I generated the .crq file on my studio computer, imported it into the Cakewalk Product Center app on my office computer, saved the .dat file, which I referenced under the Help menu on my studio computer. Then, I got the Activation Required box in the lower right corner of the Sonar window, asking me to sign in to my Bandlab account. When I clicked the Sign In to Bandlab button. I get a box that says Internet connection required. How do I proceed?

This FAQ answers common questions about Cakewalk activation. What is activation? All Cakewalk software requires an activation process to unlock full use of the software. Activation is a process that links the software to your BandLab account. Activation is required before you can use the software and is a seamless process that typically only takes a second after you sign on to your BandLab account from within Cakewalk. Why is activation required? Activation ensures that you are running genuine Cakewalk software obtained from our servers and that you have a currently supported version. Running an updated version ensures a better user experience, by getting the latest features and fixes to the software. It also guarantees that your software stays activated, because you get a fresh activation lease every time you install an update. Note: Backend changes to the BandLab services may periodically require the software to be updated to remain compatible. Why do I get a sign in message when I start my Cakewalk application? Normally activation is an automatic process if you are signed in to your BandLab account from within the application. If the activation lease has expired and you are not signed in, you will be prompted to sign in to activate on startup. Occasionally, saved sign-in credentials may occasionally expire requiring you to sign in again. This happens very infrequently (every few weeks) and is a normal part of the single sign on security process. How do I sign in to BandLab Sign in is prompted automatically only when needed, such as when the application is in a deactivated state or when you try to use feature that requires access to BandLab services. You must sign in to BandLab using the same credentials that you used to create your BandLab account. You may also use any one of the alternate sign-in mechanisms such as using your Google, Apple, Facebook account info as long as you have associated those with your BandLab account. If you aren't prompted to sign in via a notification, you may also choose to sign in manually by selecting Sign In to BandLab from the Cakewalk Help menu. On choosing to sign in, a web browser window will open displaying the sign in page below. How to activate Cakewalk software Cakewalk applications must always be activated by using in-app activation or via Offline activation If your PC is online, activation is done automatically and seamlessly. The first time you install and run Cakewalk, you will be prompted to sign in to BandLab, using the same credentials you used to create your BandLab account. Once you sign in successfully, Cakewalk will will be automatically activated. In-app activation/refresh Cakewalk is normally activated automatically directly from within Cakewalk. When starting Cakewalk for the first time, you will be prompted to sign-in. After signing in, Cakewalk will automatically activate itself. Under normal circumstances, activation will require no manual user intervention going forward, beyond the initial sign-in. Offline activation If your DAW does not have an active internet connection, offline activation is also an option. Offline activation, can be performed using the Cakewalk Product Center application. How long does activation last? If you are signed in to BandLab and your system is online, the application will stay permanently activated without any user intervention. If your system is offline, however, the activation lease can last from 1 - 3 months, after which you will need to reactivate to continue using it. When this happens, an activation required notification will be displayed . Activation may occasionally be required if you make major changes to your system such as installing a new OS, changing the motherboard, etc. Reactivation normally occurs automatically and seamlessly when you launch Cakewalk if it's needed. However, if you don't have an active internet connection, you will need to enable it or follow the offline activation steps. Do I always need to be online for Cakewalk to work? No. You only need to be online in order to update the software to the latest version or when activating it. If you choose the in-app activation method, under normal circumstances, activation will require no manual user intervention beyond the initial sign-in to BandLab. An internet connection is required to activate as described above but is not necessary for general Cakewalk usage. Does signing in to BandLab or reactivating Cakewalk transmit information about my usage to BandLab? The only purpose of activating Cakewalk is to register the software with BandLab and verify validity of the program. No other user data is transmitted during this process. The sign-in data is used to verify your BandLab user account identity during operations such as refreshing activation, or when using BandLab specific features to upload or download BandLab projects. No other data is transmitted.

