For those of us using hardware synths, it's necessary to use an Instrument Definition ( .ins ) file so that Cakewalk can most easily access a synth's banks and patches. These were part of the old Cakewalk forum.
If you don't still have an active legacy Cakewalk account then it's necessary to create a new one - but account creation for the old site is disabled.
This effectively makes this huge and incredibly important resource useless to Cakewalk users.
