Just an FYI - I bought these last time they were on sale at PA. And while they are decent, I can't find a way to update them nor do they qualify for an upgrade to the "real" version on the Acon Digital site. (Someone please correct me if I am wrong!)  But a very decent price for some decent tools!

Not sure how buying via PA works, but I guess you redeem it on the Acon site, and download a License Key. So I would think if you bought Digital Restoration Suite 2 you'd be able to download the latest Acon Digital Restoration Suite 2 version from Acon site, and your existing License Key should still work, you can also get your License Key resent to you.

Acon Digital stuff is very good value, the Acoustica Premium Edition with all the extra plugins is great value especially when on sale.

  2. In fairness to DiscoDSP they do mention it at bottom of the OX-XD page:

    "Credit and Licensing

OB-Xd is a software synthesizer developed under a commercial license granted by Vadim Filatov, also known as 2Dat. All rights and permissions for the use of OB-Xd have been lawfully obtained in accordance with the terms of the license agreement."

  3. Give me any single installer any day, over a product portals, etc.

I ran iZotopes Product Portal yesterday and it insisted that it updates to latest version, unfortunately latest version doesn't run on my mac OS!

    Contacted support, reply:

"I am sorry for the inconvenience. Here is a link to download and install the previous version of Product Portal that is compatible with your operating system:
Please let us know if you are able to use the application correctly. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to prevent the program from prompting the update to the unsupported version. "

So I can download and reinstall a version that is compatible with my OS, and before I can do anything, it seems that it's going to update itself to an unsupported version, again, brilliant!

    Madness.

No loyalty price bason in owned plugins for the bundle. I own 50% of the plugs. Individual plugs I don't own on sale are $167 but the bundle on sale is $279.

What I don't own are Echo, Cassette & Quantum. No biggie since I have equivalents elsewhere.

Loyalty pricing, I was thinking about the bundle, as on the website at bundle up section it mentions "Looking for an upgrade? Great! Get in contact with us"

I have asked how much to upgrade to the bundle from the two plugins I already have, but I've not received a reply so far, so not sure if there is loyalty pricing.

TC Native Reverb Plus - came with the TC Native Bundle.

    https://www.tcelectronic.com/product.html?modelCode=HE120

Basically impossible to find now - was circa 2002 / 2003, only 32-bit if you can find an installer, but listening back to very old tracks from that era, I really liked that reverb. It had a tone that just isn't available in the subsequent TC plugins (tried them all).

The TC Native bundle - what a great bundle, the reverb, filtrator, and the compressor, with side-chain plugin, were excellent.

I ended up going down the TC Powercore route although that ended up being a dead end!

Are updates like this from PSP always paid, or is it just because it's a with Lexicon?

I think some updates have been free, and major new version have been paid for, the upgrade from the old PSP85 to the new PSP 285 is $28.50, and the old Lexicon PSP42 to the new is $49 (until May the 1st, and after that date, the upgrade will cost $69).

  7. Always liked both the PSP42 and PSP84 (and then the updated PSP85), and I've just given the new PSP42x version a quick demo, it's a very nice update, I will upgrade.

I have the PSP85, but I wasn't so impressed with updated PSP285 when I demoed it, and haven't so far bothered to update it.

I have iZotope RX7 but a more fair comparison would be with the 💔Waves💔 Noise reduction plugins.

I have the impression that the noise reduction algorithms on this plugins are always the same: a big number of expanders implemented via FFT with thresholds calibrated by a noise sample.

But the vinyl clicks and crackles would require some DSP tricks and I think that every developer will do this in a particular way.

    Anyone ever cared to compare?

Edith said to me that the individual plugins sales at $30 are back on the Waves site!!!

I haven't compared iZotope RX and Acon Restoration Suite that much, but I did find that the Acon De-Click was better at removing vinyl clicks on a couple of track, if you have RX you probably don't need it though, but if you can get it for $15 it's worth having.

  9. Thanks for this, just grabbed this for the two freebies, the ircam TS2 audio editor has the spectral clipping / remix built in, and it looked interesting, having them as plugins and able to use them in a DAW, rather than in an audio editor, means they may actually be useful as a tool / effect now.