Cakewalk Sonar offline activation fails -SOLVED!!
profwacko replied to profwacko's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
IT WORKED!! As per Noel B above, here's how I did it: On my offline studio computer in the Cakewalk Sonar app, I selected Help - Offline Activation - Export Activation Request... and saved the dot-crq file to a USB flash drive. Then, I installed Cakewalk Sonar on my online office computer and activated it by creating a paid Bandlab membership. Next, on the Cakewalk Product Center app (still on my online computer), I clicked on Offline Activation in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. Then, I selected the Activation Request Cakewalk Sonar dot-crq file, and the CPC created the Activation Response dot-dat file which I saved on my flash drive. Flash drive in hand, I went back to my offline studio computer, launched Cakewalk Sonar, and selected Help - Offline Activation - Import Activation Response, and selected the Activation Response dot-dat file that was created on my online office computer. This activated my Cakewalk Sonar!! Now, I'll see if I can figure out how to update it to the 30.08.0.019 build. I hope this helps someone else out there with an offline studio, as I refuse to believe that I am unique and alone in the Sonar universe. >8] And thanks to Noel Borthwick and all of the others who share so copiously of their knowledge and experience here on these pages. -Jack (operational again in Central Texas) -
So .. I'm into another reactivate cycle. Last time I did it offline and picked up the countdown screen again . I brought everything to the house for internet service this time. I immediately got a "sign in to Bandlab" message instead of the normal reactivate toast. Clicking on sign in to Bandlab does Nothing. Going to the help menu and clicking sign in to Bandlab does Nothing. What am I missing this time around ? mark

I'm an active member of Bandlab.com and have MUCH FUN jamming and collaborating with others from all around the world. And so I already did buy the yearly annual "Bandlab Membership" lease deal around last Thanksgiving. Believe me, you get a LOT more value & publishing services than just Cakewalk Sonar DAW. I never thought I'd live to see the days when technology could even make this possible. But I didn't really by Membership for twice the tracks, more plugins, more mastering presets, and free publishing services to other Spotify, ReverbNation to name a few bonuses, all of these are very cool and saves a LOT of extra work & time. I bought Bandlab Membership to give something back for keeping my favorite DAW alive, all the support they've been giving us FOR FREE. I don't have an overblown sense of self entitlement or self-worth as so many others do, I was feeling a bit guilty about being treated this NICE taking all they give without bring anything to the table. But I work out my music projects on my computer with a DAW and upload tracks, stems, and buss groups to Bandlab Studio for mix editing, as it's NOT really a DAW. It's an "editor" it doesn't run my 'can't live without 3rd party plugins and doesn't even have a buss section, and the fact that you can only record one track at a time is a deal breaker for me. And as good as Bandlab's mastering is concerned, it's certainly no Ozone. But Bandlab Studio does an AMAZING job, and does things DAWs can't do. It's as CROSS PLATFORM as you can get, It can run on and you can collaborate with anyone has an idea, an Android or iPhone, a Windows or Mac computer and record ANYWHERE there is INTERNET SERVICE! And that being said, I gladly joined and paid for Bandlab BEFORE Sonar was even released, so being able to download it for no extra money was "Just another one of the MANY PERKS", that I didn't even recognize as lease/ subscription deal. And being it is about the same as I had always paid for Updates in the old days, so that's not in the least a real problem for me. BUT.. even with CbB, the Sonar license DOES TIME OUT and reverts to "Demo Mode" every few weeks to a month and usually just automatically reports to the mothership & renews itself, so if you are not paying attention and have Toast Notifications turned off you won't even notice or know it's happening. USUALLY, but NOT ALWAYS automatically registers. That won't be a problem for me until December 2025 when Microsoft drops support for Win 10 Pro. And then it will become a 'condition' of dealing with offline activation. But I've lived thru worse.. ✌

