?"

The old lady dropped her pants right in public and showed the tattoo. As she gained weight over the years, the bathing beauty stretched and smeared as she gained weight. Not a pretty sight.

The lady pulled her pants back up to the cheers and applause of those in line.  The teen got mad and stomped off before she could get my cream advice.

A guy at the gym I go to claims to be one of the sound guys for H&O. I imagine he's telling the truth. Who would be so desperate for attention that your claim to fame us H&O's sound.

Scars are better than tattoos. They come with much better stories! 👍

The "shot girl" at a nightclub back in the day (best friend of the waitress I was going out with) got into a nasty head-on car accident which left her with a long scar down the front of her chest and stomach.  She figured she was stuck with the scar, so she got a tattoo of a zipper over it!

Poor Bapu. Because of his dodgy hearing he has spent all these years not realising that what he was actually offered were farm labouring opportunities to dye a sheep and haul some oats.

A band I was in played at a real dive in a crummy section of town.  We had a pile of posters to give out.

After a set, several people brought up their posters for me to autograph.   I suspect they had been drinking mightily...or were just yanking my chain.

Well, when you name your cover band Lead Zeppelin, drunk people can get confused... 😆

When I was single, I used to hit on girls with tattoos.

Why?

I figured I'd have a better chance with a girl who is willing to do something that she will regret later.

(drum roll and rimshot please)

This should have been a big deal. The end result was nothing and a 10k GBP bill for the  gear I recorded them with. Eric Haydock ( deceased) original bassist The Hollies, Peter Hughes and Mick Carroll Ritzi ( big hit with too much fandango in Australia), Graham Pollack and Mike Copson. Me kneeling in blue shirt. Middleton Manchester in my lounge 2000.

True story from me - my true claim to fame.

Back in the 80s MTV was big. At that time Huey Lewis was very popular especially after Back to the Future.

A friend of mine happened to get a part in a Huey Lewis music video. He ran into my room and grabbed a shirt from my closet.

My shirt was worn by the central character (the nerd) in a Huey Lewis video that played frequently on MTV.

That’s as close to fame as I’ve been.

It's more fun to be mysterious.  That said, can you guess which of the following are true about me?

1)  I danced at Chip 'N Dales
2)  I went out with a famous porn star for six months
3)  My "lab partner" for a couple of PhD classes was one of the stars of the famous porn flick Behind the Green Door
4)  I have been on ESPN more than once
5)  I have beaten the #1 World ranked person in two very different endeavors
6)  I was once in a band that opened for Blue Oyster Cult
7)  I have been behind the wheel of an Indy 500 car going around a track
😎  I've been on the cover of a magazine
9)  I won a hard-body contest at a local nightclub
10)  I own an Alembic
11) I hijacked this thread for my own use

As for the answers (if anyone really cares), it's everything except #10!

Note that I did not say I was a Chip 'N Dale dancer, just that I danced there (#1).  A little known fact was that they would open their doors to everyone at 10pm so there were about 30 guys waiting to go in with 300 ladies already in there after watching one of the shows.  So, with that ratio, what do I end up doing?  Going out with one of the waitresses for six months who had come from Colorado to become an actress (and she did, just not in the industry she had hoped for - her name was Juli Ashton #2).  A side-note is that this is where I would hang out with Eddie Van Halen who used to show up in his white Lamborghini with his body guards in a second car behind him.  The last time I saw him there was when Roth showed up and made a complete fool of himself - you could tell there were issues between them (this was in early '85 right before they split ways).

#3 My lab partner was Toni Attell, a well known mime (named "Toad" in the porn flick) and acting coach (who worked with Robin Williams when he started).  She scares me because she's a psychic too which made for some very interesting and completely unexplainable events...

#4 I've been on ESPN twice back when they didn't have much to show and would cover dart tournaments.  On one they filmed me because I was warming up with Eric Bristow who was #1 in the World at that time.

#5 The above-mentioned Sir Bristow as well as the #1 speed skater in the world (back in 1982) are the two #1's I've beaten in head-to-head events.  I trained for the Olympics, but that didn't happen (see below).  I've since beaten two former World Dart Champions (who would stay at my house when they visited the area - Bob "Limestone Cowboy" Anderson and John "Darth Maple" Part).

#6 As detailed elsewhere, I was in the band Foolish Pleasure for all of six weeks with Craig Goldy (of Giuffria and Dio fame - and who grew up a couple blocks away from me in San Diego).  Also in the band was Mike Groves who was the original drummer for Mickey Ratt before they became Ratt (he was one of the drummers that died early in bands I was around - very Spinal Tap like - I went to high school with him...).  We opened for Blue Oyster Cult (who were billed then as Soft White Underbelly) on 12/7/1984.  Then Craig went on to Giuffria, Mike to Mickey Ratt and I broke my arm and stopped playing...  One curious thing though:  There's a review comment by a Danny Danziger who went to the show (Hey Danny, got an alias??).

#7 My cousin was the chief mechanic on an Indy 500 car in 1965 & 1966.  He put me on his lap in the car and took me for a spin around a private track which, naturally, scared the heck out of my mom.  So, I obviously wasn't driving, but I was behind the wheel!  (And I have driven a NASCAR car around the race track in Fontana California so there.)  That said, I actually have driven a NASCAR car around Fontana Speedway in California at speeds approaching 170!

#8 I was on the cover of an edition of Skater magazine back in the early 80's along with a top skater (as usual I was an "...and also pictured..." entity).  This was in preparation for the '83 PanAm Games in Caracas (that I was declared ineligible for because they said I had taken sponsorship and was no longer an amateur - still pissed about that).  I might even be in a group shot on the cover of Bulls Eye News from the mid-80's as well - can't remember...  I have been written up in a few Bulls Eye News magazines as well as in a High Times edition for the lighting I did at a club.

#9 Yep!  I did indeed win a hard-body contest at a Red Onion club but, as with most other things in my life, context is everything!  I entered as the "Unknown Contestant" wearing a bag over my head with eye-holes cut out.  When I redressed and came back out, nobody knew it was me...  *Sigh...*

#11 Yep!  More info about me than you could ever care to know. 🤣

And, NO, I don't own (and have never owned) an Alembic!!!  (But, then again, who really has, right?😜)