  10. I do have a fair few waves plugin, unfortunately I'm now running an old Mac OS and the last time I started Waves Central app it automatically updated itself to a version incompatible with my OS! ...so I decided to depreciate my waves plugins ...they're just reserved for old projects. I hope Waves don't take it too badly. lol

Asking those who know their opinion.  Is this chorus worth picking up? I realize it's dirt cheap, but I'm not interested in installing effects I won't use.

I did get it as a APD freebie, sadly I've not tried it yet sorry... but I have just seen a post elsewhere saying "this thing is a secret weapon." ...lol ...so it could be worth a try!

I always waited for the PSP 85 going on sale! Now they took it from the shop! 😟

I would have preferred the PSP 85 compared to the new knob-monster! 😄

If you can find a cheap copy of the "XCHANGE Recording Software Collection" it includes the PSP 85 as part of that bundle, just make sure you get the right collection that includes the PSP 85, as they did two or three collections, the PSP 85 is in the "Recording" one.

That's how I got my copy, although it was some time ago and I did have to contact Xchange to get my serials/registration info.

    Just a thought.

So what's so great about this?

I'm not sure if Trinity Drums is great or not, or if it's something I'd use, but buying it from BestService, I selected the FREE Universal Sound Pack and picked an AAS expansion of my choice, so Trinity Drums and an AAS expansion pack for $10, seems quite good deal.

    Anyone use these plugins much?

I’ve had Pi and Phi since version 1, I found I could get results from it that I couldn’t get with other plugins, it’s been improved with version 3, never really been sure what it was doing under the hood, but the end results was pleasing and it's a useful eq/enhancer to have.

I also have the 358 enhancer, which is a nice enhancer, this has also been updated to version 2.

Also have the three Musiqual EQs, although never use them, I wish they'd just combine the three into one plugin, so you could just switch between them.

MIA Labs do seem to update their plugins and I think they’ve all been free updates, as far as I can remember.

The whole collection for €99 seems good value, as long as you end up using them!

I would recommend people to try out the Pi and Phi as it is a great eq/enhancer.

Larry or anyone else here, do you know this developer and if so, what is your opinion of their compressor or other effects?

    I have the T-De-Esser Plus/Pro, T-Compressor, and T-Clarity.

The De-Esser Pro is good, although I’m not a fan of their plugin protection, the plugins need to be signed in, and it seemed to loose the sign in sometimes, I think they may have fixed that in an update.

I can’t tell you what the T-Compressor is like as I’ve not managed to get it to load without an error, for some reason I didn’t demo T-Compressor which I should have, but you kind of expect plugins to work!

    T-Clarity works fine.

For free I’d grab the T-Compressor, and I’d recommend the T-De-Esser Pro, and the T-De-Esser free version is worth having.

As I mentioned, and I want to restate it so no one is disappointed. I find 8Dio's scripting of the library disappointing. I have a viola solo string library from Fluffy Audio that is so incredibly well scripted, it uses articulations based on how I'm playing and I love it. It's like 8Dio didn't even try to create an intuitive script for this library. However, for the price it's now at, if I didn't already own it, I would buy it. However, even at the $100+ I paid for it a couple of years ago, I wouldn't buy it again. But for $45 USD, I am unaware of any other string library with this kind of detail/depth and quality, so there are no peers in that sense. See, this is one of the many reasons, I decided to be an influencer.

Thank you for taking the time to share, and your views on the scripting always good to hear other peoples opinions, the truth is I don’t have the skill or musical knowledge to do any these libraries justice, but I do enjoy trying out and spending time using libraries, as I still think it’s pretty amazing that we have these tools at our disposal. I like the idea of a library of intimate more minimal strings, so I thought I’d give the library a try.

I think I’ll keep an eye out for a Fluffy Audio sale, and try the viola solo string library, I’m quite intrigued by the difference in playability / scrpting between the libraries.

would like to know if we can use these loops to create commercial songs and film music royalty free

    I think they're royalty-free.

And it's probably the best value loop bundles you can buy, although whether the loops are useful to you is another matter, but quite a mixture in the bundle (mostly dance related though), packs do include a reasonable amount of midi files which is a bonus.