I've been field testing Sonar 2024.08 now for a couple of weeks now and I'm really, really LIKING IT! 👏👏👍👍 And I do believe I would LOVEto BUY an "upgrade" license and own it like I do SONAR Platinum, simply for the reasons of not having to log into my Bandlab account to reactivate it every few weeks or month. 😒 Especially since my Windows 10 Pro computer will lose Microsoft support around December 2025 doesn't mean I'm going to stop using it, it means I'm going to stop tethering it to the Internet. And yea, I know all about offline activation, and that's just more of a PITA. I also know how to build or obtain KeyGens, but that kinda does go against the grains of my sense of 'copyright' ethics, because it gets too close to the borders of cheating & STEALING and I'm not a thief, nor do I like people cheating or stealing from me. And my FAVORITE thing about the new Sonar is the active spectrum analyzer being added to the ProChannel EQ. That's something I ALWAYS wished for, because it makes it really easy to visualize the EQ curves between channels, especially when ear fatigue starts to occur. When 2 channels in the same voicing spectrum run at the same EQ curves things tend to get muddy in the mix and just a slight barely audible adjustment shift can make things so much cleaner and clearer in the stereo mix buss. Coming late to the table I missed the issues of crashing on startup. However, I did have a few crashes which upon a bit of investigation and research were caused mostly by 3rd party VST Audio FX plugins but seemed to be resolved with "Load Ballancing". I haven't really noticed any increase performance other than the Reason Rack Plugin loading up and adding 16 MIDI & 16 stereo audio tracks into a Cakewalk project BLAZINGLY FAST! 🤯 For those who don't know the Reason Rack Plugin will run ANYTHING & EVERYTHING in the Propellerhead Reason DAW as a VST 3 plugin in any DAW that 'hosts' VST plugins and synths. Both SONAR Platinum & CbB would take a few seconds to add 16 Reason Rack tracks. Typically I only want to use ONE Reason synth AT A TIME, so make sure the "Only add the 1st MIDI & audio output is selected." in the Cakewalk dialog box while adding a new synth, and CbB remembered I always selected that for Reason Rack plugin. 1st time I open it in the new Sonar, Sonar didn't know that. But I'm running a very powerful finely tuned custom built computer/workstation that leans towards the side of being overpowered for a music machine DAW, and slightly over middle of the road grade of the Professional NLE "Video Editing". Plus I ALWAYS freeze tracks when done working with them. It's an old school practice, not as much for saving power to keep latency low, as it is for 'safety' reasons to avoid making the mistake of making adjustments and tweaks to track 58 when I meant to adjust or tweak track 59. i.e. SCREW UP the WRONG TRACK. And that can happen to the best of us. And things can get REALLY BAD when Somone else who doesn't know what they're doing and or never used a Behringer X Touch DAW controller sits down in the mixing seat and starts pushing buttons, twisting knobs, or whatever whilst mesmerized by watching the motorized faders dance around whilst I'm in the bathroom draining my bladder. 😵 I mean come ON, even the best of us do that from time to time, after a couple of beer or watnot. 🥴 Maybe we'll accidently hit the "Undo" button by accident instead of the "Save" button, they are right next to each other after all. Freezing tracks safeguards us from these problem/conditions as well as a host of others. And on my very high-powered computer it only SECONDS to freeze a track and 1/2 a second to unfreeze it, so it's really stupid not to as an extra layer(s) of precaution. I also had issues with adding DXi synths into the Synth Rack chain under VSTi synths, particularly when adding the Cakewalk TTS-1 with VSTi's already in the synth rack running would cause an immediate crash. However, in a new project, if I start off using the TTS-1 as the 1st synth I use it all works out great. I also understand the TTS-1 was 1st introduced, I believe with SONAR 4 Producer which of course is ancient as far as synth/instruments are concerned, so really, I find it quite a bit amazing that it still works at all. It never really got the credit or attention it deserved. Being it was bundled for free and being a DXi it's GUI is a rather simple, plain, and kinda UGLY looking Windows Dialog Box. But you can't judge a book by it's cover because LOOKS ARE DECIEVING. especially in the case of the TTS-1, Look under the hood, and you will find about a DOZEN versions of Roland SoundCanvas synth engine releases, which could be configured for 2(stereo), 4, or 8 channel outs and that's MANY more WIRELESS audio outputs than my beloved physical Roland Fantom X 61 hardware even synth had. I wouldn't be surprised to find that I'm the last person on the planet to still even use or even know it exists. And I do remember reading about TTS-1 not being bundled with the new Cakewalk Sonar by request by Roland. I don't blame them, they don't own or not affiliated with Cakewalk anymore and would much prefer "selling you" their new synth's with their new updated "SuperNatural" synth engine.🤣 But none of these are problematic for me. I can just add the TTS-1 to the Cakewalk Project first in line, I don't have to use it 1st, or at all just in case I might want to later on. Well I hope this info was useful to many 'users'. However, I don't think a lot of it would be useful to Cakewalk Staff and bakers who have little to no control over how 3rd party plugins react, But I gotta give the bakers KUDOS & HUGH PROPS UP! 👍👍 I can't remember EVER experiencing a NEW Upgrade/update version release that ran as smoothly as Cakewalk Sonar does for me. Especially with all the radical changes to the sound engine and handling of FX plugins!

