Not sure - I've only ever used it to do one patch at a time.

I have sample robot, and chickensys constructor - but personally I prefer the "auto-sampler" feature of apple mainstage for creating multisamples . I mainly use that for hardware synths, but as mainstage can also host audio unit plugins, it works just fine sampling software instruments too. And it's cheap at $30.

yeah, but if you buy mcomplete in a 50% sale you get those free updates and free new plugins for life too.
So it just boils down to how you fund that 50% difference.

Just to throw this into the mix: you can get a Melda subscription for everything for $49/month. This is not just a subscription, but a rent to own plan. (Details are on the Complete Bundle page.) .
That's okay for dipping in and out, but the idea of paying full price for mcomplete vs 50% in a sale (maybe less if resellers are honoring the sale price too) makes that very expensive financing.

mcomplete would technically work as that gives everything including mxxx, but that's not really just upgrading to mxxx and it's a hella different pricepoint.
mtotalfx doesn't work as it doesn't include mdrummer or mpowersynth which are in mxxx.
Even if both of those bundles were at 50% plus my discount for the stuff I already own, it'd still be cheaper to buy mxxx full during a 50% offer.
Same deal if I bought/upgraded the other bundles I'd need to complete mxxx as it stands right now - I own mxxx core/mcreative bundle/mdynamiceq /mturboreverb/mturbocomp. I also have the paid version of mfreefxbundle - but that doesn't count for anything in mxxx-land.
The big advantage of going full mxxx is that it's cheaper than doing the bundles way and you get new modules when they release new stuff.
I asked Luke at melda about it before and he confirmed that it's only mxxx core than counts towards the upgrade to mxxx itself.
Not to do down mxxx core though - it's a riot if you put in the time to get into the "melda way of doing things".
I genuinely love the way their stuff works - but the lack of an upgrade path makes me not want to spend any more money with them now unless there's a silly deal like the mturboreverb+mturbocomp for $99 one.
I can't even sell what I have at a sensible price to fund an upgrade to mxxx full given the melda transfer fee is 20% of current FULL price.

mxxx core is great value for €50. Even with just the included modules, you can create all kinds of great stuff as it includes a delay tap, compressor, a filter module with over 100 filter types, wave folder etc, and the mxxx framework allows for things like feedback and extensive modulation inc envelopes, lfos etc.
Makes a good playground for building interesting and unusual delays etc.
It also includes a very powerful oscillator module - like the ones found in mpowersynth, so it can do subtractive/additive and even resynthesis where you can pick a single cycle from a sample. So you can combine multiple oscillator modules with the powerful filter modules and use mxxx's built in midi functionality, which includes a sweet little arpeggiator, to make a cracking monosynth.
BUT - I have an issue with mxxx core and the way it's presented as being a way to buy the bits of mxxx that you want - and that's that there's no upgrade path from mxxx core + other purchased plugins/modules to mxxx full. The only purchase that counts towards an upgrade to mxxx full is mxxx core.

Cherry Audio Voltage Modular Core + Electro Drums Bundle - $70 at JRR with code FORUM
https://www.jrrshop.com/cherry-audio-voltage-modular-core-electro-drums-bundle
Great value for money here imo - over 100 modules including decent moog style oscillator+filter, polyphonic modules (plus it's easy to create poly synths using the mono modules thanks to the fast workflow), and a X0X style drum sequencer with 808/909 drum modules. Also includes a third-party-plugin host, with easy routing to parameters, and a sweet little sample playback module.
I find myself using this standalone as a fast way to do plugin hosting and midi/audio routings for hardware synths.
Standalone, VST 2/3, AU, AAX - Mac/Windows.
There's also a free designer so you can roll your own modules.
Here's a vid of the drum+synth modules in action:

particularly interesting with phase plant coming soon - https://kilohearts.com/products/phase_plant
Any Kilohearts snapin-compatible plugins you already own power up Phase Plant and it's myriad of factory presets.

They're both single use vouchers - changing hands just makes it more likely that both parties will spend with PA (at least $19 in total).
Or there's the legitimate route of thorn upgrade voucher used to purchase for $19, thorn sold, buyer uses monthly voucher to cover the transfer fee. PA gets $19 - or nothing if the thorn purchase price was legitimately covered with a monthly voucher too.
Deals ain't getting "ruined" in a voucher swap.

You owe me a new irony meter, you just broke mine.

It's not like PA/DS don't know who has taken advantage of the upgrade, so I'll leave it to them to decide how they wish to play this, rather than feeling any pressure from a self-appointed morality officer.
fwiw, I would not have purchased thorn - I was happy enough just having ThornCM on my drive. I won't lose sleep if they reverse this.
-
yes, I was able to stack them.
-
but yeah, I did buy tantra in the past - so it could be that rather than ThornCM triggering the upgrade.
-
I guess your post crossed with mine just before it.
-
Maybe I shouldn't complain too loudly.
I only have the free Computer Music mag covermount "Thorn CM" - yet I've had an email from PA telling me I'm entitled to the upgrade for $19, and I have my $25 Feb PA voucher. I think I just melted my keyboard with how fast I did that "buy".

wow, that's some bargain given it was $119 list, with offers down to $69 before moving to PA!
I guess PA/DS are going to need to discount this far more heavily in future to shift volume.

I really wish they did this for mac. I've played with the harmor demo in FL Studio 20 for mac - I'd buy this in a heartbeat if they did it as a mac vst/au.

I'm a fan of their sundog song studio, so got quite excited when I saw this, but I didn't see any way to send the top, chords, bass and extra patterns to different output channels - which left it feeling like a souped-up chord chopper-upper.
I guess I was hoping for something like NDLR as a plugin. https://conductivelabs.com/