I'm really happy with the way CWB is working so I'm hopeing to have the option of activating it off line. But I can't generate the offline validation. When I went thought the procedure even though I was logged into my band lab account I got an error saying there is no account for that user name.

Have been using Sonar then free CWbB for many years. I understand there is now a transitioning process in place while the paid for versions are being introduced. I have a stable/clean/hi spec Windows 10 system with the latest CWbB but now, every time I open it (after PC restart) I get the scary red activation message and the only way to get it activated and working fully is to use the 'refresh activation' dialogue in the BandLab assistant 'app'. The 'Cakewalk product centre' app doesn't seem to have this feature other than 'offline activation' which seems irrelevant to me as I am always online. CWbB remains activated but loses this status after a system restart (I always turn my PC off overnight). This is a real nuisance, unfriendly and frustrating! Can someone let me into the secret on how to keep CWbB activated all the time, even after a PC restart!? Thank you and sorry if answered already elsewhere- didn't know how to find it!
-
I've seen plenty of post on that topic, and 3 main methods of activation can be concluded: 1) Start the standalone app as an Admin, and the old activation window will pop up -- that's a myth, doesn't work. 2) Go to https://www.cakewalk.com/My-Account/Offline-Activation , sing in to account, use the offline activation tool there -- I don't have an account and it's impossible to create a new one (it's a legacy site section). 3) Use Bandlab Assistant app, select Apps section and use offline activation from there -- Bandlab Assistant changed it's UI, so there's no App section or activation tool present. So there's no working method to activate Z3TA+2 on the internet. Does anyone have any ideas?

Most important laptop specs for Cakewalk
mark skinner replied to jkoseattle's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Screen size and resolution is also worth conidering. I've got CbB on Asus with a fairly small screen. I just use it for playing around when I'm away from my DAW PC . (and for offline activation). Lots of the CbB controls can't be seen on it without messing around with the resolution controls. Then everything becomes hard to see because of small size of the visuals. ms -
This topic has probably been covered 100's of times, but this site does not seem to have a search engine. I used Cakewalk's offline activation, but that didn't work. I'm still getting an activation alert. Where should we go to activate the software??
-
So long as you have a valid BandLab Membership, you can either sign in through the app or use Cakewalk Product Center to do offline activation using files generated as Glenn has shown above.

Hi to all, I have my CbB installed on a pc that is not connected to internet and I can't install the last update because you suddenly removed the option to activate offline. from the last releases notes: "If you wish to continue to use CbB, you must update to the 2023.09 version. Earlier versions will cease to activate in the future." "Version 2023.09 currently does not support offline activation, so your computer must be online to activate it. Offline activation will be available soon." You can agree that we have a weird situation here...I "must" update but I can't really update because you removed the option...so? You stated "Offline activation will be available soon." but weeks are passed from the update 2023.09 and the offline activation is still disabled, I have invested lot of time and resources for setup and configure my DAW, as I think many others, and now not only I'm forced to stay with 2022.11 version as you don't let me update it but probably soon even this one will stop working. WHEN offline activation will be available again? I think you can agree with me that there is a problem when you release a "last or near last" update to a software that can be activated offline and JUST with this update (after five years the people are using it...) you remove the option to activate it. What can we do? Sorry, but since you decided to announce a new payware Sonar and dismiss CbB it wasn't more easy to remove the activation at all from CbB last updates since you decided to retire it and it was a free (in any sense) and will remain (as it is) a free product anyway? It's simpler than what you have done. Again I don't want to be rude but just remind that there are also people with machines not connected to the net and that we are suddenly left alone without any options. Thanks to all

IK New Deals on Modo Bass 2, Modo Drums 1.5 and Modo MAX!
CSistine replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
One important thing keeps me away from diving deeper into IK's eco system: They don't support offline activation no longer! I had several issues in the past. The cheeky answers of their support said that it does not work for "current" products, although a) those were older products and b) the description for offline activation is still present on their site! Together with other issues (installation, authorization) I think, regrettably this company cannot be recommened! ? -

We're pleased to announce the 2024.07 release! This release is primarily a maintenance release that includes a few bug fixes. It also adds compatibility for the new Cakewalk Product Center application and again allows for offline activation. Please note: CbB will eventually be discontinued as future development and support will transition to the upcoming Cakewalk Sonar release. If you wish to continue to use CbB, you must update to the 2024.02 version. Earlier versions will cease to activate in the future. BandLab Assistant is no longer used for installing or activating CbB or other Cakewalk products. You must use in-app activation as described below. You can continue to use BandLab Assistant, but not for Cakewalk products. In order to activate CbB, you must sign in to your BandLab account by choosing Help > Sign In to BandLab. If you have never signed in to BandLab from within Cakewalk, you will be prompted to sign in. When the sign-in web page opens, enter your BandLab credentials to sign in from there. If activation was successful, you will receive a "Cakewalk is fully activated" confirmation message. Note: Opening a web browser to independently sign in to BandLab will not activate Cakewalk. As long as you stay signed in from within Cakewalk, activation status is automatically renewed periodically with no manual intervention required. Note that if your system is offline or you are not signed in to BandLab from within Cakewalk, then Cakewalk product activation will expire after some time. You will need to either reactivate as above or perform an offline activation process. See Product Center for more information. The TTS-1 synth is no longer installed by Cakewalk, by request from Roland. This product is no longer supported and has reached end of life. Older installed versions may continue to work but it is no longer a default for insert instrument. Thanks, The Bakers To download and install the 2024.07 update, select Help > Check for Updates from within the app. Note: Because earlier versions of Cakewalk can no longer be activated, there is no rollback installer available for the 2024.07 release. 2024.07 Highlights Updated to 29.09.0.108 (July 3, 2024) This build contains the following improvements: Regression: Per Output Instrument Track disabled in Add Track flyout menu BandLab API updates Updated to 29.09.0.098 This build contains the following improvements: CbB has been updated to work with the new Cakewalk Product Center. Offline activation is now available via Product Center. Improvements to sign in process with new activation response and error pages. Signing in to BandLab no longer redirects you to the BandLab portal after sign in. Cakewalk no longer automatically launches the browser to sign in at app startup. The Sonar promotional window should not appear when running CbB offline (at this time). Updates for Sonar promotional window content. Fixed problems with unresponsive Sonar promotional window. Fixes for analytics and app startup. Fixes for in-app updates. New Cakewalk Product Center The new Cakewalk Product Center application has been released. This app will be the central portal to install and manage all future Cakewalk products going forward. Offline activation for Cakewalk and future products is available via Product Center. Click the link below to read more about Cakewalk Product Center. Latest release notes are here. See prior release notes. Check out all new features released to date.

Bandlab Assistant is no longer used for anything related to Cakewalk. You can do the offline activation via the Cakewalk Product Centre See:

I find it odd that people are not understanding all this?? Activation has nothing to do with the installation of the software. You can install any version you so choose and it will stay installed forever. You'll even be able to do stuff with it. But you will not be able to Save any changes or export the project. To do that the software needs to be activated. Bandlab is 100% in control of the activation. In other words the software is worthless without it. This is true of a lot of software, not just Cakewalk...OK is that Clear! Next, the other mystery to me is even though this has been said a over and over by staff and forum members! Sure you can use the old installers, they will install Cakewalk, but they will not activate. Only the latest release can be activated. In other words there's no point saving old installers as they are basically useless. This has been done on purpose stating last fall. The only exception to this is I recommend saving the full installer from last November as it was the last version that will install the TTS-1. But you would have to immediately update after your ran it. This below, is the only version of Cakewalk that can be activated right now as far as I know. And sure you can save it as a back up 'till the cows come home but why? This seems the other thing people are not understanding. Even this copy shown below will be updated someday as stated in the announcement. So it too will become useless. It would seem the Cakewalks installers will most certainly remain available from the web site ( or the Product Center) as long as Cakewalk is kept alive. The day Bandlab announces the end of life for Cakewalk it is highly likely they will not allow new installations to be activated. And all the old installs will slowly become de activated. Therefore once again there's seems no reason to save old installers of Cakewalk as it is most probable they will be useless. Note: I cannot comment on that Offline activation possibly is a loophole in the system as I have not tried that myself.
